UPF Dialogue and Alliance Circle holds 38th French Speaking Scriptural Sharing

To mark the ‘Global Day of Parents”, the Dialogue and Alliance interfaith circle held its monthly meeting on Sunday 2 June 2024 on the theme: “Honouring parents around the world”.

Mrs. Soraya Ayouch led the main meeting at the Espace Barrault in Paris. People from nearly fifteen countries followed by videoconference.

The first reading took a Judeo-Christian perspective and was taken from Exodus 20, verses 1 to 20 (the Decalogue), which were read and commented on by Rabbi Gabriel HAGAÏ, an Orthodox Jewish rabbi from the Sephardic tradition.

The second speaker brought a Muslim perspective: verses 23 and 24 of the 17th Sura of the Koran (Night Journey) were read and commented on by Dr. Tarik ABOU NOUR, Imam, Hâfiz, Khatîb, theologian and President of the IESIP - Institut d’Enseignement Supérieur Islamique de Paris.

As a short cultural break, we then watched a video of a meditation by Father Paul Baudiquey on the famous painting by Rembrandt, ‘The Return of the Prodigal Son’, painted around 1667.

The third reading brought a Scientology perspective. It was a text by the founder of Scientology, L. RON HUBBARD, taken from his book ‘The Way to Happiness”, which was commented on by Ms. Sana PÉNICHON, Minister of Worship of the Church of Scientology and Celebrity Centre of Greater Paris.

The meeting concluded with a question-and-answer session, moderated by Dr. Laurent LADOUCE, and some remarks by Mr. Jean-François MOULINET, coordinator of the Dialogue and Alliance circle.
