Cranes Club Conference 2017

2017-01-31 · Source: tparents.org

2017 is nearly one month old, and we want to make this the year we move to the next level with our Cranes Club development. Over the past twelve months we’ve tested a couple initial ideas, with some successes and some challenges we could learn from. The most successful part of the Cranes Club in 2016 were the two conferences we organized; the first Cranes Club Conference in Camberg in January, and the Cranes Club Health Conference in November.

I believe that if we pull off an engaging and educational conference once per year, the Cranes Club will add significant value to each of our members’ professional and personal lives. I also believe that we can expand beyond an annual or semi-annual conference, and we will be sharing some ideas in the coming weeks and months that will be on the agenda for our next AGM (Annual General Meeting). Although I’ll be working with the current project managers and other volunteers to put together an agenda, all Cranes and future Cranes are welcome to share feedback, ideas, and submit proposals.

With the above in mind, I would like to cordially invite you to the 2nd Cranes Club Conference, which will be hosted in London from Friday, March 31st to Sunday April 2nd, 2017. Register today to avail of the early registration fee.

I look forward to seeing many of you in London in two months time!

About the 2017 Conference

The 2017 Conference will take place from March 31st to April 2nd in London. It will be a great place to learn from and meet fellow cranes from Europe and around the world, as well as initiate and shape the future of the club.

FFWPU’s 43 Lancaster Gate and the Columbia Hotel (95-99 Lancaster Gate, London W2 3NS, UK) will serve as conference venues. Click here to see the venues on Google maps

On Friday (March 31st) registration will open at 4pm, and then from 6pm you are invited to a reception with light buffet in 43 Lancaster Gate. No additional dinner will be provided.

Saturday (April 1st) will be the main conference day featuring keynote addresses, networking opportunities and break-out sessions such as mini-workshops, roundtable with business owners or seminar with cranes working in research. A nice dinner and musical performances will round off the day.

The AGM (Annual General Meeting) will be held on Sunday (April 2nd). We will have a vote on the Crane Club’s legal structure and elect the club’s board of directors and discuss the club’s priorities for the next year. The early registration fee will be 85 GBP (instead of 100 GBP) if you register by Feb 21st. The registration fee covers the conference costs and Saturday meals, including a fancy dinner, as well as Sunday breakfast and lunch (in addition to teas, coffee, and snacks throughout the conference). It doesn’t include accommodation, so we ask that everyone arranges their own, although we can help to organise group accommodation at a good rate. At the moment, we have 12 spots available for 45 GBP/person for two nights at the Chelsea Embankment Guesthouse. This is a great price for London, so if you’re interested in taking advantage of a group booking, we’re going to need to know as soon as possible, especially if we need to try to book more.

We’ll keep you up to date with schedules and further details as the date draws nearer. Hope to see you all there!

Registration open to all.
