The Seunghwa of Bo Hi Pak in Asan hospital, Chung Pyung

This morning, I had the privilege to attend a small service in Asan hospital. We were welcome at the funeral parlor by Dr. No Hi Pak and his wife [Lan Young Moon], Hoon Sook nim (Julia Moon) and the eldest son of Dr. Pak. Here are a few points I would like to share
REPRESENTING CAUSA - LIBERATION - BRIDGEPORT 2016 - VISIT OF REVEREND KWAK - IMPORTANCE OF NATIONAL MESSIAHSHIP
1. REPRESENTING CAUSA
Externally, I could be there because of my current mission for PeaceTV and True Peace Magazine
But internally, I felt that it was my role to represent the CAUSA Providence, though I am certainly one of the least qualified persons to do so and could not express anything. I was among the very few Western members there, and surely the only one in attendance to have worked directly for CAUSA (1983-1989)
In the 1980s, I was fortunate to be recruited personally by Dr. Pak when he held the first CAUSA conference in Paris (and fact-finding tour) in November 1983. In 1984, I was his interpreter for all his lectures to a group of 120 French VIPs invited to Washington DC, and I also gave CAUSA lectures with Jean-Pierre Gabriel and Pierre Ceyrac. Needless to say, the time in CAUSA remains so precious.
My last opportunity to work for Dr. Pak was in 2010. He presented the Little Angels at Palais des Congrès in Paris and I was the MC and again his interpreter in front of 3,500 people. These are moments you cannot forget.
2. LIBERATION
This morning, I could greet Dr. No Hi Pak and his wife and spend a good amount of time with them. I was overwhelmed by the kindness and humility of Hoon Sook nim, who was wearing a white hanbok. I could see that the whole spirit was joyful. They put a very smiling and charming picture of Dr. Pak and there white flowers everywhere. Dr. No Hi Pak said that this is not a time of mourning, but a joyful festival of ascension where we eat together as a family. Though the ceremony was formal, there was room for humor and laughter. When I said that this ascension must be a relief for Dr. Pak, Mrs. Moon (No Hi Pak’s wife) was not shocked at all. “True, it was a pity for us to see his recent condition, stuck in bed in a very weak body. After being a hero all his life, he was so limited, and the loss of his wife in 2017 was so painful for him. He had a long life.”
She then burst into laughter. “The record is Yo Han Lee. O my God, over 100 years, that is really unique among Unificationists”
3. BRIDGEPORT 2016
During my conversation with Dr. No Hi Pak, I reminded him about the Bridgeport conference in July 2016. I told him how important this conference had been for all of us. He was very attentive. Again, I want to thank Dr. Thomas Ward for that meeting.
4. REVEREND KWAK
A big surprise for me was when Reverend Chung Hwan Kwak suddenly arrived. I was really moved to see him. Dr. No Hi Pak told me that the ties among the 36 couples are extremely strong. I did not dare to greet Reverend Kwak, and I feel some regret. In the past, he and Dr. Pak were often in competition and almost as “rivals”. And recently, we were puzzled by his choice. But in my heart, I keep very good memories of Reverend Kwak and I was just happy to see him. Please don’t be shocked!!!
5. NATIONAL MESSIAH
Another surprise for me was that, just like for Reverend Yo Han Lee a few days ago, the first title in the tribute to the ascending person is “National Messiah”, Sweden for Reverend Lee, Cameroon (and Mongolia) for Dr. Pak. In a way, I am not surprised, because myself, I value my position as National Messiah to Laos above all else. On the other hand, we sometimes hear that this Providence is obsolete now. But though National Messiahs should be discrete and work mostly in an internal role, I believe that their role was and is still central for God’s will. In my case, I had lived as a child in Laos and my mission in this communist country from 1996 until now was a direct and natural prolongation of the time with CAUSA.
Through the PowerPoint, you can feel the atmosphere.
