It was 45 years ago this month, October 1975, that I got my first ID tag.
During my MFT years I wore this ID through scorching hot summer days, through blizzards and torrential rains and freezing cold days where the temperatures dipped into the minus thirties.
I remember always having to find some strong tape to secure the safety pin to the back.
We had no fancy clips back then.
Most of the time I felt proud to wear my ID, saying, “yes, I’m a lay missionary with the Unification Church” whenever an official looking person would ask.
Sometimes, when a negative person would hassle me, I’d say, “Rev. Moon himself gave me this badge, and I’m proud of it!” Looking at this ID now, I’m feel so proud that I could wear it!
