Teresina was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1954. Her family moved a number of times while she was growing up and eventually settled in Northern Virginia. She studied Spanish in high school and college and met the Unification Church in 1974. She worked on MFT and for Original World Products and eventually became a bookkeeper for OWP in New York. This led to a career in bookkeeping and accounting. Over the years she would work as a bookkeeper for retail, publishing and real estate companies at different times. She developed expertise in state sales taxes and working with state tax auditors.
She was matched with Harry Phillips in 1979 and they were blessed in 1982 at Madison Square Garden with the 2075 couples. They eventually moved to Northern Virginia, where they raised their four children. Teresina was very active in the local church especially with Sunday School. She not only taught but worked on developing Sunday School lessons. Parents of the children and the children themselves still remember her dedication and love in helping to educate and take care of many of the children in the Northern Virginia area. She was also active in local Girl Scout activities.
Some of her other interests included an appreciation of classic Hollywood films, word and number puzzles, crocheting, and researching family ancestry. Teresina and Harry enjoyed taking trips together to visit cultural and historic sites in various parts of the U.S. She was constantly reading throughout her life and in recent years, her Kindle was always nearby, usually with a mystery novel open. Some of her favorite books and authors included Agatha Christie, Rex Stout, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter. Teresina is lovingly remembered for her generosity of spirit, infinite patience, indomitable perseverance, and unconditional love. She is survived by her husband, Harry, four children, Bethany (husband Abiel), Toby, Donny (wife Natascha), Emily (fiancé Myles), and one grandson, James, as well as her mother, Betty Ann, and two sisters, Lisa (husband Mark), and Karen (husband Chuck).
