A Taste of Scandinavia

On the 17th May, the same day as the celebration of Constitution Day for Norway (1814), Sonja Read from Finland and Cecilie Fortune from Norway gave us a taste of what the northern hemisphere is all about.

They shared various aspects about the life, culture, music and weather in this part of the world before leading us through an interactive quiz. A slide show with beautiful scenery and music followed.

The event was supported by several embassies of the Nordic countries. This was seen in the form of posters on the wall and flyers available for guests to take home. Participants had the chance to get to know the Nordic countries through a few interactive activities, such as voting for their favourite Scandinavian country.

Cecilie shared briefly about the FFWPU and the importance to find clear values in one’s life based on her own experience. As the purpose of the culture events are to learn about each others’ cultures, she said that the goal of our work is to become one family under God and invited everyone to study the teachings of Rev Dr Moon.

To round the evening off, little tasters of kjottbollar, reindeer meet, egg with herring, creamed roe with mayonnaise and brown goats cheese on oat crackers was served.

It was a lovely evening with about 50 people attending.
