Passing of Our Dear Sister HIDEKO LEWIS (NEE TOYAMA)
We wish to inform you that another one of our beloved sister, Mrs. Hideko Lewis peacefully ascended to the spirit world on Tuesday August 22nd after fighting cancer.
Hideko was born in Sendai, Japan on July 17, 1943. Her father was in the Japanese army and died in World War II, and her mother remarried and soon Hideko had a step-brother. She met the Unification church when witnessed to by Daikon in Tokyo 1963 while she was working with NHK TV as an Ikebana expert doing all sorts of floral designs. She had a bad car accident when 22 and was beaten by a Communist when a participant in an anti-communist rally held by the church. Both left scars in a deaf left ear and a troublesome pelvis.
She was introduced by Mr Otani to Richard Lewis at a lecture he gave at the annual
Unification Thought symposium in Tokyo, 2008 and they were Blessed in marriage by Reverend and Mrs Moon over a video link in Tokyo on Oct. 14, 2009. In 2011 she moved to the USA and the couple eventually settled in Nutley, NJ and became active members of the Clifton Church.
Mrs. Lewis leaves behind her Husband, Richard as well as her Brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Peter and Monica Lewis, and nieces Shawna, and Hannah.
Any assistance that can be offered to their family during this difficult time is greatly appreciated.

Last week she was hav ing trouble breathing, so she was t aken to the hospital and then put int o home hosp ice ca re. The hospital broug ht a hospital bed and a nurse was scheduled to come everyday. But aft er o nly o ne day back at home, Hideko ascended th is morning while my uncle was reading scripture (hoon dok hae) to her w hile holy songs p layed in the backg round. She was a very fait hf ul and devoted member of o ur fami ly and commun ity w ho alw ays put God’s wil l first.
