Michael Kiely's Fundraiser for Laptops for African 2nd Generation Leaders
2020-08-20 · Source: tparents.org
Through Evelyne Winter, Kathy Rigney’s assistant, we received a request for support for a project concerning 2nd generation leaders in Africa.
50 members of the 2nd generation in Africa are currently being trained to take the leadership on the continent by 2023. Several of these members are already engaged in public activities.
They need new laptops. A project to buy 20 laptops (at $400 each) has been launched, and a GoFundMe fundraising drive is being organized by Michael Kiely. American members have already contributed to the purchase of 13 computers. The goal is to buy 7 more by the end of August.
Evelyne Winter called me yesterday to ask if European members can also contribute to this effort. With the agreement of Dr. Balcomb, I am sending this email.

Greetings Friends,
Fifty second generation young people all over Africa have just completed a 21-day Divine Principle workshop and are eager to contribute to heaven’s providence. Because most outreach is now online during the Covid-19 pandemic, there is currently a great need in the continent for the creation of websites and online creative content and the facilitation of webinars, including translation. A number of these webinars are with heads of state, former heads of state and other high level leaders, so they are critically important and need to be highly professional.
These young people are quite capable of providing the technical support to make this happen — if they have the tools to do so — or learning how to provide that support. The tools they need most right now are laptops.
I am Evelyne Winter, wife of the late Kevin Winter, missionary in Africa since 1975 who passed away in May 2015. These young people are the potential future leaders of Africa. They are smart, tech savvy, love God and are eager to roll up their sleeves and get to work for heaven.
After the conclusion of this workshop, they really need an opportunity to become actively engaged in the providence, and there is also a substantial need for technical work to support online outreach. Laptops will perfectly match those two great needs.
We understand that this is no doubt a challenging time for you financially. But your donation of whatever amount — however much you feel you can afford — will be a substantial blessing for the African providence at a time when the desire of these young people to contribute to heaven’s work is at a peak and when the need for their creative technical talents is significant. We would indeed be grateful if you would consider contributing now to this very worthy and timely project.
Thank you! May Heaven bless you and your family abundantly!
Warmly, Evelyne Winter
P.S.: Exceeded our goal? No problem! It’s all for the young people.

You 36 donors ROCK! To date, you have contributed $2,431. For this we are indeed grateful. With your wonderful donations Evelyne Winter has purchased four laptops so far. She said the goal is to buy 20 laptops. Other donors have allowed her to buy 9 laptops. Plus our 4 makes 13. She would like to buy 7 more to make 20 to bring with her to Africa in ten days (August 28). If you have not yet given, we would really appreciate your donation — whatever you feel you can give. If you have already given, THANK YOU! May we possibly ask one more favor of you? Would you please let your friends, contacts, networks, social media buddies and anyone else know about this very special cause? Emboldened by your generosity so far, we have raised the goal from $2,000 to $5,000. You have exceeded our original goal, and we are almost half way to the new one. If each of us finds just one more donor, we can surely make this goal! Then — High Fives all around! Blessings, Michael P.S.: We will post a photo or photos of the 20 laptops in a new update.
• AUGUST 15, 2020 by Michael Kiely, Organizer Here are the four Africa-bound laptops that your wonderful generosity has made possible. Evelyne will take them to Africa this month. They all spiritually bear your names! Surely you and your families will be blessed because of your gift!
• AUGUST 10, 2020 by Michael Kiely, Organizer Thirty-four heavenly contributors have put this Laptops-for-African-Youth over the top! Even though this is a challenging time financially, you have shown the heart of heaven toward our African young missionaries with your generous donations. Even though the campaign has exceeded its (admittedly modest) goal, every dollar beyond it will be invested in the Laptop project. As soon as we have photos of the purchased laptops, we will post them here. A BIG THANK YOU for your wonderful heart!
• AUGUST 5, 2020 by Michael Kiely, Organizer We are almost two-thirds to our goal. To our 15 donors, you have helped to make a big difference for young African graduates of the 21-Day DP Workshop. A BIG Thank You for your generosity! Will you help us go all the way? Please let your friends and family know about this. Do you know any former African missionaries? Or any missionaries? Or any brothers and sisters who might want to help? Please share this with them. Thank you!
• AUGUST 2, 2020 by Michael Kiely, Organizer We are almost half way to our goal. To those who have donated, a big “Thank You!” for your heart of offering. You are taking a big step toward helping a number of African young people to make a big difference and to grow spiritually in the process. We are, indeed, grateful!
