Open questioning letter to Unification Church Japan (Q #3)

The Unification Church HQ is emphasizing that Father said “After I go to spirit world, you have to become one absolutely centering on Mother as the absolute center (The way of blessed second generation, 12/24/1994).” But they are hiding that Father continued saying, “The way Mother should go has to be centered on Father’s words and the book of Father’s teaching. I do not allow other words.”

They started to work on preparation to revise the Cheon Seong Gyeong and Peace Messages before Father ascended, and they completed the revision within only a few months period, following True Mother’s direction. Therefore, I said, “It is an absolutely bad thing to revise the original Eight Great Textbooks for convenience sake. They are Father’s will to be left to the future generations.”

As you know, Father listed the Eight Great Textbooks as his will and the “best gift” for humanity, including “Rev. Sun Myung Moon speech collection (1200 volumes)”, “Divine Principle”, “Cheon Seong Gyeong”, “Peace Messages”, “Family Pledge”, “True Family, Gateway for Heaven”, “Owner of Peace, Owner of Lineage”, “World Scripture”.

He also said “If you love Father, you have to love the Eight Great Textbooks more than loving Father. (11/9/2009)”, “Absolutely you should not believe anything other than Father’s words. What I dislike the most is you adding your own words. Can you revise the documents that Father and God blessed and stamped? When you read the Peace Messages, you should not read them in your own way. You should see them as something absolute. They have the contents which your descendants can love and revere for tens of thousands of generations. (2/27/2007)”

The reason why Father said “the documents which Father and God blessed and stamped” is because he read “Cheon Seong Gyeong” five times and also he continued to read them up to eight times after they were published in January 2005. He also set “Peace Messages” as the Heavenly constitution. And he offered the Eight Great Textbooks to Heaven on February 7th 2010 and said “I have completed everything! Eok Manse! Tae Pyeong Seong Dae! Eok Manse!”.

Nonetheless, just a few months after Father’s ascension, the red covered “Cheon Seong Gyeong” was published as the Cheon Il Guk scripture, according to True Mother’s direction. Mr. Tokuno, the Unification Church Japan president, explains as follows:

“(1) “When we check the original Cheon Seong Gyeong, we find that words with the same contents are repeated. Therefore, True Mother made up her mind to make it more complete while she is alive… (2) She wants to make the eternal scripture which can continue for hundreds and thousands of years… (3) In the Cheon Seong Gyeong there are records of severely scolding leaders individually. Mother would like to avoid including such content. (Today’s World Japan, June 2013)”

“While the Eight Great Textbooks are important, (4) they do not include the words after the year 2000. She would like to create a more complete book and the Cheon Il Guk Cheon Seong Gyeong was edited. (Today’s World Japan, October 2014)”

“(5) While (True Mother) is on earth, it is necessary to organize the teachings so that division within church does not take place in the future. (6) Father also had such intention… And extracting and leaving 30% from Cheon Seong Gyeong as the essence of essence while adding new 70%, the new Cheon Seong Gyeong was published. (Unification Church Japan president message, 5/23/2013)”

Those explanations by President Tokuno are against Father’s words.

First point. There was an editorial supervision committee meeting on December 29th 2012. One of the people, who attended the committee, testified about his experience of asking Father about the repetitive content in Cheon Seong Gyeong. Father answered “The object and the environment of the age are different when those words are spoken. There is no repetition of the same meaning. Do not touch the words and leave as it is. (Letter to True Mother, 1/5/2013)”

President Tokuno, do you still think that Father’s Cheon Seong Gyeong is “not perfect”?

Second point. As Father says, “They have the contents which your descendants can love and revere for

tens of thousands of generations (2/27/2007)”, the Eight Great Textbooks including Cheon Seong Gyeong are “eternal scripture”, and there is no necessity for True Mother to make the Cheon Il Guk Cheon Seong Gyeong with a red cover.

Then, Unification Church HQ made excuses by saying “Father’s declaration to set the Eight Great Textbooks as his will for humanity is listed in Cheon Il Guk Cheon Seong Gyeong. It is listed because the Eight Great Textbooks are important. (Therefore) even if Cheon Il Guk Cheon Seong Gyeong is emphasized to be taken as absolute, it also includes the original Cheon Seong Gyeong in the Eight Great Textbooks (Problems of Chairman Kamiyama’s lecture).”

There are two deceptions in this excuse. Even if Cheon Il Guk Cheon Seong Gyeong includes the words regarding the Eight Great Textbooks, Cheon Il Guk Cheon Seong Gyeong is not a part of the Eight Great Textbooks which Father decided. Nevertheless, they are saying that True Mother’s Cheon Il Guk Cheon Seong Gyeong should be taken as something absolute because 30% of Father’s original Cheon Seong Gyeong included in the Eight Great Textbooks (President Tokuno) are included in True Mother’s Cheon Il Guk Cheon Seong Gyeong. It is strange for members to be convinced by such an explanation.

President Tokuno, don’t you believe that Father’s Cheon Seong Gyeong is “eternal scripture”?

Third point. Father said “If I said crap, leave it as crap. If I said fist, leave it as fist. (8/17/2008, Cheon Jeong Gung)” The meaning of this is to illustrate that every word and every phrase in Father’s eight textbook need to be kept untouched even if we feel it “trivial” and “unnecessary”. In other words, no matter who the leader Father scolded might be, we have to leave as it is.

When I was the president of Unification Church Japan, True Mother came to speak in Japan. In the speech text, it said “convey the words to the end of the earth”. I proposed that “to every corner of the world” is easier to understand. Bo Hi Park who came with True Mother agreed and True Mother accepted. And she spoke “to every corner of the world”. Father who was listening to it caught it sharply and scolded True Mother and myself very severely.

Father said “Now everything is done. There is nothing more to touch. I read the text several hundred times. I will notice even a change of a particle in the text. (Unification of North and South viewed from God’s providence)” We can see how much Father took the words seriously and left the Eight Great Textbooks as “textbooks for humanity” with a sincere heart.

However, they took back “Rev. Sun Myung Moon’s speech collection” (published on 1/20/2012, volume 594 to 615) from libraries and Unification Church associated people, while Father was still alive. Then, they redistributed the new books after deleting the parts which record the scolding of leaders. The amount of deleted words is as much as a book’s volume. There is no way to say something like “True Mother is more sincere than anyone in handling Father’s words. (Problems of president Kamiyama’s speech by Tomohisa Ohta)”

“Rev. Sun Myung Moon’s speech collection” is the source of all of Father’s words. If words are deleted from it, those words are lost for eternity. If deleted from the original, the people in the future have no way to study them.

How does president Tokuno explain this obvious erasure of Father’s words?

Forth point. As we can see in the letter to True Mother by the same editorial supervision committee member, “Peace Messages is the collection of Father’s last and most important messages representing year 2000s. (1/5/2013).” Peace Messages is the collection of Father’s words from September 2005 to January 2009.

In the introduction of Peace Messages, Father’s accomplishment is written as follows:

“First, (Father’s) astonishing accomplishments in order to substantiate an ideal world with freedom, peace, unity and happiness, which is the substantiation of God’s will and ultimate hope of humanity (are stated), such as the true family movement, overcoming materialistic communist ideology, inter-religious peace movement, one human family movement, international peace movement, Abel-UN movement, Peace Police and Peace Corps. Second, the settlement of God’s vertical true love, true life and true lineage to settle on earth horizontally is based on the completion of three generations of children and grand children, centering on Adam and Eve. (Therefore), True Parents made the victorious foundation through the realm of the three generation ideal family as a completed four position foundation, through the holy blessing of four grandchildren on August 28th 2006.”

In Peace Messages, a clear “vision for building the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth” is presented. Therefore, “True Parents instructed to use Peace Messages as the guidebook for the entire humanity to substantiate a peaceful ideal world (Peace Message introduction). And Father orders us to lead our lives

having no deviance from the Peace Messages. (KMS Net News, 11/14/2008).” The current confusion started when this “vision of building Kingdom on Earth” in the Peace Messages was discarded and replaced with “Vision 2020”, which just intends to expand the church.

Father asked to “immerse yourselves in the contents of the Peace Messages, which is the summary of over 1200 volumes of speeches, to the point where you can virtually know them by heart, and make them the guideline for your life (Peace Messages).” Thus, Father’s Peace Messages, into which he put his heart and blood, should not be cut into pieces. And new Cheon Seong Gyeong or new Peace Messages with arbitrary selection of Father’s message in the early 2000s is not needed.

President Tokuno, don’t you know those words of Father’s?

Fifth point. While the Unification Church says that new Cheon Seong Gyeong was made in order to prevent the division within the church, Father clearly said that the division does not take place because of Father’s Cheon Seong Gyeong. On the contrary to what the Unification Church says, the confusion within the church will take place by arguing which one should be valued more between, Cheon Seong Gyeong that Father offered to Heaven and the new Cheon Seong Gyeong, if a new Cheon Seong Gyeong is made.

“Cheon Seong Gyeong has to be kept for tens of thousands of years for your descendants. If Christianity had the Bible, which Jesus left, would they have sectarian fights? Because of this (Cheon Seong Gyeong), you cannot have sectarian fights. (4/19/2005, East Garden)”

In fact, according to the Unification Church HQ, there seems to have been argument for and against Cheon Il Guk Cheon Seong Gyeong among church members because of the introduction of new Cheon Seong Gyeong (Argument against “Criticisms by Mr. Kamiyama’s representative”). Then, what happened? In the same article (Argument against “Criticisms by Mr. Kamiyama’s representative”), it says, “as was shown in the official statement, the confusion and arguments about Cheon Seong Gyeong were settled and solved through distinguishing two Cheon Seong Gyeongs clearly.” And the article is claiming that they are not neglecting Father’s Cheon Seong Gyeong because “Black cover Cheon Seong Gyeong is still kept with care and the words are read and cited in public… True Mother did not touch the black cover Cheon Seong Gyeong itself.”

However, president Tokuno explains that True Mother’s new Cheon Seong Gyeong is for the new age and Father’s Cheon Seong Gyeong is for the old age by saying “The new Cheon Seong Gyeong never denies the value of the previous Cheon Seong Gyeong. The words in the old testament age and new testament age were, of course, different because of the difference of the realm of dispensational age. Please understand that they are appropriate for each dispensational time period (President message, 5/23/2013).”

This is strange thing. Because the Eight Great Textbooks which Father offered to Heaven are not for the old age but “the eternal textbook, in which are the content for your descendants to love and respect for tens of thousands of generations.”

President Tokuno, do you think that Father’s Cheon Seong Gyeong is for the old age and not appropriate for the current dispensational age?

Sixth point. When president Tokuno says “Father also desired to re-organize his teaching”, it is from the introduction of the new Cheon Seong Gyeong. They are pointing to Father’s words, “I have to organize before I pass away. If there are mistakes, they need to be corrected (Rev. Sun Myung Moon speech collection, 228 – 148).

If you hear this, it sounds as if Father is asking True Mother to clean the insufficient parts in Father’s words. But these words by Father were spoken on March 27th 1992 in Japan. After that, Father repeated Hoon Dok and he organized them into Eight Great Textbooks including the Cheon Seong Gyeong, and the Peace Messages, and he offered them to Heaven and ascended. Therefore, there is no necessity to make a new Cheon Seong Gyeong and new Peace Messages.

President Tokuno, do you think that the Cheon Seong Gyeong that Father offered to Heaven is insufficient?

Seventh point. The Unification Church says that Father said this about Cheon Seong Gyeong; “Even now, I am living by asking Mother to prepare, asking her whether she prepared or not, and confirming” (Today’s World Japan Sep 2011). The Unification Church is insisting that True Mother is one with Father and his words by saying “Thus, True Father asked True Mother for the preparation. Following Father’s order, Mother is uniting and acting” (Argument against the “Criticisms from Mr. Takeru Kamiyama’s representative”).

However, prior to when Father said the words above, he said “Once you know Father, you cannot exchange this book for any other one even if someone promises you the world. I don’t allow publishing it. I am living by attending this book (Cheon Seong Gyeong).” In other words, Father was just asking True Mother whether such precious Cheon Seong Gyeong is being prepared at hoon dok hae.

And Father was lamenting, “Who is the number one champion who does hoon dok hae the most? God? True Father? (True Father) Even True Mother does not like it. Therefore, I am the only one. (9/9/1999, Central Workshop Center)” In fact, those who attended Father’s hoon dok hae must have witnessed True Mother leaving her seat after around 30 minutes. Mother was not one with Father’s words.

Therefore, Father said “Now, the course which Mother goes has to be the one in which she goes centering on Father’s words and speeches. I do not allow other words to be spoken. (The way for 2nd generation)”

President Tokuno, do you follow the “other words” which is the new Cheon Seong Gyeong, instead of centering on Father’s Eight Great Textbooks?

Lastly, I conclude with Father’s words:

“If you love Father, you have to love the Eight Great Textbooks more than Father. Only by doing so can the way you go be prepared and the future Heaven where you can live be prepared. (11/9/2009)”

“I do not want someone to revise my words. They do not know why the content became as it is. You can be caught in the condition of accusation to be judged in front of all people after you pass to the next world. Therefore, you should not touch my words lightly. (4/26/2005)”

Honorary President Takeru Kamiyama
