Nestor Idohou, the man who wouldn’t be a mayor

The following story is really glamorous (see the PowerPoint attached for all the pictures). At first, it looks like a fairy tale, yet everything is true in it. It is a story of Unificationist happiness (in the original sense of “what happens”) but what “happens” here is not merely luck or lot. It is a matter of wise choices that all of us can make. A couple grows in love and suddenly reaches a high level of local and national recognition.

Laurent Ladouce

I am Nestor Idohou, born in 1986 in an area of Sakete, one of the five communes of Plateau department in the South-East of Benin. Benin (11,5 million people) is divided into 12 departments (French: départements) which, in turn, are subdivided into 77 communes.

I would like to explain how a simple Unificationist like me could become the mayor of this city of 114 000 inhabitants (one percent of the population of Benin) in 2020, through the grace of God and then a CheonBo couple

I met our movement in 2009 through my wonderful spiritual father, Gaetan Dandjesso, currently the president of IAYSP-Benin. I was a student in the national university of Abomey-Calavi, where CARP was very active. After attending a 2-day workshop, I attended a 7-day workshop in September 2009. A Blessing ceremony was about to take place in 2010, and I could apply. I was matched with Wousane BADJOUA, from Chad, who was then 22. After our Blessing, we could finally start our family life in 2010. We have been blessed by the birth of three daughters.

Everything started with the liberation of ancestors.

I never planned to become the mayor of my city. It was entirely the work of the Providence. Let us see how it all started. In 2012, whereas I was completing my studies at the university, I applied for a job as a temporary teacher in a high-school. With the money earned, I could buy a plot of land. Then I started to work more to buy a motorbike. During this period, and whereas I did not have all the money necessary, I was told about a workshop for the liberation of ancestors in 2014 in the Azalai Hotel of Benin. I was moved by the communication around the event and I felt that I had to liberate my ancestors.

I had little money, but even so, I decided to invest everything I had into that goal. I sold the land I had just bought, gave up the project of the motorbike and invested to liberate up to 210 generations. As a result, I had no more land, but amazingly, there was an agreement between the man who bought my land and my father. The land returned to our house, and my father became the owner of that piece of land. This showed me how the Spirit World works.

Now, let us talk about the motorbike There was a competitive examination to become a public official. I applied and was immediately accepted, the same year, and received my position. Amazingly, among the people admitted, I was the only one who was also given a motorbike. It was waiting for me when I arrived. Again, this taught me something about the liberation of ancestors. The land I had sold was returning to the family, the motorbike I had given up was there anyway, and the ancestors were free.

I could see the benefit of liberating the ancestors. I could also see that I could breakthrough in my life, much more quickly. Then, another liberation was announced and one could also fill in wish papers. I donated money and offered a wish paper where I asked God for a higher position where I could serve him better. I thought that I could become a director in my administration.

After this wish paper, nothing special happened. I had started my mission of Tribal Messiah, but did not have enough time to breakthrough. In 2020, municipal elections took place in Benin. A person called me. They were searching for candidates and he was asking me to be on a list. I had no idea of being involved in politics, so I denied. A few days later, the person called me back. “If you decide to be on the list, it will give us much more power. We may win!”

I refused again. Then, I asked them to just put my name on the list and I filled in a form, but not seriously, so my name was rejected. A few days later, I heard that the list had not been accepted because the record of one candidate was rejected. They insisted that me and another person should absolutely be candidates, if the list was to be accepted. This time, I filled in the form, much more seriously. I was in the “reserve” of the list, and my name did not appear among those who could be elected. But once again, there was a problem with one name, and then, I became third on the list, this time with a good chance to be elected at some position.

We then had to campaign. Many people believed in me. We had to win in order to make sure that at least three of us would be elected. Our list won the election and I was the third on the list. I did not expect anything, though. The people of our list held a meeting, and the question came, “who wants to be the mayor?” Well, I was not motivated.

There was much discussion and the party decided that the mayor had to be me. Not all the other advisers agreed, however, and the party leaders started to worry about the confusing situation in Sakete. Finally, the head of State himself called us and urged me to accept the position of mayor.

This is how I became the mayor of Sakete. I am surely not a reluctant mayor, I just feel that it was not my will. Rather a powerful invisible hand wanted me to be there.

First, I can see clearly the importance of liberating the ancestors and filling in wish papers, even if it has a price. I had told Heaven about my wish to be given a higher assignment in order to do more for His will. God had answered. I had never thought of becoming a mayor. I had thought about doing more for God and for the sake of others.

As a mayor, I am given a real position of authority. I become an owner who decides how things will be. God gave me a much higher responsibility than I expected originally. That’s how I became the mayor of Sakete and it is entirely the work of God. I have to use this position to attend Him better and help the population and the families to be restored. This is the logic guiding me.

The real tough job starts now, especially the follow-up of my couples. I had started the process of Tribal Messiahship to become a CheonBo couple. After becoming the mayor of Sakete, the next challenge was to absolutely become a CheonBo and I could complete everything in December 2021. I want to thank my spiritual father Gaetan Dandjesso who helped me so much, as well as Serge Guéli, who mobilized a lot of volunteers in Sakete.

The real challenge starts now. We have to establish a community which accepts the education of the True Parents, so that gradually, people, especially the young people, may align with the vision of the True Parents.

THE MAN WHO WOULDN’T BE A MAYOR

A Beninese story where God’s elect is elected by the people.

Heavenly elections • While embraciong the ideal of democracy (governement of the people, by the people, for the people), True Father warned that democracy may turn into an artificial confrontation enemy brothers. • Ideally, we should try to serve our community, but we should be humble and not pretend that we have the qualification. • The population should seek the person most worthy of being the representative. • If several people are so chosen by the people and in competition for the surpreme position, the ultimate choice should be up to God, through lottery. This can be called clerocracy • Nestor Idohou wanted to serve God, and wanted to be given a position to do so, but he never thought he might experience something similar to what True Father suggested.
