The Fighting Spirit of President Takeru Kamiyama

He speaks every day while taking strong morphine pain-killers twice a day.

Recently, I learned about the fighting spirit of Pres. Kamiyama and I could not but be struck with awe.

A few months ago, Pres. Kamiyama was diagnosed by his doctor at a hospital in Japan as having terminal cancer and was told that his remaining life would be just a few more months. Since then, Pres. Kamiyama returned to his home in the United States, and has been sharing Father’s words at his home every day to the members who would come to see him from the US, Japan, Korea, etc. He is determined to keep conveying Father’s messages until the very final moment of his life.

Although he has to receive an injection of strong morphine (analgesic) twice a day from a hospice nurse due to very severe pain, he always welcomes the members with a dignified and cheerful attitude and encourages them by sharing Father’s words mixed with his humorous jokes as usual. He also videotapes his talks and posts them on the website (kundoku.blog-fps,com/神山先生の講演文).

Many members have been visiting him — not only from the New York neighborhood but also from Japan after hearing the rumor that Pres. Kamiyama was critically ill. However, all of them have confirmed his unchanging and earnest love and loyalty to True Parents and they have returned home having been humbled and awed.

Recently, Hyun Jin Nim encouraged Pres. Kamiyama to set the greatest precedent and example as a Blessed Family while on earth before he returns to True Father’s bosom. He also said that the elder

Blessed Families of the Unification movement who were touched by the fighting spirit of Pres. Kamiyama should feel shame from the bottom of their hearts.

I’d like to share with you a letter which Mr. Kiyoshi Seino (777 couple) mailed to his friend regarding the recent situation of Pres. Kamiyama.

Pres. Kamiyama is not writing his personal notes but he gives lectures every other day and has them videotaped. It is his usual practice to give whiteboard lectures right away to whoever comes to visit him.

I was so amazed with the deep faith of Pres. and Mrs. Kamiyama. He said that many whom he had a hard time meeting before, suddenly came to visit him when they heard about his terminal cancer. So he and his wife rejoice and see this as Heaven’s guidance. He set up a huge glass whiteboard at his home himself right after he came back to America.

Even though he has such pain, the other day he drove all the way to North Carolina and back- for 12 hours each way! And right after he came back, he immediately prepared to videotape his lectures. I believe these videotaped lectures will be released, one by one, very soon.

It seems that there is a rumor in Japan that “Pres. Kamiyama asked True Mother to give him a Seonghwa ceremony” but this is nothing but a false and ridiculous propaganda from the church side.

Although Pres. Kamiyama focuses on giving the lectures from Father’s words every day, he sometimes jokes frankly with visitors. He tells us, “Please conduct a very simple Seonghwa ceremony for me.” but it seems that in the beginning of his time in the USA, he had shared similar comments with the first group of Japanese missionaries (1970s) to the USA when they gathered with him.

Then someone in that group seems to have urged the US church leader, “We should give him a national level Seonghwa honoring his great work in pioneering America.” Then a report was given to True Mother that Pres. Kamiyama had repented and had asked the church to conduct his Seonghwa ceremony. Then the permission to do the national level Seonghwa seems to have been granted.

However, when the representative of the church, the Continental Director Bishop Kim visited his home and said to him “I will conduct your Seonghwa”, Pres. Kamiyama’s couple flatly refused that offer, “We never asked the church to do a Seonghwa at all.”

As you can see in his video lecture, Pres. Kamiyama emphasizes the importance of “True Father’s lineage and the victory of the Three Great Kingships”. He says that True Mother does not understand that point and thus he naturally considers True Mother’s Blessing ceremony to be of no value. He considers the Seonghwa ceremony she gives the same way. Therefore, he has absolutely no reason to ask True Mother to give him a Seonghwa ceremony.

I also heard the church was saying, “Pres. Kamiyama rejected True Mother’s grace.” but they just jump to their conclusions by themselves and make noise by themselves.

It is also explained in his video lecture that he believes “the kind of spirit world a person goes after death is determined by what he does on earth” as is explained in the Divine Principle. Pres. Kamiyama has never believed that “we can go to Heaven if we follow our ‘central figure’” as many current Unification church members believe. In other words, it is not necessarily by having a gorgeous Seonghwa ceremony that you can go to Heaven.

Anyway, even though it is not very fruitful to talk to most of the current top church leaders who are just power-oriented, I really can’t understand why the elders of the church such as 12, 777 and 1800 couples remain silent about current church teachings and practices such as the theory of “only begotten daughter” or the falsification of Father’s words, which are totally against True Father’s ideas. I wonder what kind of excuse they plan to make when they see True Father in the spirit world.
