Yeon-Ah Choi Moon At 35th Anniversary Ceremony Of Segye Ilbo Newspaper

The 35th Anniversary Ceremony of Segye Ilbo was successfully held at Lotte Hotel Seoul in Jung-gu, Seoul, on February 1, 2024. The event was attended by over 500 prominent figures from various sectors, including the leadership of both ruling and opposition parties of South Korea, Deputy Prime Ministers of Economy and Social Affairs, and other political and government officials.

Hosted by announcer Shin Young-il, the ceremony celebrated Segye Ilbo’s aim to leap forward as a ‘Global Media that Sees the World.’ Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, the founder of Segye Ilbo, delivered a message through Moon Yeon-ah, Chief of Staff of the 1st Secretariat. She stressed the need to shift from a traditional human-centered worldview, particularly male dominance, to recognizing the maternal love of Mother God and rediscovering the meaning and value of femininity in an era demanding a change to an

attitude of ‘love and peace.’ She emphasized the need for a new paradigm and imagination in national vision, saying, “I have proposed this as God-centered Heavenly Unified Korea, Heavenly Unified World. I hope Segye Ilbo will continue to focus on the Headwing Unification Movement and True Family Movement, Hyojeong Culture and Arts Movement, and Korean Peninsula Peace Movement, centered on its founding philosophy.”

President Yoon Seok-youl, in his video congratulatory message, said, “For 35 years, Segye Ilbo has walked the path of true journalism, guarding the scenes of history and guiding Korea’s path with fair articles covering various perspectives and in-depth investigative reports. I expect Segye Ilbo to play a significant role in addressing the challenges our society faces. I hope Segye Ilbo will lead the way in ensuring the values of fairness and freedom abound in South Korea and leap towards a new future.”

On this day, Jung Hee-taek, President of Segye Ilbo, said, “In 1991, founders Reverend Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon visited North Korea and met President Kim Il Sung. Segye Ilbo will pioneer the path of unification and the free world that started then, aiming to be at the center of Heavenly Unified Korea.”

Jung Hee-taek also introduced the fact that Segye Ilbo hosted a drone soccer tournament at ‘CES 2024,’ the world’s largest consumer electronics and IT trade show, in Las Vegas, USA, last month (January 2024). He expressed the ambition to develop qualitatively and quantitatively without falling behind in the new era and to leap as a comprehensive media group. He also reiterated the commitment to pursue the realization of Co-existence, Co-prosperity, Co-righteousness, factual reporting, and being a media that upholds morals and responsibility.

The founders launched Segye Ilbo on February 1, 1989, with the motto of love for heaven, love for people, and love for the country, and the mission of advocating the right opinion for national unification, uplifting the national spirit, and realizing a world of morality.
