UPF Peace Talk: Interview on the Topic: ‘Atack on the Family’ On Saturday 20.05.2023, to commemorate Internaonal Family Day, UPF Germany hosted an hour-long online Zoom interview. UPF chairman Karl-Chrisan Hausmann spoke with Hedwig von Beverfoerde, chairwoman of the associaon Ehe-Familie-Leben e.V. (Marriage-Family-Life) and spokeswoman for Aktion für Ehe & Familie - Demo Für Alle, (Acon for marriage and family-demo for all) about the im- portance of strengthening and stabilising the nuclear family: father-mother and children which is nowadays greatly under atack.

In his introducon, Hausmann explained why UPF considers the family to be a God-given ins- tuon, the first ‚school of love’ and the best foundaon for the development of human life. The subsequent interview was very informave and lively because the speakers already were acquainted with each other as a result of many joint ventures. Hausmann paid tribute to Bever- foerde as one of Germany’s driving forces to save the family. When asked about her career, Beverfoerde explained that her commitment had been triggered by the introducon of a compulsory care plan for primary school children in Sachsen-Anhalt against which she successfully launched a state-wide parent iniave. This experience mo- vated her to defend the rights of parents. ‘Parental rights are rights of protecon’, she ex- plained ‘the obligaon and responsibility to care for children can be done no beter than by their parents.’ Nowadays the state atempts to patronise and curtail parental rights. We need to resist this and protect our children. ‚But there are some who rightly see the family as the breeding ground of neuroses’ Hausmann pointed out. ‘Is that not a reason to abolish the family and replace it with a beter instuon?’ ‘It has become quite clear that nothing can replace the family, not Kibbutzim, orphanages or even the best kind of child-care’ replied Beverförde.’ Of course, not every family is ideal, and injuries and hurt can be inflicted. However, it is a fallacy to see the family itself as the problem or as a false construct because it is people who make mistakes. The art of building good rela- onships in marriage and the family must be pracsed. When asked why there are so many forces today that are out to abolish the family, Beverförde suggested two reasons: firstly, people who have been hurt atain a posion where they try to reshape the world so that they themselves can no longer be hurt (one example is the gender theorist Judith Butler). Secondly, the intact family is a bulwark, a strong small unit that is re- sistant to external influences and control. ‘All groups seeking to exercise power, whether Marx- ist or globalist, atempt to isolate and thus manipulate people’, ascertained Beverfoerde. The

weakening of family es can be seen as an instrument of dominaon. To this end, people with real problems are oen used. It is no coincidence that things develop in a way that people themselves would not take, but behind this are forces which do not seek a beter society but rather wish to weaken people in order to manipulate them for their own ends. Hausmann drew atenon to the fact that all pares claim to be in favour of the family. To this Beverfoerde commented: ‚An-family polics are oen hidden behind expressions which sound good but are misleading, such as ‘good nursery law‘ (which deprives mothers of freedom of choice) or the demand for ‚constuonal rights for children ‚ (which is unnecessary and dangerous since children already have all fundamental rights). Childrens’ rights would have to be interpreted by the state and under this guise parental rights would be under- mined. In a short overview of laws passed over the preceeding decades, Beverfoerde pointed out the an-family trend: ‚with the pill, women can decide when to become pregnant-but it prevents the concepon of children. Aboron is carried out in the name of sexual self-determinaon. Pornography, the simplificaon of divorce law, ‚marriage for all ‘, and state propagated diversity sex educaon are further milestones. The later turned out to be sexualising and abusive of children, and its paedophilic background was recently exposed by Kentler Gate. The interviewees then explained the dangers of a new legislave iniave being prepared by the coalion government: the Selbstbestimmungsgesetz. This law will enable anyone over the young age of fourteen to change gender as they chose simply by self-disclosure and without any psychological report or parental consent. Beverfoerde warned that the ‚trans-hype’ which is being spread by social media and other vehicles of youth culture, misleads young people to think that their mental health problems can be resolved with a change of gender. There is a whole medical industry that has no compuncon in helping young people to atain their seem- ingly desired sex by means of puberty blockers and surgery. Thus, at a young age, an irreversi- ble and even dangerous course is set in moon. Many of those affected will later want to re- verse the conversion procedures. Furthermore, it is established that gender is not only present in the transformaon of speech. Unlike the women’s movement, the gender movement is not concerned with equal rights and opportunies, but with abolishing the category of gender itself. Our biological sex, which is enshrined in every cell in our body and is the most essenal basis of our identy, should be ignored and denied. Such an identy confusion makes one weak. If it is no longer clear what a man and a father is, and what a woman and a mother is, family can no longer be properly lived and expressed. There is even a planned reform of the family law which would expand parenthood to up to four people. In view of this situaon, the queson arises as to what can be done to warn people about damaging trends and atempts at manipulaon. Through educaon by books, brochures, video clips, documentaries and symposia, family organisaons are drawing atenon to the dangers.

A personal visit to or telephone call to the parliamentary representave of one’s constuency is considered to be especially effecve.

Following a queson and answer session from the audience, moderated by Gudrun Hassinen, the speakers presented literature and web-addresses on the topic, such as a posion paper on the bill on the right to self-determinaon, to be found at www.demofueralle.de, where it is also possible to order free pamphlets about the transgender-hype, Kentler Gate, and the rights of children. The parents’ iniave www.elternakon.de for example offers support and ps for child-orientated educaon. And at www.keinmaedchen.de girls who are thinking of becoming trans can find material gently suggesng they reconsider.
