1st Memorial Ceremony of Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon, who has loved peace

From July 23 to 24 when rain washed everything down nationwide, the “Report convention of 2013 Tongil Group’s first half management performance” was held for two days in the grand ballroom of Yongpyong Resort.And this was a precious occasion to make resolutions for achieving the goals of Tongil Group’s ‘VSP 2020(Vision 2020 Support Project).’

On the first day, the event began with opening prayers by Yeongpyong resort CEO Chang Joo Jeong. During the opening remarks given by chairman No Hi Park, he emphasized the significance of the background of this gathering of all presidents and executives of affiliates in one place, stating that “Former chairman Mr. Kook Jin Moon has achieved the normalization of management in a short period with healthy and highly profitable companies and developed Tongil Group into a new dimension,” and expressed his appreciation towards the hard work of former Tongil group chairmen and employees. He also expressed his wishes of this report meeting becoming “An opportunity of leading ‘VSP 2020’ into victory and since this conference is a significant gathering, which is to become the first start for an new take off, I hope all affiliates can become one with a sense of harmony.”

The program was followed by a video message from the president, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon. She revealed in the footage, “Let us live the lives of giving thanks while engaging in life and death situations, putting our backs into our work during this era,” and emphasized once again that “success is where we are headed and I hope all of you will become winners before God and the whole world.” She also encouraged with words of blessing saying “Ever since the Seonghwa (passing) of Rev. Dr. Moon, amazing spiritual works have been accomplished and if you live the life of living for the sake of others, God’s great blessing will be with you.”

The report on the group’s total performance was presented by Dong Yong Choi, team leader of Tongil Group’s office of planning and coordination. Based on the financial prospects by IMF, he stated about the importance of leading the management operation of the second half, considering the situations of the risks of rising nations’ slowdown and on the policies of China, Japan and the U.S.A., the uncertainties regarding China’s consumption-led growth, the concerns of the EU’s prolonged downturns, the risks related to Japan and the U.S.A’s quantitative easing and crisis of domestic household debts and lack of

tax revenues. He also presented as his analysis results that this was the time to try both growth and traditional-based initiatives on the existing foundations of Tongil Group and the elevation of value for the sake of the victory of ‘VSP 2020’.

Report on Comprehensive performance - Dong Yong Choi, team leader of Tongil group’s office of planning and coordination

The first person to give the report among the affiliates was Ilhwa’s Senior Vice President, Sun Wook Kim. He gave a presentation on how McCol has been advertised on public TV and cable networks over 23 years and that it is well received by the public, as well as the plans to expand Kona Coffee cafes.

The Segye Times reported through department head Ho Won Jeong that the company is trying innovation with the spirit of “The second beginning of publication” ever since the paper moved its company building to Sun tower Building in Gwanghwamun on July 27. Yongpyong Resort’s Senior Vice President, In Joon Park gave a presentation on the future design master plan of the resort complex. It brought out the charm of the Yongpyong Resort, as it continually seeks to become as healing resort where guests can restore their health and be happy at the same time.

For Ilsang Ocean Development, executive director Cheol Oeon Park gave a presentation. The company is planning to step forward in order to accomplish the goals of 2020 through the expansion of its domestic sales network and the PR of its water park. Ilsang shared its second half strategies through the activation of golf courses, accommodations and sales of timeshares.

For Sunwon Construction, Senior Vice President Jong Hee Park gave the presentation. While the company is working together in one accord internally through activities such as relay mountain climbing in hopes of winning contracts, it was reported that the company is making effort and exerting itself in order to increase sales in construction, civil engineering and housing industry.

Ilshin Stone introduced its stony mountain stonemason company and specially purchased materials through Senior Vice President Chan Shin Jeong and stated that the company is operating by focusing on the human, material and heartistic resources for the sake of ‘VSP 2020.’ He also added that the company is gathering the hearts of employees in to one through ‘Thanks Sharing Movement’ within the company.

The last speaker of the first day was TIC’s Senior Vice President, Byeong Gyu Seo. He stated that the company has constructed an infrastructure of an automobile and machine tool division and is operating through fundamental management, communication and listening, innovative management and risk management.

The second day opened with a presentation by Senior Vice President Jyea Ho Ok of Shinjeong Development. He gave reports on the present management condition of the company seeking continuous development through its prominence in the special vehicle business by focusing on R&D of quality improvement, as well as development of new types of cars, such as multi-purpose strategic vehicles and mountain bikes (UTV).

This was followed by presentation by Saeilo’s president, Young Tae Kim. He explained the current conditions according to the business such as facility management, security service business and housing management and expressed the company’s goals and determination for the second half and for 2020.

JC’s president Du Gyu Kim explained through his presentation on how the company is propelling the improvement of productivity through product development and improvement of facilities to meet the changing market trends as the competition for the sales of metal surface finishing and waste water disposal intensifies.

Seil Travels’ reports were presented by Vice president In Gi Han. As the trend of Koreans taking trips is rising, the company revealed its strategies to provide high quality services and to increase the satisfaction of customers travelling both domestically and abroad.

After presentations by the affiliates concluded, reports were presented by FFWP International office director, Seong Il Cho, regarding the world activities on ‘Vision 2020.’ He shared the news of the new heat wave of witnessing arising in each nation, centering on Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, as well as the peace movements unfolding successfully in each continent.

After all the presentations were over, the program was followed by reports given by the secretary general of Tongil Group, Jong Gwang Kim. He pointed out that the sales figures are growing, aligned with the sales goals, and added, “Now is the time to execute aggressive management,” emphasizing that “Business must be managed by broadening the areas of transparent management and self-management.” He also stated that “Six Sigma must be settled and management improvement must be accelerated.” He added that Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon has been cooperating spiritually ever since his passing, taking for example some footage on You Tube “A pastor who is currently in office had surgery for cancer and was in a condition of death for 16 minutes. And during that time he heard from the spirit world that he should learn the peace ideology of Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon.” He said all employees should work hard, taking

pride in working for Tongil Group.

Lastly, closing remarks were given by President No Hi Park. While summarizing this report convention, he stated, “The first half was a meaningful victory, but it is also in need of a new challenge,” and added, “from now on, ①Yongpyong Resort, Ilsang Ocean Development, Seil Travel would be bonded as a leisure, travel section, ②Ilhwa and Asia Forum as a food section, ③Sunwon Construction and Ilshin Stone as the construction section, ④Shinjeong Development, TIC and JC as a machinery, chemistry and manufacturing section and would be the four pillars (four sections of business) revealing the peace vision of Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon. And on that foundation we will be accomplish the goals of ‘VSP 2020.’ He also emphasized that the management policy of the group would be 1) Creative innovation, 2)Responsibility transparent management, (Ethics transparent management) 3) Growth and development management. And with such policies, the group will be leading the innovative changes.”

Dr. Sun Myung Moon established with God’s will, [3] Heartistic support: become one with the central figure and that each one of the employees need to have a sense of mission that they are ‘Public leaders in corporate management’ who have been entrusted with corporate management and with a unified heart being the second half for the sake of the victory of ‘VSP 2020,’ and presented the vision for the second half of 2013.
