Tribute to Elisabeth Riedl 14 April 2017 It is our path of life to start out from the heart of God. We are to grow up in the embrace of His love, reach maturity and form a family in God’s love. We are to become mature people who can develop our love to a global level on earth and finally return to the embrace of His love. – True Father
Dear Klaus, Eleonore, Matthias and Catharina: On the occasion of the passing of your beloved wife and mother, and on behalf of the brothers and sisters of our European Community, I want to send you our love and sympathy. Although Elisabeth’s passing will bring sadness to the hearts of those whom she loved, it is also a time to give thanks for a life well lived. For that we can be so proud.
For more than 40 years, Elisabeth has remained true to her ideals, which she learned after hearing the Divine Principle in the early 1970s. With the passion and courage that characterised her life, she went out to the world to share the good news – first in the United States and then in Tanzania, Africa. While in Tanzania she was imprisoned for her faith and suffered greatly. Yet her faith in our Heavenly Parent and in the innate goodness of her fellow human beings was not diminished – despite her bitter experience. After taking some time to recover back in her native Scotland, Elisabeth again returned to Africa, this time to Somalia. She worked there until the political situation became too dangerous.
Upon her return to Europe in the late 1970s, she continued to serve the Heavenly Providence and, with her Blessing in marriage to Klaus Riedl in 1982, she devoted her family to God. This entailed sacrifice, which was not always easy.
Through her work as community leader in Salzburg and with the Women’s Federation for World Peace, Elisabeth distinguished herself through her devotion to public activity in the cause of world peace. Her final efforts at the recent event in the United Nations in Vienna were crowned with success, very much due to her hard work and loving input, even from her hospital bed.
Dear Elisabeth, we are saddened by your sudden passing, but, as you so bravely noted days before your death, “True Father is waiting for me on the other side.” As you now begin the new phase of your life in the Spirit World, we send you with love and gratitude, as you enter the eternal and loving embrace of Heavenly Parent and True Parents.
