During the weekend of 15th to 16th October 2021, 14 volunteers from the Czech Republic and Slovakia came to help the people in the Moravian village Mikulčice, where a devastating tornado destroyed 300 houses and made a damage in other 6 nearby villages. Service project in Mikulčice was organized by the Czech UPF and Czech and Slovak YSP.
This project was a follow up of a successful Peace Road 2021 between Czech Republic and Slovakia in this area one and half month earlier.
Young and elder volunteers came to help the people in the village where their help was needed.
With a young spirit and spirit of empathy and solidarity the volunteers did all kinds of work. Carrying heavy concrete panels, cleaning, mixing concrete and many other things.
The participants were greeted by the mayor of the village who appreciated their help and determination to work in the humble conditions that the village could offer.
We hope that this project can inspire other people to help where help and solidarity are needed.
