Leader’s Conference Notes for 12/20/88 taken by Pieter Nordquist ’ Father prayed to open the meeting. Then Col. Pak announced that Father had decided to celebrate Christmas on this day, and that because Un Jin Nim was born 21 years ago on Christmas Day, that Un Jin Nim’s birthday would also be celebrated today. Many leaders brought presents. Then everyone circled past Father in single-file as Father gave everyone a Christmas present, two 14-karat gold pens. True-Mother prayed over breakfast. Happy birthday was sung. In Jin Nim’s husband sang a song for the occasion. As breakfast finished up, a Korean brother gave a report about Father’s recent travels in America. This is where my notes begin: Father went to Los Angeles for the Science Conference. Then Father went_to the ocean to fish, out as far as the island of St. Katerina. Mr. Kamiyama caught a Mako shark. Father then went to Seattle to check out the local fishing industry. They took a four hour boat trip down the Columbia River and stayed there three days, researching the fishing situation. This place was the best place to catch sturgeon in America. The sturgeon is a fish that has been around for 350,000,000 years, since before the dinosaurs. It was off season but Father rented a boat and caught three big sturgeon over three feet long. The river was four to five miles wide at that point. True Mother caught two fish also. The largest sturgeon caught by Father was over four feet long. This one was frozen by Happy World and shipped to New York. Sturgeon have a funny mouth with five whiskers underneath that are used to stir up the mud from which it extracts its food. It is therefore known as the prehistoric river bottom vacuum cleaner fish. Some big ones reach 1800 lbs. When the female sturgeon reaches six feet in length, it starts producing eggs. One sturgeon can produce 60 lbs. of eggs at one time. The fish eggs of course are caviar. In Russia they catch the sturgeon, cut out the eggs and sew the fish back up and release it in order for it to produce more. Father next went to Bayo Abotry in Alabama and did long line fishing off a Sunrise Trawler, 90 x 22 foot. The line was 16 miles long, had 700 hooks, and took 3 hours to bait using squid for bait. They left it out for 7 hours before pulling it in. Father was doing some pole fishing with 80 lb. line when he got a strike. The fish was so huge that it broke the line and got away. They don’t know what fish it was. Two sharks were caught, one 400 pounder and one small one. They caught 3 swordfish. Th~ biggest one’s body was eaten by a shark and only the head remained on the hook. The missing body was estimated at 150 lbs. This is the first time that Father has caught swordfish himself. In Boston they caught bluefin tuna, but ··now for the first time they caught a couple yellow fin tuna. Father then came to New York and then went to Florida, where he caught 2 big sailfish. The biggest one was 89 inches long. Sailfish have too much blood,,so people don’t usually eat them. Therefore these 1

sailfish are being mounted. The mounting will perhaps take 6 months. Father visited 3 oceans to spiritually connect the Olympic victory and providential significance of Korea to America. Father then picked 12 people (5 Koreans, 6 Japanese, and 1 American) to whom he gave $500 each, for the purpose of each starting a fund to add to for the great public purpose, such as building a school or a hospital. Father prayed with these people for this purpose. We will buy 30 boats to be sent to every corner of the American coastline to catch all the fish. Also our goal is 3000 Japanese fish restaurants.

Father speaks in English (Much of this was not clear and could not be understood due to Father’s accent, and should not be relied on. I hope by including some of this to give an idea of the general topics that Father was men- tioning - even though it wasn’t clear exactly what Father was saying about those topics.):

Food is a big problem throughout the world. Who can solve this problem? Father knew that in the future this would be the biggest problem. Korean and Japanese boats are catching fish all over the world … Future will be fish farming. Normal survival rate of hatched fish … We must make an easier way. All Unification people must now (now!) be concerned about the ocean. 700 Japanese restaurants in L.A. In the future we will expand more and more fishing and Japanese restaurants. Fresh fish - best fish. We’ll build 30 ocean churches. 7 years foundation of boat captains training in Alaska. We need bigger boats now not just small One Hope. Bigger boats catch fish with long line system 40 - 60 miles long in deep ocean. Many kinds of fish like this. Young people cannot stay in one place and want to go back and catch more fish. Hawaii, Seattle, L.A. America connected to 5 oceans. Many fish die a natural death. Why America doesn’t allow foreign countries to catch fish? Big problem. Japan, Germany, Russia need fish. They are for all mankind. Father wants to make ocean business in the future. Ocean work is not easy. Young guy don’t like. Father has now been in America 15 years, called by God to save America. Received much persecution but laid every kind of foundation. Public leaders here only thinking about their own situation. Only U.C. members centered on True Parents thinking about the whole world. Homecoming - going back to home town is not so easy. Must find true family, clan, nation, world. Our ancestors were fallen and lost everything. Who will cast out Satan? Ancestors didn’t know precisely, but U.C. know all the boundaries. It’s not so easy, even though knowing contents … fighting, fighting. Ultimately obeying True Father … Leader’s situation, values. So God sent Father to all the world. What is God’s situation? Father knew that… Christian world. First of all Christian background foundation. Christian culture world. At that time only America. Why that kind of situation? Responsibility of America, but America doesn’t take her mission. Easy to make one world after WWII, but America didn’t. America doesn’t 2

know that, but Father had such kind of mission. 43 years ago Korea, no nation, no church. Why Japanese persecution? Who knew Korea’s position? Who knew Father’s mission? No one. Not even family. WWII Father was waiting God’s hope. Christian world all knew of that kind of central figure. Korea was making nation. Patriots in Manchuria. Soviets, China, America, Japan. At that time Japan was official leader of Korea. At that time Father appeared. People didn’t know that. Father knew that. Second generation every time belong to father. Principle. Teaching Divine Principle. Many smart people come here Divine Principle. Problem Christianity. Black. .. they have their foundation. Korean church belong to American church. Outside church connecting. Immediately made influence. Rev. Moon invading every place. But in one month move out. Bad rumor. Protecting their situation. Completely chase out from nation. Secretly. We don’t know behind. Serious. Marching on. Marching on. Marching on. Church members doesn’t worry about. 7000 ministers visit Korea. Causa. 420 audience. 4 days. Outside, all outside. Satan took. Vertical. Every outside area Satan control. Father take back. Strong foundation. Making that kind foun- dation. Workshop. Father till now foundation. Cultural, media, outside foundation, not church foundation. Every national leader think about me. How can we stand on a firm foundation? Going back to Korea. Why? Father has outside foundation. In the future Father doesn’t worry about U.C. members. Bible says Jesus coming on cloud. World ending. Father doesn’t worry about church but outside. Man, woman, God. Subject foundation. Object place. Many religions. But front place of many religions doesn’t have subject. All world religion. U.C. is world religion. U.C. is world power. Outside foundation making one. All world subject foundation finished. This is Principle. Subject automatically make object. U.C. subject then make object. Inside subject. Outside object. Same situation Japan, America. Go Korea educate 7000 ministers. New direction! That’s true. New direction. Ocean business. All U.S. business must follow Father’s ocean business. Sea leader. Who occupy ocean in future? Many kinds of people gone through history fighting. In the future you think about that. Future hatching fish farm. Not so much land. We don’t need so much white bread. We don’t need so much money if catching fish in the ocean. How much expensive? How much cheap? Fish farmer. Fish farming. 5,000,000 carp hatching. Competition. Ocean. Even man controlling, hatching 6 months. So for future, much much training, patience, enduring. Do you like that kind of training- long, long time. Conclusion? This means ocean water, salt water, more cold. How can fish? 6 months growing up tuna. U.C. leaders really have to. Only one lifetime has. What shall we do? Can do it? (Yes!) How many years Father has been working in ocean. How many times Father say to you. So so so Father say you do. So ocean future foundation. Everyone have to do that. 30 ocean church. At least 30 Ocean Challenge. Fishing sports. Hunting, shooting, one escape. Ocean Church base. Shooting animals … but fishing more exciting. Shoot animal. It falls down. organization in Japan. Many enemies … catching, catching. How do you like? (Exciting) (Yes) In the future solve situation. Fishing, sports, exciting fishing. ( Father then asked Mr. Kamiyama some questions in Japanese.) Can do it? (Yes) Why? … Normal American people thinking low labor fishing. They laid the foundation. New education from now on. You have to restore Jesus’ course from eternal standard. Otherwise you cannot… This is the principled course, Jacob’s course. Received persecution. Why? Know what I mean? You have to reality indemnity. This is the future Unification’s people course. Now all Satan’s power surrounding Father. We must get ownership. Until now Satan … Centering Father. Changing goals. Persecution. Cheating. That true. We want to take the free world. Satan’s passport. 4 corner separated. Phenomena making atmosphere. From that time , how to make subject-object world wide … #1 economic part. Religious Congress Father made. Subject - as the U.C. That possibility. Ideal system. Not power, not money, only possibility True Love. Now. First of all love … One doesn’t see mind. Body is horizontal is visible. Mind vertical is invisible. Parents’ blood lineage is start. Cause-result-True Love-True Life. Most important in my life. How do it? God is love. So that Unification concept. With what? Horizontal…unification. Do you have true blood lineage or wrong blood lineage? What kind of blood lineage? (Right) It was wrong. Received from Satan. Most worst Satan illicit. Satan thinks, “This is my absolute power.” (Father speaking very strongly.) God wants to start absolute true blood lineage. You have to know this. Absolutely. Satan wants to take. This is serious point. Father knew absolutely blood lineage. True love. Do it or not? Which one? You have heard Father’s words. Father has absolute … how to build up foundation. Fallen people in this world. Out there Satan’s blood lineage. That difficult. Understand? How serious? Love. Must making that power. (Must have the great power of unselfish, good activity to educate people.) Absolute … High. Serious. Live. Love. Which love? (True Love) Cause, result. Heart cause. My problem worst world problem … Plant, animal, insect world. More than you. Outside, “You are mine too.” Vertical, horizontal. That kind of man. That kind of woman. Promise program is what? Worst of all is … History. You have to win. You understand? My power. Cannot pull out? Is that true? Helping that kind of situation. You tl1.ink about America big hard situation. You are white. Do you understand this? Receiving follower. Receiving is good. Keeping is good. Persevering is good … I cannot give American providence … 40 million. For you … Problem is what!!! (Ourselves!) What!!! (Ourselves!) You have to have true love! Sinful… Freedom (as practiced in America) = Fleadom or Fleedom (Father spelled the word.) That kind of 4

situation in America. Conclusion - Protect. Win. Horizontal. Vertical. Mansei! True Love. Only True Love power. No matter spiritual world 1000… only True Love. Only True Love Power. True Love is universal (Father stretching arms out wide over his head.) Father knew that. We need center. Father center. Most highest. Widely. Father is taking concept. Don’t forget this point.

(Lunch break)

(After lunch Father began speaking with Col. Pak translating.) You came here complaining because Christmas season is the best fundraising? (Laughter) You laughed. That means it’s true. Father is thinking of going back home to Korea. As you know, Father is going through an incredibly providen- tial period. 40 years that should’ve been 7 years. 1985 + 7 = 1992. After 40 years the 7 year opportunity that existed, beginning in 1945 has come again. Father has spent the first 3 of these 7 years in America. The next 4 years Father must spend in Korea for a providential reason. Korea gained independence in 1948. At that time if people united with Father, then 1948 - 1952 would’ve seen the coming of the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth. There are 3 conflicts going on in the world which only the Messiah can resolve peacefully:

1) Communism <=> Democracy 2) Christianity <=> Unification Church 3) 2nd Israel <=> 3rd Israel

Father will concentrate on these in the next 4 years. The Olympics were really an amazing example of harmony. Even True Parents’ children were there. Father set the record watching the Olympics with 3 TV sets in the room as a duty representing God and spirit world. Naturally if Father watched, then the spirit world watched, because Father is the living core and central figure of the universe. This was very important as at this time a transfer occurred. When Father cheered, then the whole spirit world cheered also. The athletes represented the elite of the second generation. By Father’s watching then centering on Korea, the whole second generation can come under Father. Both spiritual and physical worlds were also watching the Olympics. This was a major providential turning point. Father alone was totally focused on and spearheaded the good result at the Olympics. Unification Church and Father’s children wanted Korea to do well and win. This will create the incredible condition of indemnity of grabbing Cain and Abel and bringing them together. Based on the victory at the Olympics two things happened:

1) Ceremony of Transfer from Cain to Abel - Sept. 27 2) Foundation Day of the Nation of the United World - Oct. 3

Upon this foundation the Blessing was held. The second generation Adam and Eve on the national level were brought together. Adam and Eve united represents the Kingdom of Heaven restored. Father is here, linking the victory of Korea to America. The next Blessing and future ones will be held in Korea. Adam and Eve must be blessed first, then the Archangel nation. So matched people should be ready on 3 days notice to go to Korea to be blessed. Father sent people to their Home Towns as Tribal Messiah to restore relatives and home town folks. This is exactly the position of Jesus, where Jesus failed. So you are being sent to do this. But we have no nation yet. This is the True Parents’ job. This is why Father is going to Korea. Then the tribe restored by you is automatically linked to that nation. There can be l00’s or l000’s etc. tribal messiahs. However, only the True Messiah can build the nation. Our position is that of Jesus but Jesus could not have the Marriage of the Lamb. But we have this and therefore we will go and get victory. That is the only difference between Jesus’ situation and our own. If we go with the absolute condition, then all our relatives will feel something funny about us. We will speak with authority and chase out evil spirits and Satan will not be able to bother us. Also our ancestors come down and protect us. This is why it is time to be strong and bold, as Moses said, because our position is a powerful position. Father is going home to fight the national battle. Should we assist Father or Father assist us? So far we have been under the protective power of the Parents. Father invested every ounce of energy into us so that we will become the victorious Tribal Messiah. We are like battalion or group commanders going to battle. Father is the Great General. Your tribe will be your soldiers. Be ready to receive the order from Father to assist building the one nation under God. This is parallel to Jacob crossing the Ford of Jabbok. Crossing the Pacific is like crossing the Ford of Jabbok for Father. The U.S. is for Father what Haran was for Jacob. Father has been here many years and has gotten many things which he has given to the communist camp athletes. Kim Il Sung is the core and the other communist nations are external. Father has penetrated the external camp. Still the internal camp must be penetrated. The U.S. still must help Father in a great way to pen- etrate North Korea. When the second generation blessed couples from Adam, Eve and Archangel nations unite in Korea, then Satan can’t invade at all. This will be the family foundation to make one sovereignty on the face of the Earth. No power can stop this. We have the power. Satan is powerless. We should stand by ready to pick up our sleeping bag and take off. Father is ordering the U.S. and European nations. Father’s goal is 3000. If not enough matched couples to make 3000, then some already blessed couples should go. This is time for absolute penetration, the final battle, and to have great confidence, and to be strong and bold. Spouse, children, prepare.

(Father speaks in English) New Testament Age - children’s sacrifice 6

Completed Testament Age - Parents’ sacrifice is required Father’s property, children, everything. This is Father’s situation. Need man power and money power. Father went through his whole life this way to make the victorious atmosphere. Now we must be strong and bold and go all over the world. God same situation. I have my children etc. Heaven’s side ownership basement foundation authority. Before Adam and Eve time, no ownership. Now we have something. Camel going through needle is more easy. U.C. until now no material ownership is emphasized. It is not the time. Only after the nation is founded by the unity of South and North Korea. Then the Unification of the world can take place. Then we will have Heavenly Children ownership. This is clear point. Understand!!? (Yes Father) In future time many ownership. God and spirit world want to see this time. American passport is not easy to get. How much more difficult then to get Heavenly passport. Your children, your spouse, your love. You can get ownership. No matter how much America says we don’t want. They can’t do that. Whole life dedication past time. (Father stands up and pulls his shirt and says not mine. Satan is making in his factory.) (Col. Pak translates) Satan has polluted the environment. From God’s point of view, we have no idea how many times people rebelled against God and True Parents. That is the whole record. But people got to the spirit world and said, “We didn’t know.” But this excuse can not be used anymore. Already the ceremony of transfer from Satan to God has occurred. Sins occurred centered on the family. To indemnify this then our whole family must come under God. Setting up one central nation is the key. Of all leaders of nations, Father is the number one. Understand this concept, how to follow it. Whole world. State leaders teach this. How can we make this? Central ownership.

(Father speaks in English) This generation is against you and your religious ancestors. Serious point. We have to have ownership. How wonderful. One with Father. Unite with Father more than with wife or children. Total authoritative center is God and True Parents, nothing else.

(Col. Pak translates) Family life must be regulated and disciplined to focus on True Parents. Be determined to love the nation and world and to treat your family sacrificially. Then there will be a revolutionary mansei. Your family should become the in- strument to do the mission. If you are saving up money from some salary or stipend to try to get some property, then this is the cardinal sin in the sight of God in the next 4 years. Father’s giving money to this country is only making things worse because people are running after material things. Love is available 7

24 hours a day. The Messiah did not come with a bundle of people or money, but came with bare hands to create these things. We are not mercenaries or hired guns, but we are here because we believed in it. Now is the time to cut off all funds and let America stand on its own. Many rich people have a problem. By holding onto money America has lost the most precious things, family and patriotism. Rich people have a horrible life style - drugs, immorality, aids etc. Now America is awakening and turning around. America in the last 40 years has dragged down into the mud. We must lift this nation up and cut off the bad branches. House cleaning must begin in the Unification Church itself. Dirty branches must go. What about Dennis?(! have a lot of dirt to get off.) (Probably Dennis Orme speaking.) Since Father knows the truth and the way, and has established the way, Father will go that way. Those united with Father will remain. Those who don’t unite with Father won’t remain. There is no second way, no other option. You must be 24 hours a day with Father.

(Father speaks in English) One tribe. Moses. 6 continent…who understand that situation. Follow me! Follow me! Even friendly competition to keep up with or pass Father. Father spent much money in America. You know Father’s situation don’t you. Don’t you! One nation. One tribe. We don’t need a big nation. A small nation is okay. Elijah’s time was to make one nation. In Jesus’ time the same.

(Col. Pak translates.) We must realize that this is an extraordinary event and message today. Day in and day out move only in one direction, united with Father, doing everything within our power. From now on to be centered on True Parents, then in the morning, afternoon, and evening look at True Parents picture. Everyday recite my pledge #5 and think about it all the time. Even though our body is here, but in spirit reach across the ocean and be with Father marching into Canaan. Preach the Divine Principle 8 - 16 hours a day. Keep your mouth always moving. Go shouting out to the world like John the Baptist, “Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” In your own level you are going to teach the world. You will chase American people so diligently that they will die or run away but they must confront you. Moonies’ voices are the only patriotic voices out there. You lied to Father so many times. Are you going to be truthful now? Yes or no!? You have no idea what Father went through when he was your age to search out this truth. Think about it. Many people complained about the IOWC and fundraising, but it ends up that in 1988 Father elected the right man to the Presidency. In prison Father created the AFC and ACC, which are only 1 1 /2 years old, and if Bush doesn’t listen to Father then he won’t be elected President again. Father’s vision is to have super political power. In the next 2 congressional elections, if this nation is still not going in the proper direction, then Father will let you go into these offices. 8

(Father speaks in English) Only white people here now, but Indians would’ve been here. Including spirits too, minority people, oriental, … can do power. How much making a problem? (White people?) Do you believe Father can do this type of focus. How much working so hard, serious, because of you. This country needs that kind of…

(Col. Pak translates) If white people did not come here then the Indians would’ve formed a nation. Father would have come welcomed as a native and would have finished his mission here long ago. So in a way white people came here and killed off the Indians and messed it up. This is an important reason why white people must come to Asia to Korea and unite with the Japanese and Korean families to restore Korea. Don’t ask Father to come to America anymore. He’ll devote his whole time to Asia. Westerners have no right to ask Father to do anything more in America. How many people really appreciated the precious opportunity to hear Father’s talks at Belvedere. Dr. Durst, did you feel in your bone to embrace Asians who came here? No. So Father has to do it. When we love black people and oriental people, then God is happy. This nation has acted so shameful to Father every time Father opened his mouth. Father feels like chopping off the necks of white people, but doesn’t. In the earlier time white members persecuted Japanese members who came here. This past record is cleansed, forgiven, and restitution made a long time ago. This is why a new declaration can be made. We are the foundation Father has built. So he can leave it in your hands. Father made the seminary and people went, some even to Phd. programs. Most appreciated it but some didn’t. How much did people sacrifice to let you eat and sleep and study. You don’t even know their names. Even if American people rebel, but then Father is claiming the oceans too. Aids is now an epidemic and some experts estimate that by the year 2000 that 100,000,000 Westerners will have been destroyed by aids. This has some providential mean- ing. Father wants to hear good reports of hard working blood sweat and tears members. Then he will feel mercy on us from Korea and feel like coming to visit us, but it’s up to us. Reorganize now. 4 leaders to be selected centered on Dr. Durst. Democratic, so you decide. Who is worthy? Even foreign members ~ are eligible, excluding Korean. - To have a solid foundation of leadership to take care of this nation. Also 6 American IW’s, one for each continent. When Father is here, then Father is the center of the tradition. When Father is not here, there must be someone to lead the tradition more and more into Father’s way so that there will result one historical tradition. The time has come to change the 4 major nations’ leaders, who have been leading for 14 years. The continen!al IW’s will be like ambassadors sent by Father - they must have the essential capability of protocol for visiting embassies and inviting ambassadors to meet- 9

ings. An article in the World & I about George Bush’s election, clearly states that grass roots activity especially by AFC was ·responsible for Bush’s election. This World & I as well as Washington Times are good promotional material and should be brought to the attention of foreign countries’ ambassadors and leaders. If the ambassadors say they didn’t hear of these, then kick them out - no purpose. Say, “Don’t you know that the AFC elected Bush?” Tell them that we are working 8 - 16 hours a day, and do it. Then say, “How much are you doing in comparison?” Unification Church members memorize the lectures by heart and sound like buzzing bees. You won’t need the Bible or the Divine Pri11ciple for reference H you repeat it 100 times. This video tape of this leaders conference is to be duplicated and sent to all 137 countries on all 6 continents. Then members will hear and feel Father for themselves. Leaders cannot lie or be mediocre. All the world will hear Father. Don’t give sympathy to Dr. Durst. We need strong, bold leadership who can do exactly what Father said to do. (Then 6 people are put on the ballot. Everyone votes by writing the 6 names in order 1-6)

(Col. Pak) Not just academic - but who loves ocean - who loves what Father loves - good fundraiser - revolutionary leader -20 hour lecturer - no sleep - like Father - talk to members - leadership conference - anyone like Father - mirror image is best. Dr. Durst, you’ve done a good job and worked hard. Father was tough on Dr. Durst. Father and Col. Pak thought Dr. Durst would run away, but he stayed, miracle.(People are voting now.

(Col. Pak translates) Dr. Durst and your headquarters staff, from now on only the top leaders will come to this type of meeting, unless it is otherwise specified. Also from now on only those who graduated UTS shall be called Reverend. Do not abuse it. Only the leader who is responsible for the center will use it. After 1992 Father will formally anoint those Reverends who deserve it.(The results of the voting are tallied on the white board at the front. David Kim reads each ballot out and an- other brother marks the votes of each candidate. Dr. Jim Baughman received 147 votes. He therefore becomes President of HSA-UWC of America. Dr. Hugh Spurgin received 144 votes and becomes Vice President in charge of Education. Dr. Tyler Hendriks receives 143 votes and becomes Vice President of Administration. Dr. Durst becomes Vice President of foreign affairs, legal affairs, diplomacy etc. These 4 are responsible for HSA-UWC in America. Dr. Durst will train Jim Baughman for 4 months. It is later explained by Col. Pak that Dr. Durst in fact has been promoted to Chairman of the Board of Directors of HSA-UWC and holds the position comparable to Mr. Kuboki’s position in the Japanese Church. The 2 other names on the ballot were those of Jonathan Wells and Dr. Shimeyo.) 10

(Col. Pak translates) University chaplains must all be UTS graduates in the future. Someone can still be a CARP leader even though not a UTS graduate. Also business leader- ship etc. must in the future be UTS graduates. In the future all leaders of any- thing must be UTS graduates. Up till now it has been wartime in the war zone and it has been all mixed up. But as things settle down, the importance of the UTS will be emphasized. Maybe you won’t go 2 years straight, but accumulate credit, 2 months here, 3 months there etc. Also those who produce and are ex- traordinary in field results should be moved up quickly. Also future congress- man. Father would like to see the person with the greatest variety of church experience move up to the political mission. The training in the Unification Church is to develop_these three areas:

1) Persuasive power - speaking, debating, discussion 2) economic independence 3) diplomacy

Every 7th year we’ll have this kind of variety training. The first day of each 7th year there will be a change of leadership. For all members in the Unification Church who are under 30 years old, no salary will be paid no matter what mis- sion. Those under 30 are in a special time of military training. Also there is a special plan to mobilize on the spur of the moment anyone under 30 in any department. Below 30 represents Jesus - special training. For the extraordinary achieving person this can be shortened by 3 years. That person can have family or position or whatever Father wants. Father will not consider Blessing candidates under 27. This is the right age for the Blessing - 27, such that 3 years later, that person can have a family. Blessing candidates can not anymore be recommended by just the regional director, no way, but must be screened on 3 levels. The blessing should be recognized as such a precious, precious gift, and the absolute standard should be met. After 1992 Father is considering that only the pure men and women alone can come to Father and ask for Blessing. In 1990 there will be a great blessing and the World Festival of Culture. Even Blessed couples now are only blessed on the Church level, but must be blessed on the nation, and world level. You must understand that God wants to leave behind a pure lineage. Father’s biggest headache now is the fallen children coming from the blessed couple. What treatment for them? Satan was at the growth stage when he fell. Now they are worse than Satan. Father would like at this time to save as many as possible. Father is leaving word that Father may be considering some plan of restoration before the constitution is erected. We want a true mother and father, not a step-father or divorce. This is the glimpse of future law our church will live by. Sunday service, workshop, leaders’ conference, public fasting, pr~yer etc. must be done and not neglected. This is 11

reflected in the book of Heaven. Until the end of religion and ceremony, our standard should be the highest - the best most sincere prayer etc. Our training and model to leave behind for our successors, as in Korea, should be Sunday morning service, Sunday evening service, Wednesday night service, and Friday night prayer. There is nothing that Father has not done to train the leaders in Korea. Father never slept more than 2 hours for 7 years during pioneering. Many people came to see Father late at night. Everybody walked even though there was the midnight curfew. Those days members had the most incredible experiences. Membership was intimately close. Like first love, so intense and pure, for Father, the church, and themselves. How can we keep this up and pass it on to the world. This is our responsibility and challenge. The 3 most important things to leave to our successors are:

1) Tradition 2) Education 3) Action

Father wants us to have 30 or 40 Phd.’s. So today is the crop we picked for leaders(Phd.’s). Each Phd. picked today should feel responsible to create 3 more Phd. ‘s after you. If you don’t, then it means that you only became Phd. for your own glory and family. This is against Father’s tradition. The same thing can be said for UTS graduates - get 3 more. Father didn’t want you to get UTS degree for yourself. You must have 3 disciples, like Jesus. North, South, East, and West. Global stage is reached. You must start dealing with the international level. Why has Father brought enemy nations together in America? To harmonize them. This is beyond Satan’s imagination. 120 country missionaries also involved 4 nations (3 nationalities+ Korea as the center makes 4). If they united then success. If not united, then they disappeared. Father brought them to America so we could love them more than our own nation. Father is making a declarative statement: He who wins his enemy for a trusted friend will be successful throughout history. Jesus had so many problems with his 3 fighting disciples. He washed their feet even, to show them how they should be. Father wants to build condos in the future for 4 nation’s couples to live in, so that they can harmonize together and love each other. America’s individualism and pragmatism has brought it down to this level. Before 40 years of age every step of the training must be completed. This is why Father installed True Parents at 40 years of age. History cannot be set by mediocre mathematical training. In this course of training you must not become a dropout. That would be like be- coming food for the eagle in the desert.

Even with sweat, tears and blood, and all night life-on-the-line prayer, but you can’t accomplish, then God will be sympathetic and create the miracle. (Col. Pak translates) Now Father will select 6 continental IW’s. Economics - self sufficiency. ICUS conference - would you drop it or carry on. UTS? etc. If 500 UTS graduates have the same mind as Father then there is no need for Father’s support of the UTS. We should pay the taxes to run the institution. Father’s presence and influence in this country has become important to all aspects of life in America. There are 3.2 billion people in Asia. The time has come to pay attention to them. Father is looking now for even a few champions among us to volunteer to go to Asia to help Father or do the mission there. One person must be cloning himself in many ways to do many times your portion of responsibility. Eve fell. So the Eve nation of Japan has been funding Korea and America. But now America must help Asia, Japan and Korea. Too bad you met Father. (Father gives a big smile and everybody laughs.) You’re thinking that Father’s vision is so free of loopholes that I can’t escape. Previously there was a tidal wave of ex-Moonies on its way out. But now many ex-Moonies are interested to come back. Your support will come from your home country. If they don’t have any money, then Father might make a special dispensation through the Missions Department. If Father is in Korea, then the World Headquarters moves to Korea. When? Only Father knows, and Father won’t tell you.

(To assign the IW’s to a continent, Father draws a grid of squares on a piece of notebook paper, and asks each of the 6 to come write his name in one of the squares. Then Father wrote the names of the continents at the top of the paper, closed his eyes, put his pen on the paper and moved it around slowly while concentrating, until the continents and people were matched together.)

(Col. Pak translates) Every 6 months or 1 year, Father will rotate you. Learn how hard the missionaries are working. Father wants to hear reports such as, “Please send this person again, because he is so wonderful.” Be a big brother to them. Teach the Principle. Be responsible for diplomacy. Audit the books etc. You never know when Father’s order will come. 7000 must go to Korea. There are 1500 new centers there to accommodate you. The American HSA-UWC leader could be Japanese. The Japanese leader could be American. In the future Father wants to mingle leaders like this. We are all one family. Any missing positions in America are up to the Korean leaders to fill. Japanese IW’s please stand up. Mr. Sudo you are now the nationwide Japanese IW.

(To state directors) Totally mobilize the movement to the church center. That’s the mission. The church is going to be a mother and support all the extra curricular activities. Whatever support Father has given, now the church will support those activi- ties, like ICUS etc. Father’s real mercy for the U.S. movement will be to give 50% of the previous amount given for these activities. Slowly but surely Father would like to reduce this and replace it by the church businesses, like fish 14

restaurants. Also money that Father has loaned to the churches or businesses, about $5 million will be paid back at 6% interest. Any less than 6% is considered a grant and causes problems with the IRS. Even Mr. Kamiyama’s ship building money. Washington Times? What about that. The Washington Times people will somehow have to give back the salary. Father doesn’t know whether he’ll reduce their budget by 50% since it is his flagbearer. Unless we really struggle with a desperate heart, we won’t grow. It’s the same with any organization. How about World & I 50% reduction. Father wants to cut America and move to another continent. Naturally! Father feels all his mercy for America is finished. He has done more than enough, more than ample. Now is the time for America to be cut loose and become self-supporting.

(Col. Pak translates) The 2 big hopes for the economic picture to be turned around in our church in America are:

1) Happy Mind Enterprises - home delivery of items ordered over the phone with a patented computer answering system. 2) Fish Industry

Every area of activity must be consolidated and made efficient. You can spend more than 50% of the former budget, but it must come from the church or other businesses. The U.S. fish providence is to be closely coordinated with the Japanese system. One system is controlled more easily than two. So there will be only one system. Until now Col. Pak has been a figurehead (Father says in English,”scarecrow”. Mike Runyon is V.P. of OUE. Father tells him about the system for the fishing.) Father has many projects in his pocket. Extraordinary projects. Father would like to utilize some of the muscle Dr. Durst has built internationally- diplomacy - financial etc. One direction export system. Paul Werner, make 3 recommendations and send pictures to Father in Korea for the new national leader of Canada. He will be a deputy leader as Father wants a UTS graduate to be assigned eventually.

(Happy Mind Enterprises Korean leader explains at Father’s request about Happy Mind.) I was quite surprised and happy to here that Father listed Happy Mind 15

Enterprises as one of the two major hopes for the economic turn around for our American movement. Happy mind is a home delivery project. Customers use the telephone. The computer responds to the customer automatically. Then it is delivered to the local Home Church member’s house to deliver to the customer. Our order receiving system is the only one like it in the world at this time. Happy Mind Home Shopping Club membership is required. Upon punching the catalog number of the desired merchandise, a voice explains what it is, repeats the catalog number and current price and inquires about the quantity. The computer then calculates the amount including tax. The repeat button repeats the final order statistics and allows for any final additions or deletions. This eliminates the usual human errors involved with this type of ordering. After 3 months of experimenting with this business in the Washington D.C. area, they found no problems. It eliminates the need and expense of frequently updating prices in a catalog. The shipping system is more efficient than others because of the Home Church system. 2300 items were covered with no perishables. Then they got a 3-day ice box system which allowed them to carry perishables, at which orders increased three fold. Also the perishables have a 100% mark-up, where as dry goods are only 25% mark-up. The Home Church member who delivers the merchandise gets a 10% commission and averaged $600/month. Now they need to promote the project for it to be well known. Promotional flyers are expensive. Recently they have used free local papers that are delivered to each home to advertise in. They did a survey and discovered that most people like to receive deliveries from 10-12 a.m. Next most popular time is from 12-3 p .m. The least popular time slot is 5-9 p.m. There is no charge for evening delivery. There is a charge for daytime delivery, because the Home Church person can’t do it then usually, and outside drivers must be hired to deliver directly to the customer’s house. There is a $20 minimum for day delivery and a $5 minimum for night delivery. Then they could use the local paper to advertise and cover the whole city, even in areas where no church member lived. It seems like they have developed quite a good system. Until now the inventory has been limited, but this will increase. We are really confident that we can be successful, and even win over customers who are presently using other catalog order-by-phone-delivery-services.The good points are as follows:

1) All items delivered in 24 hours - the same day, if the order is received be- fore noon 2) Public phone can be used 3) Free delivery 4) Evening minimum is $5 5) Day minimum is $20 6) Membership qualifications - credit check - The members are screened and can therefore pay COD or later. 16

7) Patented computerized order entry system 8) No investment needed - can be extended nationwide

Father wants to invest $10-$20 million to expand nationwide. Worst case is in the beginning due to start up costs. The discount on wholesale merchandise increases as the amount purchased increases. The system is still open for fur- ther development. 9 people is the minimum staff needed to cover one city, including the manager. Based on the Japanese members in the fish restaurants and their delivery facilities, this can be expanded. So any state or city leader who wants this in their city make a plan. It requires a $30,000 - $40,000 monthly budget. Even non-church members can be hired, since often church members cannot devote themselves in a consistent timely manner. Also you don’t need Home Church members for this. Customers really don’t care so much about the delivery charge. Most of the customers are housewives. Father really pledges to support you, whoever wants to do this - $400,000 loan for the start up costs.

(Father speaks in English) Even 7 years ago Father wanted to do this. Not Amway, but Moonway. This will make an economic revolution.

(Col. Pak translates) Mr. Kamiyama, build 30 new Ocean Church boats. We need 100 manpower to tackle the boat building. So we need to come up with manpower amongst ourselves - not just Japanese members but Westerners too. One of the greatest dangers facing the Unification Church movement today comes when blessed couples start their family and stop worrying about Father’s world vision. This is ungodly, and Father wants to reverse this right now. Mr. Kamiyama gets 100 people, each of whom will be supported by 9 people in other businesses or churches. These 100 people are being mobilized for the sake of the world. That business which supports the mobilized person will never go down. It will be- come the pride and joy of that company. We should all join in this insurance company, as this will multiply. (Referring to the 12 brothers with $500 each) All blessed families must join. 12 sort of tribe leaders. Each individual has to add $500. Possible names are: World Restoration Fund, Ideal World Fund, or Construction Fund for the Kingdom of Heaven. Each individual in your spare time go out and raise $500 and join this Kingdom Building Fund. Many, many blessed families have become absolutely dead by worrying about themselves and their own house and family. Everybody will join this, even candidates for the blessing. Of the 250 ICUSA trucks, 126 are sitting still, 20 or so are rented out producing income, and the rest are running, but poorly. How can you do that? State directors who can’t even run one truck. This is unforgivable. These are special trucks that Father gave from prison to show the world that Rev. Moon never 17

died. You must use those trucks constructively. Also the video vans - they are a mobile church and crusade in one. Mr. Kamiyama is taking care of 70 of these now. It is also imperative that these be reactivated, repaired, and mobilized. Father rented a boat that is 20 years old in Florida. It was as good as new because the owner kept it up. How can you expect that God can bless either you or your state if you don’t respect these. They are archive trucks and vehicles and will go to the museum. You must learn how to maintain these pre- cious gifts that Father has given. They are priceless. If Jesus drove a car, it would be in the museum now. If Father drove a car and it ends up muddy and rusted out, then people would spit at it. This can never be allowed. It is unfor- givable to fix your own car and let Father’s vehicles sit. AFC leaders raise your hands. You have been supported by Father but now should be autonomous. Work closely with the church. Make a fundraising team. Headquarters will conduct a mailing and you should support yourselves from membership fees or come up with some other plan to become self-sufficient. Also the ICC must do the same thing. Father cannot support you anymore. Father is also interested in recycling paper. Mr. Kamiyama is in charge of that. Ambassador Han has been instructed to look over all these financial instructions given. Also Bo Hi Pak will be the go-between in Father’s absence between America and Father. Basically 2 instructions:

1) 50% budget reduction to be phased out over 1 1 /2 years 2) Also all affairs can’t be handled by one person, so Bo Hi Pak is liaison.

Father is still in charge even in Korea, of course. Didn’t you expect this. We’re not only responsible here, but must help Father in Korea and also go to the world which is our goal. America is responsible for the world. That’s what God intended. Why is Japan being successful? Because the Japanese movement is taking the major financial responsibility for Father’s work, so God blesses Japan. If this movement in America would take more responsibility financially, then God would bless this nation’s economy more. Mr. Chu will be V.P. of Newsworld while Rev. Kwak is in Korea. Washington Times is the flagship newspaper. Dr. Ron Godwin … etc. all newspapers working together to become self sufficient. Every center, every place, every business office that is related to Father will subscribe to the Washington Times, The World & I, and Insight magazine. Pay full price by mail delivery. Also every school chaplain will use these as standard tools. Even go out and sell them. How can we talk to people about them if we don’t read them? Father has spent so much money to bring the movement up this far. We haven’t appreciated. Furthermore we will be owners of the boats. Each state own a boat. Spirit world is not too far away. When we are very devout, then spirit world intervenes to assist and support. Those who never had the opportunity to ride in one of Father’s boats raise 18

their hands. (Many) How come! Father has for many years invested and been concerned. How come you never road on Father’s boats? Father has a fur company, Christina Bahn in the Tiffany building. How many are hearing this for the first time or don’t know what that is? How many of you have never visited Christian Bernard jewelry stores? (Col. Pak translates) You don’t feel good huh? Father truly, truly expected more from you. While Father is away don’t repeat your past performance. This is a parental warning? You’re loosing members. You’re not taking care of them. You’re like a parent as leaders and all people need your love, care and concern. Think how apathetic you have been. You just don’t care, incredible apathy, not to have visited Father’s businesses. There’s a deer farm in New Zealand with 1000 deer. Also many mink and sable farms have been established. Deer horn is perhaps the most expensive ingredient of oriental medicine. Il Hwa will do chemistry with deer horn to make pills for human consumption. 2000 chinchillas in L.A. Why has Father done all these things? For you. It’s easy to raise chinchillas. Good fundraising.(Father instructed Mrs. Han to assist Christina Bahn in N.Y. and learn the business, because she would know high level people to whom to sell furs. Then Father wants her to open a shop in Washington D.C.) It’s far better that Father worry only about vertical, spiritual things, than mundane things like business, but he has to because none of you are doing it. You should worry about those things.

(Rev. Lee gives a report and suggests an approach to working with the ministers who went to Korea.) 7000 ministers have been to Korea and Japan. Most of them understand Divine Principle. Coming back to America, they face the problem of how to deal with there own congregation which they fear might kick them out. How can we pro- vide the opportunity for them to work with us and yet protect themselves in the eyes of their own congregation, such that it will advance the Unification Church movement and the interests of their own congregation. Cain cannot have direction unless Abel gives it. They’re waiting for direction from us, state directors, regional directors. Sometimes we invite them to lecture or various activities. They want to, but they’re scared that they might be kicked out. New 19

England doesn’t want to do anything with strangers, unless we can show them something more than their standard. There are many liberal churches who do social action. We must do social action. If they want to study Divine Principle, it must be by themselves. So if we do social action with them and their congregation, then this is great. 82% of the population of New Haven, Connecticut are below the poverty level. The mayor has been white,and many minorities complain that they haven’t been mayor. The only reason for that is lack of unity. Our church has passed out “People Helping People” cards. There are 10,000 card members and 100 stores which give them 5-10% discount. We have been training ministers, mostly black and Hispanic, to organize and educate these card members living in their areas. Then those card members will come to their churches. When you talk about helping poor people and homeless, then no one can accuse. Also many communists are doing this, especially liberal churches. We had a meeting with the mayor and the human resource department. We told them that we have 10,000 members and many ministers working with us. This mayor was in trouble with the NAACP. The mayor said, “Why didn’t you tell us before? What can I do for you?” Then we said that we wanted various locations around the city to run some food for the poor programs. The mayor said that a liberal church had been doing that for 5 years. But we said we don’t want to invest the manpower ourselves, but that we want to organize and educate and get the manpower from other churches. The mayor said they would give us the places to store the food etc. Ministers were very happy to hear this, that the politicians had responded. They plan to get one volunteer per fifty card holders. Then invite many social action groups and services to meet the card holders. Then give spiritual education and ask why poor, why homeless etc. So many ministers are not working together - race problem. All divided.

(Col. Pak translates) Father instructed some time ago to investigate surplus food. Father’s understanding is that there is unlimited surplus.(Two brothers stand up and give short reports - 3 or 4 sentences each, from the IRFF and LA Project Volunteer.) Father wants more info. The Washington times can make a political deal, but we must have the facts in order to move. The Washington Times should look into this - extra food and products to give for foreign aid - not just America, but Red China and North Korea. It can help open the doors to these countries. Some boats cross the Pacific full and come back empty. Maybe we can use these, if we pay some of the expenses. One member in each state should be assigned to investigate surplus food. IRFF should help coordinate. Father wants to combine all these separate offices e.g. IRFF etc. Jim Baughman and Mr. Yoshida, do some research and see how to combine administrative functions. Father wants to cut 50%. The extra manpower can be used for more productive 20

purposes, like shipbuilding. Have one team to organize all the conferences - ICUS, PWP A etc. This is one way to save. Father does not know when Father will see you again. Pay attention to your mission 24 hours a day. Father would like to invite Mother to close with a prayer.

(Col. Pak) Concerning today’s leadership change, Father promoted Dr. Durst to be chairman of HSA-UWC board of directors, a promotion, not a demotion. This should not be perceived any other way. There will be a press release to this effect.
