Reading of the National Charter. Reading of Officer Roles. Motion to elect Mas Kubo to Treasurer, seconded, and successfully voted for. Motion to elect Larry Krishnek to Secretary, seconded, and successfully voted for. Motion to elect Mike Farris to Chairman, seconded, and successfully voted for. Motion to elect Miwa Aparo to Vice-Chairman seconded, and successfully voted for. Reviewed Council Governance Document o Finances to be shared with the council to be high-level reports of revenues and costs, as well as discretionary budgets. o Put time limits on the comment period for Church members and to ask people members to prepare topics ahead of time by send written reports to a council email. o Create a Church Council email address. (Mas to create). o Secretary is responsible for managing the correspondence of the council email account. o Added “as needed” to the end of the rule on receiving recognition by the chairman to speak. o Motion to change rule for permanently amending rules by a two-thirds vote a simple majority, seconded, and approved by majority. o Motion to approve the governance document in its entirety, seconded, and approved by majority. Discussion of Proposed Financial Rules o Create written budget request for expenditures o Motion to approve the Financial Rules, seconded, and approved by majority. Discussion of Pastor’s Issues o Creating 10am Sunday school, and at 11am a public service What will little children do during the Sunday school period? They would be in the library with a video feed. We need a place truly dedicated for kids. The library can’t also be the overflow room. Adult Sunday school is important to convey adult internal topics. Periodically have join Sunday School sessions for all ages Sunday school teacher will miss out on the adult service and content that is very important for them. Having Sunday school after the public service frees up Sunday school teachers for teaching. Motion to approve the new service structure, seconded, and approved by majority. o Free Lunch Discussion of proposal details. One option might be to make potluck lunch every Sunday would make it free. Big con is taking away the opportunity to raise funds for Kodan. Motion to conduct two month transition period for free lunch proposal, seconded, and passed by majority vote. o Nelson as assistant pastor
Motion to elect Nelson Mira to the position of assistant pastor, seconded, and passed by majority vote. o Pastor Robert’s trip to Korea HQ will cover the costs while in Korea. Cost of this motion would be $1100 ticket and some amount for transportation to and from the airport. There seems to be conflict between the agreed upon role of our local pastor and district pastor and the decision by HQ to ask the district pastors to go to Korea twice in the first month of the year.
