Thinris Found Most Ir.1portant In Leading a Life of Faith LEADER’S ADDRESS Decer.iber 12, 1971 (Mrs. Choi translating)
We cannot deny that the first human ancestors fell somehow. Due to the fall of man, history started from anoint of sadness. The saddest thing at the starting point was td have to depart from God. God was to be the center of our happiness, life and all things. Due to the fall, hnpf)iness, life and all tllin’]S \•iere cut off frorr mi’lnkind, and 1·1e fell into deep uespair, darkness, and unharriness. With the loss of their vision, men began to feel tears in their e_~ies. Hith those tears, hunan despair, in utter darkness cur.:e to be. God is our Father, or rl’arent. Can you not irnar;ine that His sorrow was far above that wl1ich hu~an kind felt? God could also feel the tears over the loss of His children. Originally, man was created to b~ happy, full of life and joy before God as his parent. These people \•1ere to have existed for the glory of God~ But, because man fell, the opposite world was produced, and was of great sorrow and grief to God.
Human kind, from the beginning, when he fell, went over into the bosom of satan and
l left God. God felt like beating satan right m-:ay. \·lily couldn’t He do that? God wanterl to forgive mijn, but He was nnt in the position to forgive rna11 unconditionally. He had to have sc~e conditions on which to forgive mar1, We must iMarine this: J ose ’ re wc1s another r,an \’,ho did not fal 1; another brother of Adan, \·!ho, star.d- ( ing ir.tact from the fa , \·JOU d qo to FGtllcr and be<J Hi~ to forf_live his brother; what would 11,W(; har,rencd? For exar.iple, if that r.,,,n, l’tithout huving ft1ilen, \i’✓ould go to God and ask 11in to forgive his brother for the fall, and if he would tell Father that he would l1elp by taking on any responsibility himself; he would be willing to be beaten or anything else for tile sake of the fall of his brother, God could have forqivcn him. This ~-1as supposed to be the 11a of for iven ss or. salvation of the fallen man.
Man, who has not fallen, in another sense, can be said to be the man who has nothing to do with satan. If God has th-at kind of man, He can develop His rrovidence of salvation v,ith that man in the center, 1·lith him as the centrnl fiqure of flis provi- dence of salvation. Our Principle tells us that this type of person is Abel, or one \’!ho is - in the position oL.Abel, Abel…,is surposed to be the person 1•1ho can receive… 12..erfect love from GQ.c. He r;,ust be able to be t.riuriphant oversatan. He must be able ------------ to sacrifice himself for mankind. — We can sr.e that even from Adi1m 1 s family this kind of providence has been developed. Ab.el was to sacrifice 11ithout being sacrificed by satan; his sacrifice was on the altar offored to God. He \•1as not to be sacrificed by being killed, but he 1-1as to be ~inq sacrific..,e so _that God could work throu!]h him. I n ~ , v:e also see that he sacrificed himself while he ~as in the love of God; hr. sacrificed l1i~self for the benefit of mankind. fie was scoffed at by people, but he \•1crked on ,rn<l on for the salvation of man throurih his faith in God. There v:as .:i feel in’) of er.:ptiness in· the bosor, of God 1-1hen Gcd called Abrabr1m fror.i the bosom of Terah, the seller of idols. /\brnh•;-u;-, 1-1as to be called out from the bosom of satan on the founuution of his faith. He \’las 1dlling to be sacrificed for the snke of 111ankind, and then, throuoh him, I God could cl1ange the providence of satan, brin~ing it into the love of God. After Abraham had 1·:on the battle arpinst satan, he could perform the role of saviour in the love of God. First of all, he had to ler1ve his hor1e, his homeland, his native place and everything else. That is the starting point of sacrifice.
~ did the same thing. It is somehmt thr. fon,ula; Jacob also left Ids for.iily, went to Haran, and \•1ent throu9h c1 lot of suffering in order ta be the son of God and to br. the center of nrovi dence. In order for him to cor.1e out of the satanic \’/Orld, he had to leave everythir1tJ behind him~ By doing tilat, he could set up the condition of hnvin(J won victory over SJtan, and then he cculd enter into God’s lcve and be given the qualifications to save tile \·!hole of munkind throuc;h his sacrifice. In this case, he is in the position of the brother who would have ~een intact from sin, or \tould have nothing to do with sutan or viith sin. \iith him in that position, hum,rn kind, throu9h faith and through bclicvinr: in liim, could be saved and come to the same position to be loved by God and to sacr~fice to save.· In that case, he would have been b~ten or sacrificed io the rosition of, or in the place of, Adam, so bc~o.yJ_d pl;iy the role of Ad<1m.as the victor~ f1dar.i \vithout sio. So he was i~ · the position to be loved r..ore tllan-Ad<1m v:as before the fall. From that roint, he would get over the line of the fall and qo· up and up. Jacob was the man who had played the role of the saviour an the family leve). From that point beyond the level of family, the salvation on the level of race started after having \’-Ion victory over sc1tan, and the Israelites \’/ere chosen as the nation of God’s care and love. Israel, the \’/Ord Israel, meant victory over satan. Isr·ael could liberate God from His sorrow over man’s fall •. For the first ti0oe, God was h~P2.Y· This \’Jas how the chosen nation of the Israelites cnme to be. But, the Israelites, the chosen nation, v1ere arrnin beaten by satan, ,rnd \’dth that scar, God could not save mankind through th.:it nation, so He had to give the nation into the drud9ery in Egypt. Gy goin0 throu0h that great drudriery, God could lead the Israelites as the chosen nation again. He could 1ibercte the Isrc>elites, the chosen nation, out of Egypt, out of satnn’s hand, and develop llis providence to commence again. Moses was in the position of Abel, representinq the nation of God’s choice. noses was in the position of Abel, or in the position of the brother without fall, who would go to God and ask for~iveness for his brother. Through · Moses’ faith and sacrifice, God could save the nation with floses as the central figure. As you know, he killed the Egyptian who irritated his nation. In that case:, he \’las in the position of Adam, v.-ho could have vmn the victory over satan. Moses, v1hen he kJlled the Eoyptia,.J.1, was in ttie position of hrwinq liberated God’s heart from sorrow, because God. felt like killing the f;1Jleo roan ~en man felJ, but could not do that. \·/ithMoses doing that, God Has liberated from the feeling- gf long-cherished resentme.n.:t. Master is going to speak of how God set up Moses as the central figure, eve~ though he killed a man. By killing~ fallen ~an, represented by the E0yotian, Moses could liberate Goa’s heart. Do vou know what I me;in? God could have killed the man of fall; He felt like killinriv, or just annihilating man, but He had \’tisdom for not bein~ able to do that, in order for rian to develof) the r,rovidcnce of salvation. tod has cherished the feeling of resentment in His heart to kill fallen man, but by Hoses’ killing of the Egyptian (who renresented fallen ~an), God was liberated from ~ - So, God,. instead of hatinc; !10ses, loved Moses n.ll tl1e rr.orc and set him up as the central fir;ure of that dispensation. ,Jacob did the SJr,1e thing on the individual level when he wrestled with the angel and won victory over the angel and could develop the salvation of mankind on the family level. Eut ~oses was doirig that on the tribi”:l or national level: by conquerinq satan, by cnming into the love ·of God, and by sacrificihg himself. After God’s havina liberated the nation of Israel from th~ hand of the Egyptians, or from the satanic world, they would l1ave stood intact from the invasion of satan from then on. God could then work > through them until the perft!Ct salvation of man. They were supposed to be in the ·position of havin~ to be \’lith God alone, but they inter-~arried with other tribes, the seven tribes of tl1e satanic world, so they lost
the position as the central haso. If they had kept in tact from satan, having nothing to do with the outside world, God could have sent a leader ri~l1t away into the nation who \·JOuld be far better than. the leaders in the outside 1tmrld, and throuqh him, God could have saved the nation. The Israelites should have been completely ~ cut off, senarated from satan arid consecretcd by God, so that God could work through them. By sendin~ Jesus as the central figure, God wanted to keep the nation intact from the hand of sat.:111, and then throu0h that nation, He could save the whole of man- kind. Dut, they failed a0ain as a naticn, illld ·they fell into the hand of satnn again, so God lost the nation of His choice. The Israelite nation should have been in the position of Adam before the full, but the_v fell ilgain, and by doing that, by their having fa 11 en aria in, Jesus had to be sRcrifi ced on tile cr.oss in r•l ace of the brother who would have ~one to God and asked the forgiveness of his brother, but who was sacrificed in place of his fallen brother. Jesus w~s supposed to save mankind, both on tl1c spiritual anrl the physical levels. But Jesus, having failed, meant that mankind could be saved only on the spiritual level. So, he lost himself, that is his flesh on the cross, and from then on, the physical salvation was left unaccomplished, and he had to come again to do it over from that level. He lost tile national level of sulVilticn throuoh the fall of the ~t’- ._. nation. Before being able to save a nation, he was supposed to be able to develop ~ that providence of salvntion by saving the tribe; and before being able to do that, ~ ~ . l he had to be able to save man on the family level; and he had to be able to have a man committed to Silve an individual. G , ent Jesus as the central fi ure, and b ~ending him ag.airLj nto the world, Jesus had to do things the other \<Ja aroun • With him in the center, he had to save people on the fnmily level, and then on the tribal ( level, the national level, and the world level. This is the sequel of the Christian \•:crld. Presently, the world of Christianity must be able to separate itself frcr’l the satanic world anJ come into the love of God and sacrifice itself for the sc1ke of the salvation of other people outside Christi- anity. But, they also, the people of the Christian system, have failed to restore and save man. The world of Christianity is now in the position of havina failed to do that, becr1use it is relating v!ith satan. As Bod has rer,eatcdly had to do, He is now in the position of beating the v,orld of Christianity and finding instead another ce~tral figure. Just as Joseph was the man of God’s calling, amon3 the t\·ielve brothers there must be one denomination of Christians who can fight against satari and sacrifice.itself to God for the sake of mankind. God can save mankind through thnt denonination, and by doin9 that, God can save a notion as the chosen one, and from then on, He can develop His providence of salvation over the \·1hole world. When (as in the olden days) the Israelites were one with Judaism on the national level, they were prepared to receive the saviour. That denomination must play the same role. Our Master, when he looked around the world, decided that there was not any such denomination; a denomination v,hich con fight a~rninst satan and win the victory, and come into God’s love and sacrifice itself for the sake of the whole nation and world. He has decided that kind of denonination could not be found, so he started his mission. He resolved to begin a(Jain, to pnrform the role. That is exactly hm, he started the Unification lfovement. \fo have to come out of the satanic \·1orld first. We must have a different fcelinn, from the outside world. We must be al>le to feel the love of God~ ( We mtist hate ul1at satiln loves. We must sacrifice ourselves for the sake of the whole world. With our Master in the center, if we individually win on the individual level, on the family level, on the tribal level, on the national level, ~nd on the world-wide level, we can form the tl1ird Isrnel, the chosen nation of the Israelites, spiritual Israelites, a~ain; and throu11h us, God can save the whole of mankind, both
on the spiritual. level and tne physical. , /’ . You, the members of the Unified Family, must remember that you are in the position of the brother havina nothin9 to do with sat~n who would go to God and ask for the for- ~iveness of his brother’s sins, and at least he would tell Goe! that he would do anythitig; he would even s~crifice himself for the sake of his fallen brother. In that case, throuqh you, God can save the \·:orld. In that case, you are in the position of Jesus, \•!ho, on the cross, sacrificed and could bless even the enemy. On that point is the feeling that he could sJcrifice in order to save the fal 1cn brother. lie was intact from sin. Jesus qave up everythin<J, did he not, in his lifetime? He gave out nis happiness; he qave up his earth po\’ters; and he save ur everything which the \’:orldly people would take for happiness. For the sake of mankind, he even sacrificed himself on the cross; but even on tile cross, he could bless the men of sin instead of having resentment over tl1em. You must be in his nosition;·to be willing to sacrific~ yourself for the sake of your brother, \’1ho is struggling in sin. And tll~n, the prospect is bright that mankind can be saved through you. In that Gase, God could not separate from you, but help you.
Remembe~, that this is the important formula: first, we hAve to be able to ~in vic- tory over satan, then we must cone into God’s love, and we m11st be able to socrifice ourselves for the sake of wider levels,for the \’Jhole of mankind. This is the very Princip1e and formula of hm•1 to play the central role in tile salvation of mankind by God. Until nm,, Christianity has done that, v1ithcut knm·ling the Principle and the precise background of hm1 and \’1hat God \vants thcr1 to do. f1part from Christianity, those saints, proph2ts, or great people of the \:orld have done thinCJs sir.,ilar to this. Even in the · exar~ple of man’s first ~reat leader in history, \<JC find that hf: 1·1us a person \’:ho would not ~10 \iith the vmrl d, \’tho \:ou1 d not \’✓J 1k as the other peoj)l e do, but cor:.es out of the modest role of history and stands on the side of God, on the side of goodness. Then he was under the protection of all love of God. It is a fact that he was willing to sacrifice himself fnr the sake of his nation or foi tl1e whole wcrld. That is why Jesus said, “If you want to lase your life, you will gain a life; but if you want to gain your life, you will lose it. 11 It’s a ‘kind of paradox. It is the truth. It is the Principle; it is the truth. It is one of the thin~s that we have found. Those who are first \’-lill be the lrist, and the last \·till be thr. first. If you \·talk \’dth the world, you are going to reach death, eternal death; but if you go apart from it, or go against the flow 6f fallen mankind, you will be saved and you can save the world. This sounds like a paradox, but it is so true.
The satanic world is the world of death, so by being separated from the satanic world, you will gain life. Then you are qualified enough to be in the love of God, and through you mar.kind can be saved; othen:ise, there is no other way for m;:i.nkind to be saved. If you arc qualified enough to be under the love of God, you must be feeling pity for your fallen brother, and vmuld feel like rioin~ to Father and ask forgiveness for. your brother, or even tell flim that you would be will in~ to be sacrificed in place of your brother, in orde:r to save him. That’s \’1hy v1e \’:ant tr. ::;<1c r ifice ourselves. When you sacrifice yourself for tl1at cause, God will take you for being more than Adam beforG the fall, and you become the true son of God. In that case, then, you ci’\n Jskft>(“’ the for~ivcness of your broth,~r, \:ho hes sir.ne.d. Throu1h you He cc:n save mankind. Rlease don’t forQct; this is the most ir.6ortant forn,uli1, those tllr-ee stages. You, as individuals, ~ust be able to separate yourselves from sata~, or in other words, win victory over satan, and then you have the riualification to come u11cier the ·1cvc of God, and then you must be willinq to sacrifice yotirself for the sake of your fallen brother . This r;iorning, I \’tilnt to em[1hr1size that formula and I \.:ant you to be that kind of person throu~h v1hor’l God can save fallen mankind. ~!e must form a nation, the third Israel;
Through this formula one individual can become tl1e center of the family, and by join- ing that family, and by forming the third Israel, we can safr.ly rec1ch the conclusion that v✓ e can save the ‘vtllole v;or1d. We must believe in God Alr:ii’.]ht_y, \’dlO will \·:ark with us, through us. He is on our side. You can go on \·Jitl1 confi dpnce, He’ 11 under- stand.
