MORNING SESSION:

Before the conference formally convened, Father met with the Regional Directors over breakfast. At 11:00 AM, Father opened the conference of Regional Directors, Mobile Unit Commanders~ and State Representatives.

Father emphasized to each of the leaders the importance of sacrifice for the purpose of the Heavenly Father. The more a person gives for the purpose of the Father, the more the Father will come to depend on that person, and the more He will come to be close to that person. Father said that our motto should be, “God is in me, I am in God.” He said we must strive to live as God lives - a life of service and sacrifice for others.

As he has many times in the past, Father stressed the importance of each person setting a good record of achievement. He said that no matter what happens to each of us, our record of achievement will remain forever. If something would happen to each of us right now, then we would be remembered on the basis of what we had accomplished up to this point. Father said he wants to train the American Family so that we can leave behind a glorious record, or standard, for the American people. The new record must be set, not from the worldly standpoint, but from the heavenly standpoint. We must live up to Father’s expectations - that would be the world’s highest and finest record.

Father said that if we work with all of our effort, and concentrate on setting the highest standard, then Heavenly Father will be responsible for the result. We must work as if there was no difference between day and night. If we w0rk without limitation, doing as much as we possibly can, then God will take responsibility for the result. Our first and primary concern must always be, not the result, but whether we are doing our absolute best for Heavenly Fathe_r. Then we can be confident that God will take care of us no matter what the result.

Father said that the most important aspect of a good leader is not his ability to conunand, but his ability to serve. The position from which we command is the most fearful position, but the position from which we serve is the most loving position. Father said that if we want to lead or command 20 people, then we must love 20 people, if we want to lead 100 people we must serve 100 people, and so on. Our capacity of leadership must expand from the 20 man level to the 1000 man level. We must each become a bigger container for love and service.

The leader must be the first to set the “livi.ng example”, and h~ should produce more than anyone else. He said each of our members bring so much by giving their entire dedication. The leader must be in the position to return to them

even more than they can give, so that they can be in a position to be grateful to their leader. The leader must never be in a position to be indebted to the members, but the members should always be indebted to the leader. This is the principle upon which Father himself is leading the movement.

Father expressed great concern for the nation of America. He said many times that the Unification Church members are the only hope for our nation. He compared our movement to one drop of pure water in the contaminated river which is America. In order to cleanse the dirty water of the river, we have to continue to pour in pure water. We must be a stream of pure water cleansing America so that “God can bring his sailboat” here.

Father discussed in detail the horizontal restoration of vertical history. He explained that man fell because he did not fulfill his responsibility to 1) believe in God (FAITH), 2) obey God (ACTION), and 3) love God (HEART). Therefore, man must be restored in three stages: FAITH, ACTION, and HEART. All of vertical history can be restored and embodied in each person - that is, through the sacrifice of our material things (representing faith), our body (representing action), and our family (representing heart). These three stages correspond to the Old Testament Age, the New Testament Age, and the Completed Testament Age in the providence of restoration.

Father explained that the Fall occurred because Lucifer wanted God’s things as his very own things. Therefore, restoration begins when man denies himself of those things. Father said that when everything had finally been returned to God then God would give it all to man. He promised that as long as we followed this principle of sacrifice, God will be responsible for our well-being. The future of the Unification Church depends upon our ability and desire to sacrifice.

Father said that there is no easy road to God. There is no other way than the way of sacrifice. This formula has worked throughout history, and this formu!a will guide our future results.

The conference adjourned for lunch at 2:30 PM and reconvened for the afternoon session at about 4:00 PM.

AFTERNOON SESSION:

Father opened the afternoon session by emphasizing the importance of training for all our members. Our members are called to work’ so hard, he said, that only the proper training can sustain them. Father said he plans to have three major training centers in America - one at Barrytown (already established), one on the west coast, and one in the mid-west.

Father said that in the future, in order for some one to become a formal, regular member of the Unification Church, a person must have completed 3-day training, 7-day training, 21-day training, 4O-day training, and finally, 1OO-day training. In the future, Father said a person will be respected according to how much training he has received, and positions of leadership will be assigned accordingly.

Father explained the importance of fulfilling the 1-1-1 goal each month for at least seven years, and how this relates to the providence centering around Jesus. By bringing 84 members in 7 years, we can become the “Messiah” to our own tribe. This is the minimum foundation in order to take advantage of the foundation which Father has already laid.

Father stressed over and over again the importance of bringing spiritual children. In the future, he said, he may not even consider someone a member until they had brought in spiritual children. The way will not be easy, he said. In order to achieve such a position of honor and merit as that of a member of the Unification Church, we must work hard to deserve it. Otherwise, he said, we would be like a “thief” - gaining the fruits of the work of others without paying the price. ·

Father said that each state ~ommander must evangelize his own state. He must be like a “little Reverend Moon” and bring the Day of Hope to cities throughout his state. Even though plans are proceeding for the rally in Yankee Stadium, New York, in April, 1976, state commanders should not expect to come to New York. Instead, Father wants each of them to “compete with New York” and have their “own version of Yankee Stadium” right in their own state. Father hoped that each commander could become famous - “a household name” in his own state.

Referring again to his plans for training, Father said that in the future he wants each state to have an educational program and an educational director. For now, however, the state commander should be responsible for the 3-day and 7-day training pr~grams in his state. The Regional Director will be responsible for the 21-day training program. Those who pass the 21-day training course at the regional level should, whenever possible, be sent to Barrytown for the 4O-day training program. Those who qualify can be sent on to 1OO-day training. After his successful completion of 1OO-day training, a member will be assigned to the field, where he will prove himself through his accomplishments. After he establishes a successful record in the field, a member can then be recommended for the 6-month training course. In the future, Father said, this would be the leadership training course.

Father then instructed Regional Directors to select one leader from each state for training at Barrytown immediately. The other leader in the state would remain behind and supervise all the activity. After those initially selected for training had completed their training and returned to their state, the other leader would then go to Barrytown for similar training. In this way, all of the state leaders can be trained and formally qualify as leaders.

Father closed his afternoon address with a list of specific instructions to those present. The instructions were as follows:
