The tape starts in the middle of a conversation between Father and Unification Theological Seminary (UTS) students.
Student: I think no courses are difficult. … But it is difficult to find enough time to study all I wish to study.
David Kim: You have to clean the building, many things, potato… no!
Father: Who are the brothers and sisters from overseas? Lewis [Rayapen]? You have to try hard to convert your ex-wife. What country do you originally come from? Mauritius, off the coast of Africa. Does your country have out Unification missionaries there? Yes. Three.
Father to someone else: What did you specialize in as PhD candidate?
Student: I was studying French.
Father: You are literary oriented. You are my alumni. Father considers that you should go back and within a few years get a PhD and do the job.
Father: What is your age?
Student: 37. What about your fund-raising this time? Did you succeed? Yes, I think I did. Not only financially, but also spiritually, I think…
David Kim comments to Father in Korean.
Father: You have no difficulty? You are a Commonwealth citizen?
Student: I am a British citizen.
Father: Fine. What else, the overseas Family?
David Kim, to Father, in Korean: This brother is from Germany.
Father: You are from the Los Angeles area?
Student: Yes. Three are from L.A.
Father: You are originally from Germany?
Student: Yes. The two other brothers? Two Americans.
One of the two students: Kentucky.
David Kim comments to Father in Korean.
Father: What did your mother say after staying [here] two or three days and observing everything, morning service, Sunday… What did your mother say before she left, she was almost converted, or half, or what?
Student: She came…
Father: By the way, where is your father?
Student: She came to Yankee Stadium and for a parents’ conference. My father died the day before Yankee Stadium. She had to go back home. She likes the Church very much, but she heard much negativity. She came to visit my center once, and she was afraid to eat, because she had heard about bad food - poison! But she came this time, and she was very amazed. She liked the unison prayer very much.
David Kim: So, what was her impression about Father? I said your mother is not supposed to be inside to listen to Father, because this is a family affair. What did she say, she was very sorry?…
Student: No, she was a little bit afraid to come anyway.
David Kim: This is not discrimination, purification!
Student: She got to see Father walk by.
Father: Sometimes your folks are indigested… In the future, your folks will be very much honored to have you in the Unification [Church] and also very pleased, so you …
What else, sisters from overseas? From what country?
Student: Iran.
Dan Fefferman’s wife [Susan], you know, Iran is persecuting us, or…
Student:… teaching her the language
Father: You taught her? She re-entered Iran disguised as an actress, with different cosmetics. After graduation, you will be sent to your country. Are you ready to be martyred?
Student: Yes, Sir!
David Kim: He is an army officer.
Student: I was first lieutenant.
Father: How about you?
Sister answers in Korean: I am from Germany.
Father: You are in the second year. Did you have problems with fund-raising in the summer-time?
Student: No.
David Kim: No, you conquer everybody. I am even scared besides you.
Another brother: I enjoyed very much …
David Kim: Which country?
Student: Germany.
Father: How many Germans here?
Student: Four. Senior, junior?…
Father: How many Jews, raise hands, men and women? - [Counting:] …Thirteen.
Father: Too much! We have to turn Judaism upside down, that is one of the goals. Without this chance, very hard for them to survive.
David Kim: Among professionals many Jews, lawyers, professors, doctors; they occupy key professions. Wherever they go, they will solidify their Jewish clique, right there. They have a tendency to discriminate other qualified professionals in their group. Father investigated this area thoroughly. That is a future problem. Instead of embracing, discriminating. So, open-mindedness by the Jewish community is very important. If not, they will not get along with the white race, neither with the minority groups. Then, where will they go in the future? So, this is a re-enlightenment of the Jewish people. They are proud of themselves, of being selected, chosen people.
Father: Chosen people, from God’s point of view, means embracing all mankind. They don’t think that way; they need education. Chosen people for the whole world, not chosen for the Jews, that is the problem. Our theology makes sense there.
Zionism in the United States is a problem, in the future. You Jewish people by origin should be very responsible for the future of your race. The world cannot get in into Judaism or the Jewish community. So, Jewish people must get in, plunge into the world community. Unification’s first emphasis is the world; then, we are able to embrace. But Judaism is to much confined in their own short-sighted are, so they cannot embrace. That is why Jewish people are afraid of Unificationism. Another reason why they are afraid of the Unification Movement is that many [of their] young people keep coming [to us], God sends [them].
Whenever Judaism is being explained by the Divine Principle, it makes sense, even the Old Testament, that’s why. The theology of Judaism is very fitting to our Principle. If you … Second… Jesus Christ… First and Second Coming combined together, beautifully that Old Testament fits with the Unification Theology. It coincides with the Jewish theology right there. So, our contents of the Divine Principle even promotes Judaism, which has a short-coming there. We can let them have an expanded theology, for the world, as a world religion. There is a potential for future advancement within Judaism, if they accept the Divine Principle.
You have to center on Dr. [Josef] Hausner, just like one year ago Father mentioned, each interfaith, each denomination, each religion. Centering on Dr. Hausner, you have to expand. World renowned scholars, Jewish seminaries, all this you can infiltrate with our Divine Principle, you and Dr. Hausner. That job has to be done by the Jewish people. There are many Jewish scholars, even Christian Jewish scholars there. So, you have enough room to embrace this area. That is what Father mentioned last year.
