May 28, 2013 — Washington, DC — The Kirov Academy of Ballet of Washington, DC (KAB) has named Jonathan Park as Acting Executive Director. Martin Fredmann, who has been serving as both Artistic Director and Acting Executive Director since early 2012, will continue as the Academy’s Artistic Direc- tor.

Mr. Park has been associated with the Academy since 2009 as a member of the Board of Directors, and has extensive experience as an executive officer of a number of business and non-profit enterprises both in the United States and Korea.

The Kirov Academy remains committed to maintaining a highly professional program of ballet educa- tion following the Vaganova Style, as well as a full in-house academic program. In order to support these programs, efforts will continue through a variety of channels to secure funding support for KAB, includ- ing resources from the local Capital area and any available national fundraising channels.

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in operation since 1990, KAB’s mission is to provide the best classi- cal, Vaganova-style ballet training to the most talented ballet students seeking professional company ca- reers. It remains the only dedicated ballet academy in the U.S. to offer, in addition to its top notch ballet training, a full academic curriculum with onsite faculty and a resident life program—all under one roof.
