Hello Fellow Cranes,

Welcome to the first Cranes Club Newsletter (CCN). Since we’re still developing our member services, we hope you find this initial publication useful. We’re very open to anyone who would like to contribute articles, news, pretty templates, and good ideas so that each edition sees gradual improvement. The newsletter is one of the benefits of membership, so if you haven’t signed up yet, please make sure to take a couple minutes and fill out the membership form.

Since our first conference in January, I was able to represent Cranes Club in a global meeting in Korea with InSup Nim. I was joined in this honour by fellow Cranes: Dieter Schmidt, Stefano Bianchini, and Matthew Huish. It was a good experience and the Crane Club members from around the world were very sincere and open with each other, and I gave a short report on our first European Cranes Club Conference. Everyone gave an introduction and a short testimony about what they’ve done in their lives and why they wanted to support the Cranes Club. One common theme among the elder Korean and Japanese 2nd gen was that towards the middle and end of their careers they felt that something was missing in their spiritual lives, so they started looking for ways to support the church community more. They saw the Cranes Club as an excellent way to fulfill this desire and use their life experience to make a positive impact. I also found InSup Nim’s speech very insightful, and would recommend everyone takes a little time to read it.

Looking to the future, we’ll be launching our mentoring program in the next four to six weeks, and preparing for the first Cranes Club Health Conference in November. We have also received some good ideas for our 2017 Conference, so please continue to send any feedback and keep an eye out for our next newsletter in July.

In Sup Park’s Message

In Sup Park shared a message in Korea on 29th February with a number of

representatives from from Cranes Club chapters around the world.

In Sup Park shared a message at the Cranes Club meeting

Beloved fellow Cranes. It is a tremendous joy and honor for me to have this opportunity to greet you all here today. I’m profoundly grateful that each and every one of you gathered for this special Cranes Club meeting, for we will share together and discuss our goals for 2016. First of all, I want to express my deep appreciation to True Parents for their lives of love and sacrifice for all of us. Also, I want to share my boundless gratitude to True Mother, who is carrying the heavenly burden of leadership of our worldwide movement. We are very proud of her, and I know we all want to do our best to support her, doing the best we can despite our limitations. In developing Cranes Club, with the guidance and blessing of True Mother, many people asked me, ‘What is its purpose?’ Frankly, in the beginning the project was met with some skepticism and doubt. However, as we launched Cranes Club in Europe, the United States and Korea in 2015, we received a lot of feedback and recommendations. We received much encouragement and inspiration, but we also received instructive suggestions for improvement. Many want to see Cranes Club become an organization that’s very interactive, focusing on dialogue, connecting and networking. Overall, I think there are several key motivations for starting Cranes Club based on my personal experience, especially as someone who was born into the Unification movement. … Read the full speech

Cranes in Flight

Our Cranes in Flight section hopes to bring you and interviews and highlights of an industry from a member of the Cranes Club. For this newsletter we got in touch with Isabelle Piolat, a professional animator.

If you feel inspired to contribute an article about your own industry or share your personal story, please contact us.

My work consisted of designing backgrounds, animals and props (items that appear in the movie) and animating some scenes. The graduation movie I made together with four classmates, “The Last Day of a Condemned Man” (Le Dernier Jour d’un Condamné), has been featured at several international festivals, e.g. in Armenia, Morocco, Portugal, Belarus, Finland and Bulgaria. Also, I just finished working as a freelance animator for a British feature film adapted from a graphic novel called “Ethel and Ernest”. It’s a nice family movie based on a true story.

What are you plans for the future? Any big dreams? I’m not really sure how things will develop in my career in the future. I’d love to keep doing traditional 2D animation for auteur cinema (but sadly 3D is much trendier these days). Isabelle Piolat, animator One of my dreams would be to spend a year in Japan and work with some talented people Who are you and what do you do? there. Animation is like giving life to an illustration. Working on rhythm and movement was new to me and I loved it! So I continued my education in Paris in a school called Les Gobelins, specialized in the technical aspect of making animated movies. I graduated in 2015.

What have you achieved in your career so far? Since I only graduated recently, my main professional experience comes from my internships. One of the best experiences I’ve had so far was working with Michael Dudok de Wit on his feature film “The Red Turtle” (La Tortue Rouge). It’s a contemplative movie

without any dialogue and it’s aimed at an adult audience. The film is co-produced by Studio Ghibli and just got selected into the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2016.

Google mostly has jobs available in its EU HQ office in Dublin, Ireland. In searching through the job site, anything with the word “Associate” at the beginning of the title implies that it is an entry level position (within one year of graduating university). For any other positions, at least 2-3 years in a related sales or marketing position is required. If the position requires some sales experience, then STF is a very good experience to put on your CV.

If you find a position you are interested in, please email your CV to Ely Loew. It would help if you include a link to a job you’re interested on the jobs site.
