Divine Principle WS: Life, the Universe & Everything

Divine Principle WS: Life, the Universe & Everything

There are many ways in which we can see the world in which we live. How we see it depends to a large extent on the 'glasses' through which we view it. The assumptions we have, the language and vocabulary we use, the framework in which we think and feel. Most of these are inherited from the world in which we live – our family, school and university, social media and surrounding culture. Usually we are unaware of these influences and how we have been shaped by them. During this workshop we want to examine this 'life- world' from a Principle point of view and see how we can apply to the Principle to creatively and critically analyse it and develop the philosophical foundations for a new Principle-based culture. So this workshop is for anyone who wants to study the Principle and its application to the world in which we live. Reading Life Through the Principle: Life, the Universe and Everything Cleeve House, 10th – 17th September 2017 These are some of the topics we will be covering:

A case for God's existence Some controversies in science and religion Post-modernism and relative values A discussion of gender and identity politics The cultural implications of Hellenism and Hebraism ¥ Comparative ontologies Unification view of politics, economics and society God's providence in the historical process Principles of good leadership The development of European culture in the modern era Being a community messiah

During this workshop, as well as talks there will be discussion, guided reflections, games, opportunities for questions and answers, a prayer night, singing and laughter. We will also have an outing together, including a tour of Avebury stone circle – a world heritage site – and a cream tea in the picturesque market town of Marlborough.

Some reflections from recent workshops: "It's hard to sum up the past week on the recent 'Reading life through the Principle' workshop. William Haines being the lecturer, I knew there would be fireworks. However, I didn't realise those fireworks would light up the Principle in a way I have never seen before. I felt my understanding of the Principle was being peeled off the pages of the book and directly applied to situations in my own life, to relationships with my parents, to my brother, and my wife. This truly was one of my favourite workshops. It was relaxed, it was fun and it was deep. I will not forget it for a very long time."

"When I first heard the title of this workshop, I couldn't quite figure it out. Now, having just completed it, it makes perfect sense."

"This workshop was like my spiritual rejuvenation." Dates: 10th – 17th September Place: Cleeve House, Seend, Wiltshire Cost: £120 Main teacher: William Haines
