Who is the Messiah?

First, I would like to introduce True Father’s words.

Who is the Messiah? The Messiah is the first person who is to receive the entirety of God’s love; love that springs out from His inner heart and that matches its direction with its beginning point. Then who is this person? He is the first son born of God. The elder son. Do you understand?

The Messiah is the one whom God loves most. What kind of position is most loved by God? God loves the Messiah, whom He sent, but in what type of position is God to be able to express His love to him?

What kind man is the messiah? He is the first born and stands freely before God. He is the first begotten son of God and as the elder son, stands to receive God’ love totally. Because of this, Jesus said about himself—“I am the only begotten son.” “Only son” means that he is to receive all of God’s love-from the beginning to the end. As God is an absolute subject, as a man, the Messiah also stands in the realm of absolute subject to the world. Then, what is the relationship between them? That relationship is one of father and son (parent and child). Father-son relationship. Do you follow me? Therefore, he who stands in the position to receive all of God’s love—the sum total of His love towards individuals, families, clans, peoples, nations and the world. Who qualifies to receive God’ love as His representative, who is God’s first son and transcends all these levels and all of the realms? (the Messiah) He is God’s child. The son whom God loves was born. But, if he is alone, what would he be? Next, this son must find his spouse.”

Father explains about who the Messiah is. Human history repeated over and over again in order to find this one man. Numerous conflicts and great strife had taken place in order to pay restitution as indemnity throughout history. All of human history was to find this one man. In the fullness of time, God sent this one man. He came to the earth as the Messiah who possessed all of God’s love.

Where does he find his spouse? His spouse will not come from Heaven. Since she was lost on earth as the result of the fall, she must be recreated on earth .

For this purpose, what has religion done? Heaven is plus and the earth is minus, right? Religions wished for the appearance of the Messiah by looking up to Heaven. Then, where did it wish to have the subject of love? It’s not God in Heaven but on the earth. In the human world. That is where they seek to have the love of the subject. This is the Messianic expectation. In order to receive the Messiah, they expanded their realm from individual environment to clan, people, to nation reaching finally to the world level. As the result of this expansion, the entire world would be united before the man who represents the Subject of love —God. There is no one who opposes him. Everyone obeys him absolutely. No individual self remains. All people only exist for the Messiah. Thus, it is the mission of the Old Testament and the New Testament religions to prepare the world to be such an environment with such a spiritual atmosphere. If these conditions were prepared, the restoration would have been easier. 1

To create the environment so that one exists only for the sake of the Lord was the mission of the Old Testament age and of the New Testament age. The mission of both of these ages was also to create an Eve- a spouse, for the Messiah. Once Eve absolutely follows the Messiah and that sphere of Absolute obedience is expanded, opposition to the Messiah will diminish. In this environment, the entire world will be automatically connected to the subject of love at one point. To create such an environment on the world level was the mission of the Old Testament age and of the New Testament age. Accordingly, present day Christianity and Judaism must completely follow the Messiah. Christians and believers of Judaism who have been keeping their faith are supposed to offer everything when the Messiah comes. Their faith teaches perfect obedience to the Messiah. Yet what is the reality of today’s Christians? What about Judaism today? Instead of the spirit which God desires, they are completely opposed — 180 degrees. If a religion desires only its own success on the earth, and disregards the returning Messiah and blocks the victorious completion of God’s dispensation, it will be a total failure.

Any religion with this kind of attitude will be completely broken in the Last Days, as if hit by God’s heavenly hammer. In this period of the Last Days, Christians in the world are looking for the Second Coming, but if we analyze the motivation of their desire, it is usually, “I want to be saved.” There is no concern for God’s victory on the world level. They may say, “I want to go to the Heavenly Kingdom, and I want my family and my country to be saved.” The furthest limit is usually the country. But they must go beyond the country to the end of the world; they must enlarge their concern to the spiritual world. Yet most cannot go beyond their own self, and this spells success for Satan. As long as this standard remains, God’s world cannot be born. Total Indemnity, God’s Will and the World

True Mother follows True Father. Absolute obedience will open a way. Why? The fall of man took place because Eve dominated Adam. In order to restore this mistake, Eve must be completely dominated by Adam. However, Adam must stand at the front line to fight against Satan. Satan pushes down all 6 billion people in the bottom of a pit of misery and lamentation. However, Adam is the one who decidedly made the Archangel Satan. It was not Eve. Adam stands in the position through which the final decision

will be determined by him. Thus, this is my sense of the mission, that Rev. Moon will go to the ends of the earth to resolve this issue.

The Borderline of the Heart June 12, 1967

Absolute obedience means you have no concept of self at all times. Thus, you don’t have a concept of your own existence. This is because you invest all of you and forget what you have given away. An unlimited low pressure causes an unlimited high pressure. An absolutely unlimited low pressure meets an absolute unlimited high pressure at perpendicular. At that spot, the two become one naturally. Great power is born there. When you invest completely and forget completely, unlimited power continually exists. Why is this? Your concept of invest and forget completely is linked to God’s love and heart that practice giving everything, forgetting what He gave. Because of this, the universe exists without depleting and wearing down.

The word, “Absolute Obedience” does not imply the concept of self. As long as the concept of self exists, it is just being passive. Being obedient means there is no concept of self. When God created, God Himself forgot about His own existence. Then, He invested Himself from the position of nothingness—in a complete vacuum. Therefore, He is able to look for His object of love in the realm of absolute high atmospheric pressure. This is logical.

Therefore, fallen people must deal with the proposition—absolute obedience. While God is the absolutely great subject, a small subject acts repulsively as plus repulses another plus. You must deny yourself absolutely before God who is your absolute subject. Be a minus. This is the meaning of being obedient. If you become an absolute minus, you connect to the plus in one instance. This is the principle of Heaven and earth.

What is the root of mother? It was uprooted and brought back from the world belonging to Satan. Do you understand? In order for it to enter the Heavenly family, it needs to go through a procedure. What kind of procedure? It is the procedure of love. Therefore, even though it is inside True Mother’s womb, it is not connected to the true love and true lineage of True Father. True Mother does not have true love and true lineage. She is on the other side.

Total Indemnity, God’s Will and the World

This is how history sought one man. This man is our beloved True Father. Before I joined this movement, my father, mother and I were all Christians. Actually, my father was a Christian minister. He dedicated and

worked tirelessly for the movement for the Second Advent of Christ with Rev. Jyuji Nakada, who was closely partnering with Rev. Kanzo Uchimura. This is my background while growing up in a Christian family. Therefore, I was always very interested in the second advent of Christ from a young age.

However, I was disappointed by the church as I saw many problems in the Christian churches. At the same time, I had one very troubling question. Jesus said, “Love your enemy. Pray for those who persecute you.” I could not understand this no matter how hard I tried. I said to myself, “Why should I love my enemy , and why should I pray for those who persecute me? If there is someone who is my enemy or I feel there are those who are persecuting me, I should simply eliminate them. Just beat them to death. I felt this strongly from my own sense of righteousness.

So I sought a satisfactory answer from many Christian pastors and ministers. However, no one was able to give me a satisfactory answer. Then, in the Unification church, I was astonished and moved to receive the answer through True Father. I will never forget one time True Father very courteously explained why I should love my enemy in Danbury prison.

I brought many books to Danbury prison. These books were a collection of Father’s speeches and were published in Japanese. I thought I would have opportunities to ask Father various questions that I needed to clarify and understand their meanings. I also knew that if I missed this time, I would not have a chance again to ask them to Father directly. So I carried them to my cell in the prison.

When I was reading a book by myself, Father came over to me and asked, “What kind of book are you reading now?’ I replied, ”Ah, These are speeches that you gave in the past.” “Oh, is that so? Then, please read out loud in front of me.” From that time on, whenever there was free time, I read out loud for Father. This continued until 10 minutes before I was released and left the prison. I asked Father for answers and clarifications on sections where I had questions or lack of understanding. To each inquiry, Father explained very graciously and courteously. To some content, Father told me, “I said this but it was written differently as you see. This is not what I said. This was an error made by some translators when it was translated from Korean to Japanese. This is a grave error.” Then, he corrected the section. After these readings, Father selected several speeches that reflected the most important essence of his teachings; and made them into one book. This is the book called “God’s Will and the World.”

Father instructed me saying, “Kamiyama, you must educate and lead many people utilizing this book. Educate them. All necessary words are contained in this one volume.” Because of this, I have been loyal to his instructions ever since. One day, all of a sudden, Father asked me, “Have you been educating members utilizing that book (God’s Will and the World)? Had you educated them more strictly, Japan would not have been in this shape.” Father encouraged me by his rebuke. I will never forget the feeling of sorrow that I felt before Father for the rest of my life.

Even now I want to be true to his instruction, so I devised various methods to share these precious words of 4

True Father. In order to accomplish this, I send out emails entitled “Today’s God’s Word” to many members. Also, I added the use of Facebook to reach more people. At this point, I have altogether 3,800 members to whom I send Father’s word every day. I am sending now his words, along with Father’s picture.

Cheon Seong Gyong are fearful words. Other people, even if they own several Nobel Prizes, may not touch its content.

Each and every word that Rev. Moon speaks is the word of truth obtained on the altar where tens of thousands of saints suffered and sacrificed while shedding their blood. Behind the word, there is buried the harrowing pain and heart-ache that God experienced as He could not reveal this truth to those tens of thousands of good people being executed on the gallows. So when you receive the complete word from the Principle of Creation to the Principle of Restoration, you must recognize that each word is stained with God’s tears and blood.

If you can sense the flow of tears and of blood behind each and every word, and hear the groan of death calling and prodding you, you will be able to know the Heart of God and His historical situation. Thus, you will protect the honor of the son for whom God has sought.

Who knew The Heart of Heaven? January 17, 1960

When Rev. Moon thinks about what I should leave behind when I will pass to the spirit world, I believe that “Reverend Moon’s Selected Speeches” is the best gift. This is the item that you cannot buy or sell under heaven and earth. This gift will connect True Parents with true children through blood lineage.

“Eight teaching materials and Text books wherein Heavenly Fortune and the Holy Spirit dwell.”(Published in Japan) Its first publication was issued on January 23, 2012. This is the fourth edition publis hed on September 10, 2012.

These above are samples of Father’s words that I send out through email every day. What Father continually spoke about is:

“Absolute Faith, Absolute Obedience, Absolute Love,” “Lineage of Love and Life,” “Importance of the Lineage,” “Three Great Kingships, Four Great Realms of Heart, and Realm of Royal Family,” “Forgive, Love, Unite,” “Love Your Enemy,” “Deny yourself,” “True Love begins from True Family,” “Necessity of True Parents,” “View absolutely Eight Study Materials and Text Books that are Compilations of Father’s Speeches,”Mission of Cain,” “Mission of Abel,” ”Absolute Sex,” “Live for the Sake of Others.”

You must have heard of these topics in Father’s speeches. However, I am concerned and alarmed at the current situation where these words that Father taught us repeatedly are misunderstood and are not being practiced or even ignored. Do you agree with me that these words are being ignored, now? The realm of the Royal family consists of the main and central family made of True Parents, children and grandchildren, and all of us would be connected to this main family. As you already know, in the current church structure, all of the direct male children of True Parents are excluded. Isn’t this unnatural?

Please think about why Father emphasized and pleaded for the importance of lineage, repeating it over and over again. He explained that God’s breath is linked to the lineage. Can you find any evidence of keeping it important in today’s church? This is why I am alarmed and concerned.

Who do the people of our church today consider to be the Messiah? I was fortunate to work very closely with Father and came to know who he really was. Thus, I was convicted that he is the Messiah. Do you

think my belief and view of the Messiah differs from what today’s church considers the Messiah to be? Definitely, it is different. As I am speaking out about this, I am sure the people in the church will bark at me, saying, “Why the heck are you saying such a thing?” Please consider what I just read out loud now. The Messiah is the only one who was born of this long history of restoration. Also, God planted all of His true love in him. What then is his mission? First, he must engage in the battle against the invisible being, Satan. Subsequently, he must gain Satan’s natural surrender. Since Adam and Eve had fallen, all of creation has been in the fallen realm. Second, he must find a woman out of this fallen realm and make her his object of love; then together, they must create a true family. The Messiah whom I believe in is the one who has established the standard of Absolute Love, Absolute Faith and Absolute Obedience in front of God—the absolute Subject, and has inherited all the love of God, and as a result, stands as the eldest son of God in the absolute subjective realm. I believe that the relationship between God and Him is that of Father and son. Because of these accomplishments, I assert that we must recognize and accept him as an absolute. However, I wonder if True Mother and many of our church leaders judge what father said as being of relative importance. As a result of their attitude, they have been changing the tradition that Father had built up, altering what he had spoken. On the other hand, I believe that we must build the Kingdom of God on earth and heaven that God desires. This is not only my core belief of the value of the Messiah but also Father’s belief of the Messiah. I am sharing my fundamental way of thinking that I learned directly from True Father. But, I look at the current reality, where Father’s position is being completely ignored. How can I condone such practices and leaders? When they judge him as being of relative importance, this means they are treating him in the same way as they would treat any other secular leader. Viewing his value as relative, they change the tradition and alter his words according to their convenience. If they believe that he is standing in the absolute realm and that he is the second coming of the Messiah, it is impossible for them to change the tradition and alter his words. They are doing frightening things. This means they are opposing God. They are becoming the enemy of Father. They are doing dreadful things. Really dreadful. I will introduce other words of Father.

Who was the enemy of Jesus when he came to this earth in order to save all humankind? His enemy was the group of people who recognized him, not as someone with absolute value but as someone with relative value. For this reason, Jesus painfully longed for one person, who would emerge from among many, and to whom he could say, “Your heart and my heart are one and the same.” If such a person had appeared, even if Jesus had died on the cross, his love and ideology would have been firmly established on earth. However, it did not happen that way. That was the cause of Jesus’ bitter sorrow. You should understand this.

LET US RESTORE GOD’S KINGDOM AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS October 13, 1957

I will continue reading from another speech.

Total Indemnity, God’s Will and the World

I came to know the Unification Church in 1963. At the time, I was really interested in the second coming of the Messiah, since my father was involved in such a movement. I was thinking that “ The Messiah is

coming. The Messiah is coming again. The time of the second coming is at hand.” In such a background, I was really astounded to know father and the content of God’s word.

When I was witnessed by a Unification Church member, I asked a certain question. The question was this: “If God exists, why is the world so wretched? I cannot understand it. If God is alive, how come this world is so miserable?” I had asked so many church pastors the same question. Yet, none of them had given me a satisfactory answer. I asked this same question when I went to the Unification Church. “I understand your question. I will answer your question to your satisfaction.” “What?” I had asked this question to so many people, and no one was able to answer. Yet, this one lady answered me saying, “Yes, I will answer your question.” I was asking myself, “Who is this person?” Then, she asked me, “I can see you believe in God, right?”

I replied, “I don’t really know if I believe in God or not. But, I cannot say definitely God does not exist. I am living here but I was not born on my own volition. I cannot deny that some great power keeps me alive and lets me live my life. Of course, I know clearly that if someone stabs me, I will die. If I die, then no matter how much I want to live again, I can’t regain my life. What I mean is that I am not living or doing things by my own power but I am living because something with great power and will lets me. If it is God, God may exist. Anyhow, I cannot assert that God does not exist.” Then, this person said with confidence, “I understand it.”

She continued, “Let me explain why this world became like the one you told me.” She started to talk about the Fall of Man. The content was very new to me unlike what I had heard in the Christian church. I was astonished. After the talk, she said to me, “What I talked about today is like the tip of the iceberg. There is a lot more I want to share with you.” “Oh, there is more?” She asked me, “Can you come back here tomorrow?” ”Oh, can I come here tomorrow?”

Next day, I returned there at the appointed time. I heard the lecture of the Mission of Messiah on that day. She explained the deeper meaning of Jesus’ crucifixion despite the fact that he came as the Messiah. I was shocked. While shedding tears, passionately she taught me saying, “The Crucifixion of Jesus Christ is the symbol of man’s faithlessness.”

The Cross was visibly displayed on the top of the roof of our house. So I have bad memories for when I was a child, I was ridiculed and laughed at because of it. I was picked on while kids were laughing at and calling me, “Amen, So-men and Cold so-men (so-men is a kind of noodle dish and this phrase is used to ridicule Christians).” (Laughter) Of course, I must have heard the phase—Amen, so-men and cold so-men. (Laugh) I cannot forget those days. After I heard the entire lectures of Divine Principle, I decided to offer my life to God. There were only tens of members who had joined this movement. I must have some mission to fulfill. As soon as I made up my mind to dedicate my life, I moved in to the movement. I left everything behind. I quit my job and walked into the movement.

I went pioneer witnessing to Shimane, Hiroshima, Nagoya, Niigata, Nagano, Hakodate and then to Sapporo. Pioneer witnessing meant that I went there with the goal of establishing a church. At the time, our church was not in all of the prefectures in Japan. It was 1964. I worked hard in 1964, 65, 66, and 67. The first time I met True Father was in 1965 when I was pioneering in Hiroshima. It was during Father’s visit to Japan. I really was impressed when I met Father face to face. As my father was a clergy (pastor) of a Christian church, it became a huge problem when I joined the Unification Church. My father thought his oldest son, Takeru, got mixed up with this crazy cult. I argued theological issues with my father. It was a heated back and forth argument. My father yelled at me saying, “Takeru! Are you saying that the content you heard in just three days will throw out my life of faith that I have built up, dedicating my own life for 40 years?!”I could not return to my home for 2 to 3 years. He would not allow me to come. After this incident, I focused on witnessing totally. Although I had prepared to give a lecture standing in front of people, I finished teaching the entire Fall of Man in just 8 minutes! I was so frustrated at my 7

inability to express and teach the content that I knew in those days. I studied desperately. After a few years had passed, I was able to give the entire Divine Principle lectures with authority.

When I came to Nagoya, I lectured the Divine Principle every day, and so many people started to join our church. When regular church attendance reached about 200 to 300 people, I invited my father to come to Sunday worship at my church. I just said, “Please just stop by.” He came and stayed in the back of the church and listened to the content as I preached in front of 300 people. He was flabbergasted! Just blown away!

He thought to himself, “That Takeru is giving a sermon with confidence in front of 300 people! (Laughter) What is going on here? How many people have I witnessed to in my 40 years of life of faith?”

From this time on, my father started to listen to God’s word despite the fact that he had adamantly opposed me initially. Later on, he worked for the Unification Church. He loved Tue Parents greatly. In 1978, my parents received the Blessing for the previously married couples. He spent his last years speaking and sharing God’s word throughout the world after receiving the title of Special International IW. (Applause) Then, he passed away peacefully at the age of 99 years and 9 months old.

Father told me, “The reason why I have used you is that you have the background of Christianity. Rev. Moon represents the Adam nation and you represent the Eve nation. I must put a representative of the Eve nation as my direct support in order to pioneer here. So, I chose you. I chose Kamiyama with a Christian background from the Eve nation. Also, I heard that you have studied God’s word and have been able to lecture Divine Principle. That is why I use you. Rev. Moon represents the Adam nation. In order to pioneer the world, Adam and Eve nations together will do it.”

At the time, father said, “Kamiyama, you have witnessed and brought good results. So, I want to invite you to travel with me. This is for your reward.” It was November, 1972. I would like to talk about what Father meant by “good results” as he said, “Let’s go traveling together, for you brought good results.” In 1968, the leaders of the Japanese church visited Korea and True Father headed up the conference. In the middle of the meeting, all of a sudden, I heard him call for me so loudly. “Kamiyama! How many members do you have in Nagoya church?” Surprised, I answered, “Yes, I have nearly 300 members.” I responded hoping that he would recognize and praise me. I cannot forget father’s smiling face. “Oh, good. You have 300 members already.” “Yes, there are.” Expecting to receive praise, I answered, “Yes,” loudly. However, the praise never came. He never recognized me. Father continued, saying that Father would assign one half of the 300 of Nagoya church, at least 150 members, to new posts for the sake of creating the financial foundation for the worldwide dispensation.

What??? 150 members will be reassigned from Nagoya church! He also added that I must prepare all vehicles that those 150 people would use for their new missions. How many vehicles do you think were needed? If I purchased 15-seater micro buses, how much would it cost to purchase ten 15-seater micro buses? We did not have such an amount of money at Nagoya church. If I followed, what would happen to 8

Nagoya church? The foundation of the church would crumble. It will be a disaster, I thought, if we ship out 150 members. Noticing my inner struggle—as Father looked at my facial expressions—and he encouraged me. He clearly said that Mr. Kamiyama should pick out these 150 people according to this criteria—young, healthy, and internally and externally excellent people. “Is this okay?” ”Do you understand it?!”He continued, “Don’t worry Kamiyama!” Your concern is limited to Nagoya. But, Rev. Moon looks at the situation of Nagoya from his concern for the world and then for Japan. He concerns about Nagoya from this perspective. So, Father was more concerned about Nagoya than Kamiyama.

Do you understand my complex feelings at the time? Father does not know the situation of Nagoya! If he did, he would not have pressured me to do this impossible and difficult task. I had a strong urge to reject his request inside my heart. I only told the truth because of my hope that he would compliment me. Had I known this was coming, it would have been better off not telling the truth. This was what I thought about at the moment. So I reflected on my desire for praise and my selfishly prioritizing Nagoya over everything else. Upon returning to Nagoya, still wallowing in my struggle within myself, I told several members that I made this promise with Father. I promised! But inside me, still I was struggling what to do… One sister told me: “Prefecture leader, let’s do it. You have always explained in your lecture what the proper relationship between the whole and individual should be. You said that there is no individual purpose that prioritizes before the purpose of the whole. Also, there is no whole purpose that does not protect the purpose of the Individual. So, if we live for the greater purpose, God will take responsibility for protecting our church. So, let’s do it. I repented for my attitude of faith after being corrected by this sister. I made up my mind and selected 150 members and quickly fulfilled the promise. It was a painstaking process to select them. Right after the 150 people departed, I noticed our sanctuary was nearly empty at Sunday morning service. Our church operating fund balance reached the bottom. I kept reminding myself that God would take responsibility and that spirit world would assist us. But, deep in my heart, I doubted that it would really happen… Faithlessness and doubtfulness tried to occupy my heart. Then, I corrected my heart in repentance and prayed every day. As I regained my conviction, I put a full effort in to witnessing. Uniting with the 150 brothers and sisters who remained, together helping each other, we invested all of our efforts.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, I continued to give Divine Principle lectures. Six months after having sent the 150 members away, about 150 new members joined our church, and increasing numbers of them decided to dedicate their life to become full time members. I thought I was witnessing a miracle. I felt to my bone that God took responsibility for us and the spirit world assisted us. So, this incident became one of my fond memories.

Let us bring back my talk!

“Since you brought good results in witnessing, let’s go traveling together. This is your reward.” Of course, it would be really nice just traveling. (Laughter) Back then, I decided that I didn’t have any confidence to learn a foreign language and had no ability to speak other languages. I was not confident to be able to learn either English or Korean. Conclusion, I would not go overseas or become a foreign missionary. If living for the world is an absolute prerequisite, I would do so by educating and sending many members who could go on overseas missions from Nagoya and Japan. By doing so, I will beg for forgiveness for not going myself. But Father insisted, saying, “You did well, so come traveling with me.” Finally, I said to myself, it is just a trip and it is no problem. (Laughter) I joined Father for the tour. For about 40 days, I went to many places with Father. After maybe 30 days, or definitely by 40 days, I started feeling an urge to go back to Japan—feeling that this tour is over so I had to return to my place. I received an urgent request from Nagoya telling me to come back there as soon as possible. I decided to ask Father about going back today (moving his hand from his chest to throat). When I started to talk to Father I was thinking that he was listening to me, then he changed the topic and spoke about a different matter. I tried many times but lost all chances. Finally, I determined to speak to him telling myself, “Absolutely today.” On that day, he came to me, and suddenly Father said this. “You! Kamiyama! Let’s work together here in America.” What??? What is this, 9

Father?… I told him that I couldn’t do it because I couldn’t speak English. “You can do anything, if you think you died.” “Father, I can’t speak English. I am incapable of learning a new language!” “What are you talking about? Let me see, you can’t do it because you can’t speak English? You should know there are many people who cannot speak English living in this country. Some people are deaf and dumb but still are living their life. Comparing to them, you are much better off.” (Laughter) He told me if I thought I would die, then there is nothing I should worry about including Nagoya or Japan. I had to make up my mind. I did not go back to Japan for three years. When I left Japan, I was supposed to return very soon. “I tell you what you will do here. As the person who is responsible to save the world, I came to America. For this reason, I never spoke in public in Korea. Finally I am standing in the position of the world, and I must declare God’s given word to the world in America as our foundation. You must prepare such a podium.” “But, Father. I can’t speak English.” “Don’t repeat such a thing in front of teacher!” The first venue that I was told to prepare was a speaking rally at Carnegie Hall. Its capacity is 1,300 people. I was told to fill the Hall, for all three days. “Rev. Moon will conduct a three-day speaking rally. You must bring people to fill all the seats. This is your responsibility. You who represent the Eve nation are responsible.” In order to accomplish this task, several Japanese missionaries came but they couldn’t speak English. Other missionaries came from Europe. With a handful of the missionaries, we had to prepare for the three-day rally. All brothers and sisters worked very hard, even though they did not understand English… For example, some Japanese member brought a guest from the street to our church. But after telling the guest, “Come on! Come on! Come on!” he couldn’t speak any more. (Laughter) Then, we were supposed to give a lecture on the Fall of Man. What he said was, “Adam and Eve. Icha, icha (Japanese expression roughly translated to “too body body“) No. No. No. No.” (Laughter) Of course, it is different now. Those members now speak English fluently. I am an exception… Another example is, what type of people our members brought to the church? We brought prostitutes who were standing on the street near our church. This was our situation when we started.

As you see, we could not bring people to fill the auditorium of 1,300 at Carnegie Hall. There were empty seats in the Balcony level. I had promised to father that I will fill the auditorium no matter what. Consequently, I could not fill all the seats. I was extremely sorry to father. After the three-day rally was completed, I went to Belvedere where father lived at the time in order that I would give my final report on the event. When I went to the house, Father happened to be standing at the door. As soon as I saw father’s face, I broke down crying as I was overcome by feelings of remorse and chagrin. “I am sorry!” I apologized with my tears. Father looked at me and said, “Kamiyama, don’t cry. Don’t shed tears. You should channel your chagrined feeling, for Rev. Moon made a new plan for a rally at Madison Square Garden. So you should draw on your chagrined feeling and redeem yourself there.” (Laughter)

Campaign Staff, August 27, 1974 At the moment, I didn’t know anything about Madison Square Garden. So, I went to this place called Madison Square Garden that father had mentioned, on the next day. I entered and surveyed inside the Garden. It was gigantic! How enormous it was! I learned that its capacity was 25,000 to 30,000 people. I went to the elevated section and surveyed the whole interior. We had to bring people to fill this venue? Who would do it? Am I really in charge for this? My legs were really rattling. Quickly, I went back to Father and asked if he could find another venue beside Madison Square Garden. He replied, “We will do it at Madison Square Garden! It can be done!” I said, but Father, we could not fill 1,300 seats at Carnegie Hall. “What? You must just do it!” Father was still youthful. Father’s spirit and drive were outstanding at the time when he came to America. His spirit and drive were the highest and strongest. “Do it. You must become completely one with me. You must be one with the realm of Rev. Moon’s heart! Follow my direction with absolute obedience. Then it can be done. You can do it!”

The preparation for the Madison Square Garden Rally began with Father’s strong encouragement. All of the members gave an all-out effort. Finally the day of the event came. So many people came to Madison Square Garden, that day. Inside, the Garden was filled with the capacity crowd of 30,000. In addition, over 25,000 people crowded outside of the Garden because they could not get in. It was pandemonium—people pushing each other trying to get inside. As I saw this, I said to myself, “Got it! We did it!!” (Laughter) That was what happened.

Father’s speech finally started. Shortly after the speech began, a guy, standing on the chair, disturbed the speech. He yelled calling father, “False Christ!” There was commotion all around the Garden. I felt that no one can disturb this meeting, which we had prepared, vigorously pouring out our hearts and souls. Without thinking about it, I ran up to him in a moment and found myself standing right behind him. I grabbed him and dragged him outside. (Laughter) I don’t know how and where such tremendous power 11

came to me. I remember the policemen were following behind me. However, the venue was still unsettled and in commotion. In the mist of the confusion, Father started to sing a song. It was a song about flowers blooming on a mountain. As He sang the song, the auditorium became quiet and under his command. Do you know the song? Flowers bloom. Sanyuhwa? After he calmed down all the attendees by singing the song, I thought it was impressive and dramatic when he started to speak again. As 25,000 people were disturbed and chatting with each other, father brought them quietly under his control. He was really great. Later I learned that the man who disturbed the meeting was a Korean who belonged to a Christian Church in Korea. The next day, all members who worked hard for mobilizing people to Madison Square Garden gathered together to celebrate the victory. At the celebration, father was calling me, “Kamiyama!” “Yes!” “The next rally will be at Yankee Stadium.” (Laughter) He told me that I would be in charge of mobilization. You bring people there. You must bring 50,000 people.” “What??? I can’t speak English, yet.” Father said, “You are repeating the same excuse again!” The rally at Yankee Stadium would be on June 1. “You must be one with Rev. Moon. You do everything in the realm of Father’s heart. Be one with Father! Once united into one, we can do it.” As I was encouraged by Father, I gave myself completely to prepare for the rally.

Finally the day of the rally arrived. From the morning on, the weather looked gloomy. As we neared the beginning of the rally, very dark clouds were gathering rapidly as if to press down Yankee Stadium. What was going to happen? Will God protect the event from bad weather? If Father is the Messiah, God will absolutely protect it. Then, just 30 to 40 minutes before the beginning of the rally, finally the dark clouds burst open and there began a downpour as if someone poured huge buckets full of water from heaven. 60 mph wind gusts blew through the stadium ground. Yankee Stadium is a mortar shape. The cloudburst was blowing inside it like a tornado and every single decoration was flying and blowing away in the air. I felt an urge to report what was happening and dashed to the waiting room where Father was praying (the room where baseball players prepare and wait before the game). I was soaked and wet from head to toe. “Father! It is no good!” “It seems like God has forsaken the rally. God abandoned the rally! God abandoned!” Father shouted back at me, “What are you talking about! You will never know until you give your best. We will do it until the end. We will do it here!” Father was determined and almost threatening as he told me. Behind the chair that he was seated in, a large portrait of Father was hung on the wall. At the same time, this poster fell to the floor making a loud noise even though there was no wind inside the room—a bad omen of terrible things to follow. (Laughter) I was pushed forcefully out of the room by a very intense Father. I realized that rain was coming down even harder now. “What shall I do? What can I do?” While I was in a quandary, I heard one person start to sing. The song was “You are My Sunshine.” Singing the song in the downpour! Then one joined in and another joined in singing. Soon, it was spread over the 12

entire stadium. Including all the guests, everyone was standing and singing in the rain in unison. All are united and singing together. Through the music, all people at the stadium truly united into one. Then, all of a sudden, it stopped. The dark clouds that hovered over the stadium were dissipating and the sun’s rays dashed into the stadium. The moment was so dramatic and moving. (Applause) Then, all staff people started at once to prepare the decorations that were totally destroyed a few minutes ago. No one gave the order but all are in one mind and working to prepare for the speech. I must be giving orders to reset the place properly. But, there was no time to do it myself. I was standing stunned. Everyone was doing what needed to be done. Some people were trying to bring back their guests back in the stadium. Others were working to reset the stage. Looking at them, I felt that everyone took initiative at once, and that God must have been working behind them or the spirit world was assisting them. By the time when Father stood on the stage, everything was cleaned and prepared. Father looked really moving and wonderful when he gave his address at Yankee Stadium. You may be doubtful or disbelieving of what I said. You may think that Kamiyama is lying to you. I have a documental film on the event.

The tornado blew all the decorations down in the stadium. What I learned through this experience is that the secret of victory is to be completely one with Father. I felt to the bone the importance of unity with him. After the completion of the Yankee Stadium Rally, there was the victory celebration. However, I could not enjoy this victory from my heart. It is because there were some empty seats on the upper deck even though we gathered 50,000 people to the event. Of course, people were surprised that we were able to pull off the rally under such severe weather conditions. However, I was not satisfied. Because of this feeling, I sat in the back during the celebration. I could not see Father straight in the face.

Father found me, “Kamiyama! You must feel chagrined.” Father knew my heart very well. “You must release your chagrin and pain at the Washington Monument Rally.” “You must gather 300,000 people there!” “You are in charge, Kamiyama.” (Laughter) I honestly thought Washington Monument Rally will take place several years in the future. “I set the date on September 18 th, so you should get going.” I was still thinking that it will be September 18 th in several years later. However, father continued saying, “September 18 th is in three months. So you must prepare for this.” “What??? Three months later on September 18 th!.” We had spent all our funds to prepare for the Yankee Stadium Rally. What we had was only debts. I replied to Father, “Father, we don’t have any more money! Father, it is very challenging just to raise funds now.” Father’s answer: “You must do it. You can do it.” At the time, Father was full of strength and

intensity. Father said, “If you unite with Father in oneness, you will be able to.”

I will read another excerpt from Father’s word: How serious was I? Many we ll meaning people even advised me that for the sake of the church we should be a little quieter, “Why do you want to make all the commotion of a Washington rally?” Even some of our leaders ca me to me saying, “Father, this will be a blunder. We just did Yankee Stadium and we need more money, more men; it is really impossible to do it this year.”

But I remained determined. “This is the showdown of my lifetime. I will give my sweat, my heart, and my life to do it.” I decided to give everything — myself, my fa mily, our members, whatever economic strength our movement could mobilize — everything that I could possibly give to successfully make that offering to God in Washington.

This was not actually my showdown; it was God’s showdown. I knew that God could not a fford to fail in the Washington rally, and I knew that God was the most anxious. Therefore, I was confident that God would come to our aid and I had only one conviction, “We shall succeed. We shall win.”

I want you to know that September 18, 1976, was like m y day of execution. I deeply felt like a crim inal who had been sentenced to death and was going out to be executed. That is how serious I felt that da y, utterly dead serious. Until September 18, I completely lost track of time. I mistook my breakfast for dinner and my dinner for breakfast. Time swam in my mind. Even on my wa y to the bathroom I would suddenly find myself in a completely different place because my mind had gone blank. You cannot imagine how serious I was during that campaign; only God knows. How can I express to you th e seriousness of September 18? Th e showdown of God was at hand. The showdown of the entire struggle of goo d and evil was at hand. The entire destiny of the Unification Church was before me that day. Unless all the conditions could be established for God’s power and th e en tire spirit world to be connected to the earth on that day, I knew that I would not succeed. I was utterly serious.

In the end, 300,000 people gathered at Washington Monument. It was a miraculous event and the most impressive event. I will share with you a picture of the event. As you see, these were the people gathered at the Washington Monument.

Whenever Father came to encourage members who were working for preparing the rally, we experienced many things. While listening to reports, what Father emphasized always was this: “Unite into one with the realm of Father’s heart, then you can accomplish this.” We all invested our wholehearted efforts while seeking the realm of his heart. Father was very young. You can see it if you look at the pictures at the time. (Laughter) Now, my hair gets all white. Well, the rally was completed as a great victory. After that, a lot of people were concerned or even afraid of Rev. Moon’s movement, which had become very influential in society. Some thought it would cause a major problem if Rev. Moon was allowed to stay

in America. They began searching for a scheme to kick him out. At the time, Father wanted to move America for the sake of the world restoration by supporting and lifting up President Nixon. However, neither President Nixon nor Americans moved toward the direction of Father’s desire.

February 1, 1974 The Meeting with President Nixon at White House

The American public did not respond. Instead, American citizens did everything they could to impeach President Nixon. Observing this situation, Father organized the 7-day fasting demonstration in front of the UN building, and published his message, “Forgive, Love, Unite.” I read excerpts from this message.

Today we hear so much about America’s troubles - what is wrong and who is to blame, what should be done and what cannot be done. Vicious accusation is becoming a daily staple in the American diet. Hatred and bitterness are killing the human soul. Some people cry out “Impeach the President.” Opinion is divided, and the people talk on. Should the President remain in office? Should the President resign or be tried? We were all witnesses to America’s assassination of her President, John F. Kennedy in 1963. But today, without many realizing it, America is in the process of slowly killing her President once again. A bullet killed Kennedy, yet the nation united in a common feeling of sorrow and repentance. This time the “bullet” of hatred and accusation is capable of destroying not only the President, but the nation with him. In a war of hatred, no one is the winner.

All thinking American people feel grave concern for the future of their country. Some even believe America has been struck a fatal blow. However, at this critical moment in American history it is disappointing and strange that no one is asking, “What is the will of God?”

I bend my head and place my ear upon the heartbeat of America. I hear no one seeking the solution from above. We keep on criticizing and the nation sinks; we criticize some more and the nation falls even farther, deep into greater peril.

The answer came. The first word God spoke was “Forgive.” America must forgive. Whatever wrongs have been done, whatever mistakes are being made, America has a noble deed to perform. America must forgive. The Watergate affair is an error: not only the error of a few men, but the error of humanity, the error of the American people. The Lord’s Prayer says, “Forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors.” If we want God to forgive us, we have to forgive each other first.

Jesus’ message was forgiveness. “He stood up and said to them. ‘Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.’

Who among you will be the one to cast the first stone? This is no time to cast stones upon your leader. This is no time to cast stones upon one another.

The crisis in America today can be overcome. We must rekindle our faith in God and reunite ourselves in love. America’s destiny is inseparable from the destiny of the world. America’s well-being affects the plan of God. God chose this nation as His champion in his modern day dispensation. With the bicentennial celebration a few years away, God is testing America through the Watergate problem. America must demonstrate unity in love and forgiveness. Let us renew our faith in God, for this has been the wellspring of America’s power. America must live the will of God. She has no alternative.

“In God We Trust.” In these four words lie America’s key to survival and prosperity. America must live the will of God, and God’s command at this crossroads in American history is Forgive, Love, and Unite!

However, American citizens did not understand the situation. As a result, it became difficult to fulfill God’s plan—the dispensation of world restoration centered on President Nixon. Father told me, “In order to set indemnity condition for this failure, I will go to prison. The responsibility lies on the Adam nation and Eve nation. We must expiate the failures of President Nixon and the American people. Therefore, you and Rev. Moon will go to prison together.”

Let me read an excerpt from another speech: … I had to liquidate the unknown historical incidents until now in Danbury. Historically speaking, this time was equivalent to the same time as crossing over 1945. At that time . . . Why did I have to go to Danbury? It is because Nixon failed his responsibility and subsequently Carter failed as well. Rev. Moon had to take responsibility for America’s failures in the providence.

I Learned many valuable lessons in the Prison

I was fortunately allowed to attend Father 24 hours from morning to evening and evening to morning. Through this, I learned a lot of lessons about who Father really is.

I would like to share some of the lessons I learned today. As I was admitted into the prison, I was stripped naked and searched, to see if I had any weapons or drugs. Father was stripped naked too for such a search. After that he was told to wear the prison uniform from the dirty uniforms that were thrown into the laundry basket by the prisoners who left the facility earlier. He was told to use the dirty one. As I observed how Father was mistreated, I could not hide my indignation. Why the most advanced nation, America is insisting and ordering us to use a soiled and smelly prison uniform and even underwear.

It was a very hot summer day when we entered the prison on July 20 th. From the get go, we had to endure the humiliation of wearing dirty underwear soiled with sweat, with an appalling odor. We had to fish out among unwashed dirty clothes in the laundry bin. I felt fine with this, but why Father who came to save America had to undergo this? I was in pain seeing Father walk this miserable and humiliating path. We went to our assigned bedrooms after changing to the prison uniforms. Let me show you how the bedroom looked. (Shows the picture of the bedroom) It contained bunk beds with hard mattresses—that felt like they were made of straw.

As I was wondering how in the world we were to sleep on the bed, a prisoner came over and told me, “You have no sheets. No pillow. If you need them, just go get them from the laundry room.” So I went there only to find there are stained sheets with someone’s sweat. I carefully selected the “cleanest” among them. While I was preparing Father’s bed using what I found, I was overwhelmed with uncontrollable anger. When I leave this prison, I will never go easy on them. Those ass prosecutors! I will destroy them and their families. I could not help but thinking such thoughts.

I heard myself screaming in my heart. Love your enemy? Forgive? No I can’t forgive! As I was struggling with my thoughts, seeing through my heart Father said to me, “Kamiyama, why are you bothered and upset? Please don’t worry about me.” But, Father! You say don’t worry but their cruelty toward you is too much. “Don’t worry, I am fine.” He continued, “The most miserable place can link to the highest place. Humanity does not have parents, so that brothers are fighting among themselves. They don’t have parents. No parents. Humanity needs True Parents. Unless True Parents go through the most miserable place with gratitude, they are not qualified to be True Parents. So, I will go with gratitude.” “Father, I understand it in my mind but they are too spiteful…” “Kamiyama, then think this way. You know a diamond, don’t you? Diamond becomes a diamond as coal being transformed by heat and the environment. If a diamond is set on fire it could burn because it is linked to coal. So, it is logical to say the most miserable place is linked to the highest place. You must go to the most miserable place with gratitude. You must not hold resentment towards the place.” Father noticed that I was not satisfied yet… He continued to explain as follow:

“Kamiyama, now you think this way then. You are a man, right?” “Yes, I am a man.” “If you are a man, you must have a male sexual organ, right? Think about the sexual organ. It is used to excrete things that the body does not need. It functions as an organ to excrete urine. You know it, right?” “Yes.” “It is also used as an organ to start the most precious life, doesn’t it? The organ that initiates the most precious life and the organ that excretes the dirtiest waste are linked. So, why can’t we be grateful and digest the most miserable place?” Like that, he persuaded me.

I was very grateful to Father that he taught me by his example through his behavior. I came to a deep realization through Father’s example that you must not consider anyone as your enemy even if they acted against you. I saw it with my own eyes. I learned from him. I eyewitnessed Father living his philosophy. Father taught me saying, “If this is the path of indemnity to save America and the world, Rev. Moon is willing to go with gratitude. So, you must not resent them. Don’t hold a revengeful heart! You must love America more than your own country.”

From Rev. Moon’s perspective, my home country, Japan was the enemy nation. However, Japan was defeated and lost everything. Rev. Moon knew that God does not wish anyone to beat up with fists such a defeated nation. Rev. Moon determined to love the Japanese people—enemies who were chased away. Rev. Moon helped them pack their luggage and helped them escape from the danger that they would face if they stayed in Korea. Then, why do you think many young Japanese follow Father? It has to be so based on the principle of Cause and Effect. This is why you must love America. He explained and commanded me to do the same.

I now want to share our life in the Danbury prison. A life of Hoon Dok—our transition of reading God’s word—was initiated from this Danbury prison. Every day, I read God’s word with Father. Since we read the word out loud and it might cause some inconvenience to other prisoners, Father chose a location outside. It was at the corner of the exercise ground adjunct to the inmates’ quarters, where large pieces of lumber were placed on the ground. Father decided that place would be our sanctuary where we would spend our time of Hoon Dok. I sat next to True Father as I read the words out loud.

As I read the words, Father stopped me and explained the meaning. Again I read and then Father explained what I read. One day, he told me, “Kamiyama! This wood that you and I sit on will be very famous. It will be really good if you can take it with you when you leave the prison.”

On one rainy day, we were reading the words in our bedroom. Father was sitting next to me on the bottom bunk bed. During the reading, one of the prisoners came in the room and told us that you guys were reading a book again. He asked if we were reading the Bible. He said that he also had a Bible. And he tossed one book on the bed saying this is his Bible. He told us that we should read his “Bible”. I was interested in the book. I stood up and took the book. It was not the Bible. It was a porn magazine. It was called Hustler Magazine which was one of the worst porn magazines. I glanced at it and noticed that Father looked at it also. “Jackass!” I was incensed and ready to take it back to him—letting him know I didn’t appreciate his taking us as fools. I was going to put down the book we were reading and walk over to him. Father grabbed hold of me, here (Mr. Kamiyama pointing at the bottom of his pants) and asked me, “Where are you going to go? Where? Sit down here.” I said to him, ‘Father, I will give this porn back to him…” “Let it go. Sit, sit down. Start reading again.” I resumed reading the word but my mind was where he was. I could not get anything out of the reading…

“Justin, that jackass! Don’t take us for a fool!” Even after this incident, True Father greeted him as if nothing had happened. “How are you?” I saw this, but my heart is still raging with anger. Several weeks after this incident, he came to our bedroom again while we were reading God’s word. He said to me, “Kami! I brought this letter.” And he asked me to read it. He told me that he saw an article criticizing Rev. Moon terribly in Hustler Magazine, and got really mad and wrote the letter to the editor. He left a copy of the letter for us to read.

I have a Japanese translation of his letter here. Let me read it for you.

I am both an avid reader of Hustler and an inmate at Danbury prison. I was rather amused by the article in your magazine on my fellow inmate Reverend Moon. It seems to me and also to a lot of my fellow inmates (I asked them) that if the article was meant to portray the Reverend in a bad light, it missed the mark by a mile.

Other than the rather thin claims of Miss Turner and the obvious effort at hysterical sleaze reporting by Jim Forrest, you show that Moon stands for everything that we in this country say we hope to convey to our children, namely, no premarital sex, no drugs, anti-communism, love of wife, and devotion to family. As for the millions of people in his church walking around hypnotized, I wonder why you could only come up with one who appears to be in that condition’?

Larry Flynt, of all people, should certainly know at this point about oppression and the infliction of certain men’s wills and laws on other “free’’ people.

Lastly, let me say this. I work side by side with the “Rev’’ in the kitchen and have seen him do all that has been asked of him, smiling and without complaint (I wish I could say the same of all the other inmates here), including washing toilets and mopping floors. He never puts on any airs and is just one of the guys. I have my visits on the same days as the Reverend and see him to be a devoted husband, and a loved and loving father. Maybe this country wouldn’t be in the sad shape it is in if we had more men like Reverend Moon around.

December 12, 1984 by Justin Ignizio Federal Correction Facility, Camp Danbury Prison

He wrote in this letter, “ If the article was meant to portray the Reverend in a bad light, it missed the mark by a mile. I work side by side with the “Rev’’ in the kitchen and have seen him do all that has been asked of him, smiling and without complaint, including washing toilets and mopping floors.” The prisoner testified to True Father. If I had been emotionally charged and harmed Justin as my enemy when he brought the porn

magazine as his bible, he would never have written this letter. I eye witnessed Father embracing his enemy who ridiculed and mocked him,,, with love.

Please think of Father’s life at Danbury

The toilet room that the prisoners used was always dirty and most disgusting. It was being used by 200 inmates. Most people who are imprisoned are self-centered. When they go to the toilet, they take care of number 1. In the beginning, the floor is still clean so they stand close to the urinal. As it is being used, the floor gets wet. The next group of people will stand far from the urinal. Then they would urinate from the distance. (Laughter) Next person would move back more and take care of business. I am sure you understand what I am talking about, right? Father would clean this mess. He continued to clean such dirty places. As I saw Father clean, my chest was filled with sorrow and grief. Justin witnessed how Father cleaned such areas, so he testified to Father.

Father was looking for jobs that other inmates hated to do. Then, he told me that he would do those jobs. For example, assigned inmates cooked to feed 200 inmates in the kitchen. They poured oil into a large frying pan and cooked spaghetti. They kept spilling the oil. After wiping off the oil with mops, the mops got greasy and oily. They were thrown into buckets. Someone must wash these mops and cloths. But no one wanted to touch them. Of course, a prison guard told them to wash them; they had no choice but to follow the order. However, no one volunteers to do this job. Father said to me that this would be his daily chore from that day on.

Then, he started to wash each one of the greasy cloths carefully with a very strong detergent and place them on top of each other, into what became a mountain of cloths. I could not bear watching Father do this. I begged Father, “I will wash them. Please stop washing them.” I tried to push away Father and to wash them. But Father would not budge, telling me, “THIS IS MY JOB!” Then, one of the inmates came in where Father had piled up the clean cloths, and he picked one and used it to clean his dirty boots. On top of this, he tossed the dirty cloth into the bucket that Father was using. As I saw his arrogant and rude behavior, I was indignant, “You, jackass!” Father stopped me in time as I was ready to jump on him. “Kamiyama, let it go.” This was his way of life there.

True Father worked at the prison kitchen

Pledge Service in the prison

Father always woke up at 3 o’clock every morning on the top bunk bed and prayed. The bed shook and made squeaky noises if you moved.

Father climbed up on the top bunk and lay down to sleep. As far as my memory goes, he never covered himself with the blanket. He always lay on top of the blanket. He woke up at 3AM and coiled his body like a shrimp on the bed and prayed.

On Sundays, we conducted the pledge service before God. We bowed and prayed. We never missed. The night before, we took a shower and changed to clean underwear and went to bed. At 5AM next morning, we had the pledge service. At the beginning, there was no place to conduct the service inside. There was one door that can be opened to go outside the building. We opened the door and used the concrete floor just outside; and father led the service. Of course, we did this in the dark. This was how we lived in the prison.

Later on, I went to the office and requested, “Rev. Moon is a religious leader and clergy and needs to pray on Sunday mornings. Please assign one room for this purpose.” We received permission to use a small room for this purpose. First, Father bowed to God and turned around. Then, I bowed looking at Father in front of me. My heart was moved and tears filled my eyes during the service. My father was a Christina pastor. My uncle was a pastor too. All of my relatives are Christians.

Therefore, I was familiar with how they prayed through my experiences. However, how Father prayed was so different from how they prayed. I felt a deep awe seeing him bow down deferentially as if God Himself is in front of him. Father prayed in Japanese for my benefit. “For the people in the world who are sending their prayers for Rev. Moon, please bless them as they pray,” Father prayed. As I saw Father during the prayer, my heart was filled with trepidation and enthused by an invisible force. One of the inmates watched Father carefully as he prayed. He later on told me that he thought Rev. Moon was a religious leader and he led prayer meetings. He came and asked me, “I want to pray with Rev. Moon at his prayer service. May I join in yours?” His name is Bill Shepard.

Bill Shepard shared his feeling about Father with me: “I had bad feelings about Rev. Moon because of the information that the media reported about him.” I learned from him that the prison officials were concerned that a large group of media personnel would come to this prison site on July 20 when Rev. Moon would enter the prison facilities. So, they wanted to erect a temporary “fence” with rope to control the media gathering at the prison. Bill Shepard was ordered to drive piles and put up rope. As he drove piles into the ground with a heavy hammer, he felt resentful and angry and wondered why he had to do this hard job. He shouted as he worked, “Moon, go to hell! Moon, go to hell!” I was really worried about including him in our prayer because he had such a background.

I asked Father about this. “Bill Shepard wants to pray together with us. What should I do?” Father replied, “That is good. Please bring him over.” He is very proud and Catholic. I had spoken with him using the Bible. Since I knew that he read the Bible always, I had explained why the world became evil after the fall of man, and how the restoration would be conducted using the Bible. He seemed to understand some of the Divine Principle. So from that he wanted to pray with Father.

I let Bill know that Father had agreed to have him join in. “Rev. Moon said it is okay. So, let’s go.” Bill was ecstatic. I warned him, saying, “Rev. Moon’s prayer protocol is different from Catholic liturgical prayer. So, you should follow how I do and greet God.” Then, I brought Bill to the Pledge Service. We stood behind Father. First, Father bowed and offered prayer. Then, he turned around and sat down on the chair facing both of us. I was wondering if Bill would follow me and bow in front of Father. As I bowed, I was keeping my eye on him who was bowing on my left. He was also looking at me. Looking at each other’s face, we bowed before Father. I can never forget that moment. That proud Catholic believer bowed to the ground in front of Father. It was inspiring and moving. I learned later that after I had left the prison, he continued to attend the Pledge Service with Father.

Let me introduce to you what Father talked about in Danbury Prison:

The environment of Danbury prison: Rev. Moon is the expert on prison life. I will know this person committed such and such a crime, as soon as I see him. I can see if the person is good or bad. Since the prison is like an exhibition that displays all social evils, I can meet all kinds of people from all social levels. The mental condition of the people in the world is such that as soon as they sit down they complain. Regardless whether two, three or ten people sit down, they complain to each other. All of it starts from “I am right and great.” They say they are innocent. Instead, the world is bad, judges are bad and prosecuting attorneys are bad. Next, they would complain against the country.

The rumors that Rev. Moon was the worst criminal in America were widespread a t the time Rev. Moon entered Danbury Prison. What kind of atmosphere was spread in the prison? Please think of it. A person whom I telephoned is Bill Shepard. His father was a general in the military. He was born as a son of a general in a family that went through a sorrowful family history. He is righteous and indignant. He conspired with several others. If Rev. Moon was actually evil, they would get rid of Rev. Moon within six months. He established such a club inside the prison. You can’t imagine what kind of environment it was.

As you see, when you go there, you must make a good plan. It is no comparison to the difficulty that you face when you go out for witnessing. In the prison, they are highly charged, and you never know what they are going to do. If they want to get a knife, they can get as many as they want.

Let me tell you a kind of incident that took place. Up until the last year, there was an exercise room with all kinds of exercise equipment. People used to exercise with iron dumbbells. While a man was exercising, it seemed a group of the inmates beat the person to death using the iron dumbbells. However, no one has been arrested for the murder even now.

All kinds of criminals ended up in the prison. Among them, there are members of the Mafia and other gangs. I met a person whose criminal record included 18 convictions. I asked why he committed 18 crimes, and he answered that my life outside of prison is inferior to life in prison, where I can rest and have 3 meals a day. I leave here and come back again, like I would go to my vacation destination. I lived with such people shoulder to shoulder.

“I don’t care if he’s turned ‘em all into Moonies! Just get him out of here before he calls a mass wedding.” 22

When we entered the prison, inmates called to Father, “Hey Moon!” As time passed, they observed how Father conducted himself, and changed their view of Father. By the time I would leave the prison after serving 4 months and 17 days, they were calling Father, “Father Moon.” They were expressing their utmost respect by calling him, “Father Moon.”

After 1 month since we entered the prison, it was elevated from “Hey, Moon” to “Mr. Moon” with an honorific expression. And after 2 to 3 months, inmates started calling him, “Rev. Moon.” The honorific expression is elevated. Then, after 4 months passed, all of them called Father, “Father Moon.” I saw with my own eyes how Father gained natural surrender from people of the satanic world and obtained his birthright as elder son.

I saw that Father had completely changed his environment starting from the position of servant of servants within several months. Father explained to me, “If this secular world is considered as Hell, the prison must be the Hell of all Hells! Therefore, we must climb up this realm of planes—vertical 8 step restoration process—starting from the position of servant of servants.”

Mysterious happening in the Prison

I later learned that Senator Orrin Hatch had promised that Father would be released after 40 days of imprisonment. But, this promise was not kept. I also heard if several key people had united with True Mother completely, such a miracle would have taken place. However, the fact was that Senator Hatch could not release Father from the prison. Father told me, “After 40 days, mysterious things would happen.” I was wondering, “What?” “What would take place?”

On the 40 th day from the day when Father entered Danbury, the prison had an open house which allowed visitors from the public to look around the facilities. This was never done in the history of Danbury prison. Father explained, “The prison is the Hell of all Hells. Now, the general population can come in to visit the prison.” This means that we are elevated from the Hell of all hells and servant of servants to the position of servant where God can relate. It was on the 40 th day.

For the first 40 days since Father entered the prison, there were a lot of strange activities like cleaning the grounds that were ignored for a long time. This was culminated in the above event. I believe that God has been preparing for that day through the spirit world. However, since the earthly people could not set a proper condition, Father was not released on the 40 th day. Instead, on that day, the general public came to the prison in droves. A lot of people stopped by and looked into Father’s bedroom. Also, cameras were allowed inside the prison, and we were able to get memorable photos. God must have wanted to leave the eternal record of Father’s suffering for history. This was a very mysterious event.

Dirty and stained underwear and shoes

I brought back these stained underpants with me, thinking that this pair must be historical memorabilia that we would never forget. I thought, “I must show this to many people as a testimony some day.” I took them as evidential materials.

I still keep this pair of shoes with me. This is the first pair of shoes that Father wore in prison.

This pair is miserable, a miserable looking pair of shoes. Later on, we were allowed to use $70 for necessities.

Father purchased one pair of shoes. This picture below is that pair.

Father wore this new pair of shoes to go to the meeting room when he met visiting guests or Mother. Father only wore this pair to see Mother. In July and August, it was extremely hot, so the old pair of shoes absorbed sweat and smelled. Father only replied, “It is fine. It’s fine.” I struggled to understand why he was so insistent to say, “It is fine.” I thought to myself that Father should be more honest and allow me to take care of him.

On December 4 th when I was released from the prison, I finally understood why he refused to let me wash the old pair. “Kamiyama, Rev. Moon wants to give you something. I have been preserving this.” What?? Does he have something that he wants to give me in the prison? “Rev. Moon wanted to give you this pair of shoes. I preserved it.” (Rev. Kamiyama showed the picture of the pair.) “Please wear this pair. Please leave the prison wearing this pair of shoes.” Father, I am not worthy. Once I leave this prison, I will have a lot of pairs. Please keep it for yourself. “Don’t worry. Just wear this pair of shoes and leave this place.”

Since Father was very insistent, I relented. “Leave this place wearing this pair. Rev. Moon wrote the content of a letter of instruction to give to members today. Walk out of this place wearing this pair of shoes and bring the letter with you.” I tried to put the shoes on. Father was watching me and told me, “Kamiyama, don’t you know how to tie a shoe lace?” No way, I don’t know how. Of course, I know. It is not worth mentioning how to tie shoe laces… Father tries to bend down before my feet and to tie my shoes, saying, “This is how to tie.” Please don’t. (Laughter) Father is determined to tie my shoes. I tried to escape from him. I was backing off. Why? I understood what was said 2,000 years ago.

2,000 years ago, Jesus said about John the Baptist, “Among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist.” (Matthew 11: 11). When John the Baptist testified to Jesus, it is said, “He is the one who comes after me, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.” (John 1: 27) He testified to Jesus by saying, “the straps of Jesus’ ‘shoes’ I am not worthy to untie.” I too felt that I was not worthy to untie the straps of Father’s shoes. I knew well that I had no such qualification. He is the Lord of the Second Coming! Now, he was trying to tie my shoes.

I kept backing off to escape. Father’s large body was chasing me as I tried to get away. “Today, I wrote my autograph inside the shoes.” “I also wrote ‘to Kamiyama’.” How can I step on the signature of the precious Father? I definitely can’t! “Please don’t!” “You must wear it and go.”

In the end, Father tied my shoes. My way of tying shoe lace is pulling to the side. Father’s method is definitely different. His method is to pull in the length of shoe. Vertical. (Showing the picture) I am horizontal. (Laughter) This pair of shoes that Father gave me is the most precious treasure. I cannot untie

the straps of this pair even now. I will keep it as it is. And I will keep it very carefully. After Father’s Seunghwa, someone demanded to send this pair to keep in such a place. No! Never! (Laughter) I hid it and never sent it. I have all of these now. I am keeping the pair of underpants that Father used safely. These artifacts should belong to a person who understands and appreciates their true value.

Later in Autumn it became chilly weather

One cold morning, after preparing for breakfast, while we waited for the inmates to arrive at the dining hall, Father and I went outside for a few minutes. The prison building and dining hall were located on the mound of a small hill. Tens of sparrows came flying toward the building. Father saw them and said to me, “It is hard work for the sparrows to find food in this cold weather. It only gets colder; they will be desperate to find their food. It is very tough, isn’t it?” I remember that we had this conversation about the sparrows. Father was concerned even for a little sparrow.

Father was always concerned about the major issues facing the world, but he also pays attention to and is concerned about a little sparrow trying to find food in the cold of winter. As I saw him even thinking about a tiny sparrow, I realized his care for even the little things. I will never forget that day when I realized this aspect. I learned the world of Father’s heart toward all creatures.

I cannot forget many memories as we experienced various incidents in the prison. In front of the prison, there is a hill with a lawn. Sometimes, Father sat there and looked to the far distant views; then closed his eyes, and shook his body left and right, and looked at distant views and closed his eyes. He seemed to be meditating. I was sitting next to him. “Kamiyama, look at that. That tree is dancing.” “Well, what is it? That tree is swinging back and forth blown by the wind, isn’t it?” I could not see it any other way.

However, Father clearly saw the scene of a tree swinging with the wind as the tree dancing. I thought to myself, “Is this the relationship between nature and Father?” I could only see the tree swinging with the wind… I felt how deeply connected Father is to nature—something is so profound that we could not imagine.

Miserable event in the Prison

One inmate committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope on a branch of a cedar tree inside the prison. As Father was told that the inmate hanged himself from the tree, he gazed at the distance repeatedly opening and closing his eyes. Then he told me who was sitting next to him:

“Kamiyama, would it be good if someone cut the branch off the tree?” “Father, why is it?” “Well, he is still there. He is there.” “No, Father, he was brought down from the tree and is no longer there.” “No, he is there. You may not see, but he is still hanging from the branch. So, it would be good to cut the branch off of the tree. The tree is miserable.”

I saw Father who was compassionate to the tree. At the same time, he was compassionate to the man. “If Rev. Moon knew more about him a few days earlier, I could have helped him anyway.” Father was thinking about him. I asked him at the moment, “Will the situation of hanging from the tree continue eternally? What will happen to him?”

“Although the vast limitless world (The spirit world) will be our future theater where we will be moving freely, he will be stuck at that place. How miserable he is.”

Suicide is a typical manifestation of self-centeredness. You cut short the life that was given by God by your own hands. This life on earth with the physical body is a preparation period to enter life in the spirit world… The vast limitless world (The spirit world) is the theater where spirits of the people who lived for the sake of others on earth can move freely. Father said, thus the spirit world has nothing to do with the people who lived on earth selfishly. Accordingly, like the suicide man, the spirit is kept at the same place…

“How shall I help him?” I asked to Father. Then, Father explained to me, “If he can pull someone else where he is in order to replace him; then his range of activity may expand a little. However, its range is still limited. The vast limitless world exists for our unlimited active theater… his life is miserable.” I cannot forget his words.

I saw Father concerned about each and every one of the 200 inmates in the prison. I had to reflect on my life and repented, telling myself, “Oh, how have I cared for people while I witnessed? Did I really concern and worry about them?”

True Father is a heartwarmingly loving father

Some people accuse Rev. Moon of being arrogant and adorned with authority. On the other hand, the Father that I observed in the prison is a warm-hearted and loving father. Of course, he reprimanded for wrong doings. However, once I recognized my own wrong doings, Father was quick to forgive and embrace me with love. I like Father very much. Father represents the Adam nation. As a representative of the Eve nation, Japan, I received tremendous love from the True Parents. I witnessed how Father conducted himself in Danbury prison—practice Absolute Faith, Absolute Love, and Absolute Obedience before God and set the absolute standard to follow. Since Father lives such a way before God, we should follow Father with Absolute Faith, Absolute Love, and Absolute Obedience. By so doing, the ideal of love and the unity of God and man, this ideal in the future will be achieved; then the realm of liberation and release of God’s Kingdom on earth, and God’s Kingdom in Heaven will be born. I strongly believe that if we, all members, unite together before True Father’s major plan, and practice Absolute Faith, Absolute Love, and Absolute Obedience, then we will overcome any difficulties.

Some people say this: President Kamiyama has sided with Hyun Jin Nim and is betraying True Mother. Do you think I am capable of betraying the True Parents? Do I try to create a breakaway faction that is apart from Father’s thought and tradition? No, I will never be able to do that.

Right now, the Church organization and Cheongpyeong offer members a “Prayer Wish Paper”— recommending that we should pray to God in order to relieve personal worries, difficulties, pains, and crosses. Is this Father’s philosophy? Unless we inherit Father’s thought and tradition, the ideal world will not be established. What happened to Father’s thought and philosophy?

Let me read excerpts from Father’s words:

Rev. Moon desires to leave behind the world that would resurrect, not the world that is destined to ruin. In order that I would fulfill the purpose of this movement while I am on earth, I am determined to receive every difficulty and hardship—sufferings, headaches, pains, criticism like hurricanes, persecutions and so on. I pray constantly to God, “Let me carry all heavy burdens on my shoulder.”

God’s Preparation for Our Church, and Its Early Days May 1, 1977

Throughout my life, while facing spiritual battles, I prayed as follows: “God! I know humanity has been 27

committing all sorts of crimes against You throughout the 6,000 years of God’s restoration history. Please let me shoulder the 6,000 year history combined into the next six days! I also prayed, “Let Satan hit me instead of the 3.2 billion people on earth as well as all the ancestors who are in the spirit world. Have all machine guns shoot me instead! Let him hit me. I don’t care if I become crippled. Keep me just alive to continue Your work. I don’t care about my future, let him beat me instead!” I used to pray such prayers. I had no other way but do this to establish conditions to save humanity. This never changes even now.

Jesus who Stands at the Center of Cosmos October 3, 1965

One brother asked Father. “Please teach me about prayer?” The following was how he answered…

Regarding how to pray, when you pray, do not put yourself first. You should not pray from the get go, “Please fulfill my wish!” Ask to save the world first. Pray that God’s desire for the world be fulfilled. You pray, “Please help me to obey any of God’s orders and give me an attitude to fulfill my responsibilities.” Not only in your prayer, but practicing it in reality with the same attitude; then, you will stand to become a world leader. Therefore, you don’t need to pray, “I want to be blessed, and please fulfill my wish.”

Now we are supposed to write down your wishes centered on yourself and pray for them? Isn’t this practice really far from Father’s thought and philosophy?

God is the Harmonious Subject Partner of the Duel Characteristics

What is the motive to change our well established tradition, to call God Heavenly Father, to Heavenly Pumonim (Parents) when you pray, right after True Father’s Seonghwa Ceremony? True Father throughout his life had prayed calling “Heavenly Father” in tears. We should have kept this tradition, shouldn’t we? Why did we need to change this tradition? Then, what was the motive to change this? What is the reason? Please think about this!

Let me introduce Father’s words regarding God

According to the Principle, God exists as the Invisible Absolute Subject partner and the Harmonious being of the duel characteristics. God, who is the harmonious being of the duel characteristics, created Adam and Eve as His divided substantial beings. As they mature and unite horizontally centered on love, God will be the vertical center of them. What does this mean? When Adam and Eve mature and perfect themselves, God’s masculinity will be inside of Adam’s mind and His femininity will manifest in Eve’s mind. However, this does not mean that God will be divided into two. Since God exists as the harmonious subject partner of the duel characteristics, He can be omnipresent in both Adam’s and Eve’s minds

Doesn’t God have dual characteristics? What would He be like, who is the Subject with dual characteristics as discussed in the Principle? He is a God with dual characteristics, and at the same time, the Subject with harmonized dual characteristics. What would be the essence of that Subject? It is love, absolute love.

The substantial realm of the dual characteristics is intended to become God’s partner and return to Him through true love. It is the origin-division-union action. The internal nature and external form, which were originally one, come together again substantially through the blessing of Adam and Eve. At this place where everything unites, God comes there to unite with man and woman, who are united. I’ve spoken these great words. Where is the origin of love of the universe? It is God. The question here is how to put in logical order the 28

idea of where God’s love will settle. For God to become the harmonious being whose dual characteristics are separately represented in the form of Adam and Eve, created by Him, what should the harmonious being center upon? He should center on love and be in the masculine position of the Subject in relation to all.

Excerpts from The point of settlement of love where God and humankind meet Book 11: The Root of the Universe (Cheon Seong Gyeong)

When you enter the deep and mysterious realm and pray, you ask although a man is the center of the creation, what is the center of the universe? You will receive the answer is the father-son (parent-child) relationship. What is the center of the universe? In one conclusive word, that is the father-son relationship.

Ordinary people naturally think it is about their father and mother who gave them their birth. So, generally speaking, the father-son relationship is understood as the relationship based upon the societal moral principles. However, this is not right. When we look at it from three-dimensional view, the position where God and man becomes one centering on the heart of the father-son relationship is the center of the universe. This is the conclusion.

The Root of the Universe is the Relationship of Father and Son Raising Children in God’s Will

Considering the above excerpts of father’s words, It is more natural to call God, Heavenly Father to better reflect the close personal feeling, than God. Thus, I am bothered by a feeling of strangeness by the current organization that makes us call God as Heavenly Father and Mother (Pumonim). The literal translation of this Korean word to Japanese is “Both Parents.” If this Korean word is translated literally to English, it should be translated as “Parents.” Although God is the Subject in whom the dual characteristics are in harmony, by calling this way, we are dividing God into two beings—Father and Mother. Do you think this practice reflect the philosophy that Father has been insisting?

Let me summarize Fathers’ fundamental thought on God:

 God is the Subject in whom the dual characteristics are in harmony; therefore, there are no separate identities as Father and Mother.

 It is the origin-division-union action. God is the “origin” and one. Because God is the Subject in whom the dual characteristics are in harmony, He is the “origin.”

 The relationship between God and man is the relationship of Father and Son (literal translation; usually translation now is Parent and Child). God is the Harmonious Being centered on love. He is recognized as the masculine subject partner towards humanity.

 In the Exposition of the Divine Principle, it is written: “God is the Subject in whom the dual characteristics of original internal nature and original external form are in harmony. At the same time, God is the harmonious union of masculinity and femininity, which manifests the qualities of original internal nature and original external form, respectively. In relation to the universe, God is the subject partner having the qualities of internal nature and masculinity.”

These are some excerpts of what Father said about God. Therefore, considering Father’s word, it is most natural to pray to and call God, “Father.”

After receiving the Blessing, a husband and wife will become one centered on true love. When the husband and wife becomes part of each other completely, together they will resemble God who is the harmonious

being of the dual characteristics; therefore, God will for the first time reside in the hearts of the husband and wife. This is the Absolute “Sex” that we think about while living in our life of faith. Once we reach this state of union, we will be given, “Right of Inheritance,” “Right of Equal Participation,” “Right of Equal Position,” and “Right of Equal Residence” by God, from where great powers will be born. Unlimited powers will continue on in them. Why? They are directly linked with the Heart of God. This is what Father has taught us.

How precious, that we are be able to call God who is the subject partner having the qualities of internal nature and masculinity, Our Father, Heavenly Father! How wonderful! Don’t you agree with this?

I will read an excerpt of father’s words:

Satan is very wise and his ways are deceptive. Because he’s smart, he can manipulate God’s methods to put himself at the center. There are many people who manipulate situations centering upon their own desire. That kind of person does the worst damage within a religion. Such a person will speak about the purpose of the nation or God, yet he will disregard that and do things for his own benefit. The starting point of all the church’s activity is Rev. Moon. Yet, such a leader wants to take them for his own sake.

Anyone who collects someone else’s money for the public purpose and uses that money unscrupulously for himself is a thief. The same applies to anyone who claims public things as his own belongings without getting permission. That kind of person will be destroyed from within. Please understand clearly that restoration is accomplished through indemnity and that this is the road to perfection.

Total Indemnity, God’s Will and the World

Do you think is it possible that I could betray True Father?

Because Japan was loved as the Eve nation, I received abundant love from True Father. I will never forget that he loved me as if I were his son of his own blood. Father has guided me with training and instructions.

At the same time, father pushed me to the limit by asking impossible and complicated tasks; therefore, I was pressed in a place where the only way out is to deny my existence completely. Once I reached the realization that he had to give me the impossible and complicated tasks to divide Satan who lives inside of my heart and to help me win the battle against him, only then, did these pains turn into an indescribable and profound gratitude to him. I always feel True Father’s deep love to my bones. How can I betray him?

I have a lot of photos that testify to the love I received from True Parents. I will show you some of them. I will never return their favor with vengeance!

I view True Father as an absolute. I will never betray True Parents. My loyalty toward True Parents has never changed.

One member who has been in America told me this: The movement has turned to a new regime. Don’t you know it has turned to True Mother’s age since True Father went to the spirit world? Why are you still holding on to the old sovereignty so desperately? How long are you repeating True Father’s word and his style? How long will you keep singing Tang Shim Ga?

(Tang Shim Ga is a song that loyal subjects sang for the former King of Goryeo, when their country, Goryeo perished and was overtaken by the Joseon Dynasty. They pledged to be loyal and attend the King whose dynasty had already perished.)

I strongly disagreed and argued with the person. What are you are thinking? True Parents are one. Even after True Father went to the spirit world, the Father is the subject and the Mother is the object. The object being will not and cannot take over the position of the subject. Isn’t it that the principle that the subject and object—the husband and wife (husband is subject and wife is object)—must appear before God as one united being?

This is what I believe: the True Father proceeds ahead of the True Mother; because the True Father exists, the True Mother can come into being; and True Parents will give the meaning to our existence. Am I wrong in thinking in this manner? Is this my crime—betraying the True Parents?

Let me introduce Father’s words regarding this point:

 “True Parents of Heaven and Earth and Humankind” means one body not two separated Father and Mother.  Father and Mother are not separate beings but as one. If two pursue two different objectives, both of the two will perish.  She must not boast about **** (mother’s birth place) nor about the Han family name (mother’s surname)! If she shows too much pride on these areas, she may not become the Mother.  “True Parents of Heaven and Earth and Humankind” must appear before heaven and earth as one body.

The Precious Words that True Father has spoken

I have placed absolute value on the words that True Father has spoken; therefore, I have been sending the words that I found through prayer to a great number of people. I began sending them on November 25, 2008 until now (September 17, 2014)—for 4 years and 11 months. Thus far, I have sent 1,751 selected excerpts of the words. As I mentioned before, True Father personally selected speeches out of a large volume of his speeches in Danbury Prison; and the speeches were compiled into a volume entitled “God’s Will and the World.”

Father instructed me to educate members with this book as all necessary words were contained in this volume. Since the church leadership neglected to educate members with his words, a lot of difficult problems were occurring, rampantly. “You must place absolute value on the words.” I will never be able to forget that. I believe that we must seek the solutions to our problems in the words which are compiled in the eight study materials and text books. I am convicted that all of our problems can be resolved when we apply True Father’s words in our life as we place the highest value on them.

How could we change the words that the Father left as his legacy? How could the church do this? In this secular world, children revere and keep as precious their parents’ last words, don’t they? But, our organization changed Father’s last words—changing from “Pyeonghwa Shingyeong” to “Pyeonghwa Gyeong.” “Cheon Seong Gyeong” that father loved so much was also changed from the black cover to the red cover book (the new version of CSG is not available in English) and will be changed to “Cheon Pumo Gyeong.” These were not just superficial changes that they may seem to be. We should have been following True Father, The Second Advent of Christ, with Absolute Faith, Absolute Love, and Absolute Obedience…

From my point of view, the current church organization manipulated and changed the contents of both Cheon Seong Gyeong and Pyeonghwa Shingyeong that Father loved and cherished. By this exploit— demonstrated by their conduct—the church is not acting in accord with Father’s philosophy and thought; thus, the church is rather pursuing its own factional interests. What do you think?

I saw and heard so many things that frustrated Father’s heart during the two years when I lived in Yeosu. I still vividly recall Father being bitterly disappointed.

Where can I sit down? Where can I stand around here? Where is peaceful holy generation? More important than anything, here is a man who suffered and struggled more than anyone. His name is “Yong Myung Moon.”

My Final Words I Give to Humanity: True Parents have already prepared the last words I will give to humankind. These have been prepared based on my triumphs over six life -or-death situations, including six periods of unjust imprisonment. I am leaving behind eight textbooks and teaching mate rials for humankind to use for all eternity. Altogether, these are published in almost a thousand volumes. They are The Sermons of the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, Exposition of the Divine Principle, Cheon Seong Gyeong, Pyeong Hwa Shin Gyeong, The Family Pledge, True Families—Gateway to Heaven, Owner of Peace and Owner of Lineage and World Scripture. Who is the number one champion that is most committed to Hoon Dok Hwe? Who works hardest to conduct Hoon Dok Hwe? Is it God? Or True Father? (“True Father”) True Mother does not like it. (Laughter) So, I am the only one. Therefore, you should never inherit True Mother’s tradition. You must absolutely inherit True Father’s tradition. Who are sons and daughters? They are sons and daughters of True Father. Not sons and daughters of True Mother, right? True Mother is a custodian. She is the mistress who nurtures and educates them.

You must not believe any teaching other than Rev. Moon’s words. I detest adding your own words into my teaching. The Principle should be kept as it is. How can anyone manipulate and change the content of the books that God and I gave blessing and approved? When you read “Pyeonghwa Shingyeong,” you cannot read for your own selfish interest. You should view it as absolute. You must consider it more absolute than I. These text books contain the content that will be loved and revered by your descendants of tens and thousands future generations.

Moon as text books and teaching materials centered on God. These do not belong solely to Rev. Moon. You must live according to what is taught in the books. By so doing, your destination—the future heavenly Kingdom where you live—will be prepared. Eight text books and teaching material are connected with the entire content of heaven and earth. So you must love the teaching materials that Rev. Moon has prepared.

When Rev. Moon thinks about what I should leave behind when I will pass to the spirit world, I believe that “Reverend Moon’s Selected Speeches” is the best gift. These are the items that you cannot buy or sell under heaven and earth. This gift will connect True Parents with true children through blood lineage.

“Eight teaching materials and Text books wherein Heavenly Fortune and the Holy Spirit dwell.”(Published in Japan) Its first publication was issued on January 23, 2012. This is the fourth edition published on September 10, 2012.

If I said “shit” then write it down “shit.” “Knuckle,” then write it down knuckle. (596-57, August 17, 2008 Cheon Jeong Peace Palace) Above excerpts summarize what Father told us.

The “Original” eight text books and teaching materials must never be changed and manipulated for convenience or self interests’ sake. This should never be allowed. These are the true last words of True Father for the future generations.

Do not touch the content of “Cheon Seong Gyeong.” You may explain their historical background and contents by creating additional editions. You are not allowed to change its content itself.

I was dumbfounded and astonished

I participated at the Japanese leadership Hoon Dok Hwe in Las Vegas several years ago. There were about 70 to 80 people gathered. True Father asked Rev. .., “How much money do you have now? I want to give some to all gathered here.” Then, Rev. …. responded, saying, “I have no money.” He pulled out his wallet from his jacket pocket, showing inside his wallet to Father. I was shocked and stunned to witness his casual and somewhat mocking acts. How in the world, does he act in such a way in front of the Lord of the Second Coming…?

True Mother was sitting next to Father at the time. Then I heard Father saying, “Where are you trying to go? You must stay here with me.” Mother replied, “I will go to the restroom.” “You must stay here! You can take care of your needs here (you should piss and shit right here.), said the Father while raising his voice. Paying no attention to Father, Mother left the room ignoring Father! I was really astonished. Father asked some leader, “Please bring Mother here right away.” The leader went to bring Mother back. However, Mother refused to come back so the leader could not come to Father empty-handed. So, the second person left the room to bring back Mother. Then, the third person left to do the same. However, no one came back to the room where Father was waiting. All of sudden, I heard Father asking me with a very loud voice, “Kamiyama!! Who is right? Father or Mother? Who is right?”

I did not want to answer his question. Since I did not want to give a clear answer, I just said, “It is right.” Then, Father asked me with a very strong and demanding voice, “Whose position, are you saying is right? Which one?” I felt I had no other choice, so I answered honestly, “I am speaking from Father’s position.” Father became very quiet and closed his eyes and bent his head down as if he was in a deep prayer. During this moment—since the atmosphere became extremely uncomfortable—many members left after bowing to Father. Father looked very lonely, while waiting for Mother.

After Mother ignored Father and left the meeting, Father sent three staff people to bring her back; yet, Mother would not follow Father’s plea. I was dumbfounded and shocked. The True Father is the most precious person to both God and humanity as he stands in the position of the Second Advent of the Messiah. I learned through years of study that the mission of both the Old and New Testament ages was to prepare the worldwide spiritual atmosphere to unite, follow and link to one man who stands in the realm of the absolute subject with the love of God; and Humanity exists solely for the Messiah without concern for their own existence. With this understanding of the Messiah, I was totally flabbergasted.

God’s Will is that we should perfect the ideal family that is linked to God’s Lineage through establishing Absolute Faith, Absolute Love, and Absolute Obedience to the Messiah who stands in the realm of the Absolute Subject. Then, the family will expand its scope to clan, people, nation, the world, and the universe; thus we will establish the ideal world which God has dreamed. This is my belief. So witnessing this incident of Mother’s refusal to unite with Father was beyond my comprehension. This Mother was totally different that day than the one I thought I knew in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. I was really astounded by the change in Mother.

Let me share a few more excepts of Father’s words:

Who was the enemy of Jesus who came to save all people on earth? They are the people who only saw him as having relative value not as a person with absolute value. Because of this situation, Jesus toiled and suffered to find one person who could relate with his real nature and to be considered as one in heart, “I amin you and you in me” among them. If such a person had appeared before Jesus, even though he had to go the way of the cross, his love and ideal would have been established on earth. It is, therefore, Jesus’ hardship and bitter pain that he could not find that one person. You must know this clearly.

Regarding Mother’s faith toward Father:

True Mother must follow Father’s guidance unconditionally. She must believe in me unconditionally. Mother must obey and surrender to her husband no matter what he does, as a woman. Even if she reached her limit that she no longer can obey, she must go beyond the limit and establish a foundation of obedience and total surrender.

If mother said, “I don’t want to go,” it would be a major problem. “It’s ok for man to go to such a place. But a woman is weaker, I cannot go there.” If she complains like women in this secular world, that will be a great problem. She must go forward toward the realm of death, with her eyes closed shut.

The Absolute Value of True Parents and the Path of Tribal Messiah

I became 72 years old. In other words, it is nearing the day when I will go to the spirit world. I was told by my doctor that I am totally recovered and cancer-free from my surgery to remove the bile duct cancer. However, I experienced five surgeries on my abdomen in the past; so I hear that I have a higher risk of recurring cancer. I believe that it is a miracle that I am alive. I often ask myself why God is letting me live today. If I go to the spirit world, I feel that Father would tell me, “Despite the fact that I helped you live, why do you come to the spirit world without accomplishing your mission on earth! You never expressed clearly what was right.” Father would scold me …

“Rev. Moon let you stay near me in order to educate you by seeing, hearing, and touching directly what was happening around me. Then, why did you not speak out for what was right or point out what was wrong?” Sometimes, when I close my eyes, I converse with Father in my mind. My conversation goes like this: “Kamiyama! Do you still remember that I shared the secret that I had never spoken to anyone in Danbury Prison? Of course, you remember that, don’t you?” asks Father. I reply, “Yes, Father. I do remember it.”

At that time in Danbury, I asked Father if he would allow me to share the secret with other people. Would it be ok to share with True Children? Father’s answer was that not now and I should wait for the proper time, which would come in due time. As for his children, Father will explain and tell them when they grow up and reach the age that they would comprehend it.

I cannot forget the incident. So, I ask Father who is in the spirit world, “Did you share the content with True Children? At that time, you said I should wait. But is it the time now when I can freely speak about it to people?”

I have been telling myself this: “Live loyal to my conscience!” “Never do anything that my conscience regrets!” What I mean is my conscience is the one that is calibrated by the words of truth that True Father taught me. This conscience speaks to me, as if Father is speaking to me. “Do not be afraid! Remember Jonas of Nineveh—shout!” I want to follow the voice of my conscience. Is it wrong to follow my conscience? Is it betrayal if I want to live true to Father’s word?

However evil a person may be, the force of his conscience, which impels him toward a virtuous life, is always active within his inner self. This is true for all people of all ages and places. No one can quell the force of conscience, which is powerfully at work even without one’s conscious awareness. The minute a person commits an evil act, he immediately feels pangs of conscience. If the function of the conscience were absent in fallen people, God’s providence of restoration would be impossible. How is this force of conscience generated? Since all forces are produced by give and take action, the conscience cannot generate the force needed for its operation all by itself. That is to say, the conscience can operate only when it forms

a common base with some subject partner and engages in give and take action with it. The ultimate subject partner of our conscience is God.

After attending the Hoon Dok Hwe at the leader’s conference in Las Vegas, I returned to Yoesu, Korea, and focused my energy teaching at the Oceanic Leadership Workshop. However, as soon as Father’s Seonghwa was over, the Oceanic Leadership Workshop was closed down.

How much Father loved Yeosu! The Father whom I observed in Yoesu was desperately setting up indemnity conditions in order to overcome some spiritual barrier. It is burned in my memory that Father was demonstrating to Satan the indemnity conditions obtained there. What is the indemnity condition? Why is it needed? I am sure that you know the answers.

As I reflect how much Father’s realm of heart—the bitter pains and his tradition were— intertwined with Yoesu, I always think how I should revive the Oceanic Leadership Workshop and the providential work in Yoesu that father had desired. My heart is filled and cannot be separated with the loneliness that comes from losing my “homeland.” Up until now, my direct Abel has been Father for a long time. He was the True Parents as well as my direct Abel. I lost my boss who gives me direction and whom I give my report. I was like a kite whose string was cut off, when Father went to the spirit world.

My health turned from bad to worse suddenly

Soon after, I went to Japan seeking a solution for the court battles taking place in Korea, Japan and America. It was December 14, 2012. However, suddenly I became ill and needed to be hospitalized. I was admitted to Ishin Hospital. The hospital doctors conducted an emergency surgery to remove the gallbladder. I was told by the doctor that he found cancer in the bile duct. However, this type of surgery would be too difficult to perform at Ishin Hospital. I was moved to Komagome hospital for the surgery. The doctor at the Komagome hospital told me until they operate and see it, they cannot tell the condition of the cancer. If it turns out to be too difficult (or too late) to operate, they would instead close the opening. So, if you come back from the surgery room within 1to 2 hours, you should accept your fate. The surgery was performed on January 17, 2013. After an extended operation of 8 hours, the surgery was a success. (Applause) After the surgery, I was moved to an intensive care unit for overnight observation. Next day, I was moved back to the room and bed where I had stayed before the surgery. However, something was grossly wrong with me. My body wasn’t right… I had a hard time breathing. Then, I could hardly breathe at all. I felt my lungs were collapsing.

Right after True Father passed away (Seonghwa), I sort of wished to go near where he was. I emphasized 38

how painful and hard it was for Father, fighting his illness. I prayed or thought about that I wished to know even a tiny bit of Father’s suffering and pains. So, I was thinking that finally my wish came true. I started experiencing indescribable pains. I was hardly able to breathe. Just before that, the nurse said I was probably experiencing the after-effect of anesthetization. Usually, mucus gets stuck in the throat which makes breathing difficult. So if I spit out the mucus then I can easily breathe again. So I tried to follow her instruction but nothing was coming out. I was in severe pain and no longer able to breathe. I could not speak. I was losing my consciousness. I was thinking that my life was ending. I was wondering if Father’s suffering and pains were a hundred times more than what I was experiencing. I reached in my heart to offer prayers of gratitude, for I finally knew a bit of Father’s suffering. I think the nurse reported my condition—the appearance of my suffering—to the doctor. The doctors immediately gathered around me.

Emergency! As they started examining my body…. they found that the intravenous fluid was going into my lungs! The doctors were calling for help loudly. My lungs were filled with fluid, so that I could not breathe. The doctors gathered and one of them said to puncture a hole into my lung. Without using any anesthesia, he opened a hole in my lung. They pumped about one gallon of fluid out of my lungs. The fluid was dropping on the floor. Imagine, one gallon of the fluid pouring on the floor under my bed. However, I was calmly enduring this ordeal. I was just thinking of Father and his suffering. I was imagining him enduring his pain and suffering. I was reminded that his suffering was also related to his lungs—breathing. I realized that I was able to know a bit of Father’s suffering.

Thank you Heavenly Father! Thank you. To my doctors, thank you. The doctor of the hospital said to me, “We are sorry, this happened because of our mistake.” No problem. Don’t worry, anyhow, thank you very much. (Laughter) It’s fine. Don’t worry. I asked people who were staying with me to thank the doctors. Don’t accuse their mistake. Since I insisted on so much, people who were helping at the hospital started to bow to the doctors. The doctors were happily surprised. I am grateful to be able to taste a bit of Father’s suffering. .. When I finally regained my consciousness completely from this ordeal, my doctor explained to me , if the treatment was done even one hour later, I would have died.

I returned to my home in America on March 17 th, 2013. I barely endured the air travel back to the US. I finally made it back to America where my family was eagerly waiting. From then, it has been one year and six months. I am standing before you now.

I have been going through my rehabilitation for one year and six months here in America. During this period, I have studied True Father’s words. I selected what moved and resonated with my heart when I read and studied the words. I dedicated my time in emailing and face booking these excerpts of the words to about 3,800 people every day. It is often said, after removing cancer with surgery, cancers would come back. But, so far I am cancer free. The cancer disappeared completely. I feel that I am regaining my health every passing day.

I believe that one year and six months is the period in which God told me to keep my mouth shut and wait for action. For that period, I have been sending Father’s word to so many people. I now feel the urge that I must speak out and act according to my conviction. (Applause) I will keep on speaking! And put my conviction into action.

Why am I doing this? I am determined to resolve Father’s sorrow and chagrin. Otherwise, my original mind will never forgive me. Father was lamenting whenever he visited Yeosu. He said he wanted to start over from scratch. I need to resolve his lamentation. Otherwise I have no excuse. So, I will keep speaking what I am convicted.

Why True Father was Ascended (Seonghwa)?

Who is the Messiah? How do you feel about Father’s Seonghwa? Do you feel happy? The spirit world is the

joyful world. So, entering the spirit world should be joyful event, right? However, I don’t feel that Father’s ascension to the spirit world (Seonghwa) was a joyful event. My original mind does not feel joy. Why? Why did Father seonghwa (pass away) before the Foundation Day? Do you know how eagerly Father was waiting for the Foundation Day? D-day. D-day. Like the day of the Normandy Landings?

To be our D-day, Father was eagerly waiting for the Foundation Day. However, Father had to pass away a mere few months before the Foundation Day. Just as Moses could not enter into Canaan leading the 600,000 Israelites, yet passed away while gazing at the land of Canaan. Father gazing at the Foundation Day—the beginning of God’s Kingdom, he could not welcome that day while living on earth. He went to the spirit world waiting and anticipating the day.

Some members say it this way: Father has accomplished all his missions. He accomplished all. If Father had accomplished all, what exactly has he accomplished? What did he accomplish? Where is the True Family? Where is the true nation? Can you imagine how seriously Father was pursuing a nation? How serious was he to set a true family? Where are they? I honestly ask these questions. Some people tell me, “True Family exists.” Where is it? Where? No. There is no true family! Father taught us what a true family should be, didn’t he? However, in reality, where is it?

Is this inexplicable? Do you feel Father’s Seonghwa was a joyful event from your hearts? It was great that Father passed to the spirit world peacefully after accomplishing all he wanted. Do you think that? I reached my own conclusion, why Father had to pass to the spirit world (Seonghwa) through praying for one year and six months. I would like to explain my logic for reaching my conclusion. However, I spent already 40 minutes. But this is a very critical issue.

Father is the Second Advent of the Messiah. If so, what did he leave behind? In reality on earth? Did he leave only confusion? Today, our church is chaotic and confused. Was it his mission on earth to leave chaos? Why is it this way? I want to ask you. What are your answers?

I love and respect Father from the bottom of my heart. I feel intolerable and agonizing pains in my heart; and I feel repentant and remorseful to Father. It is agonizing and excruciating. Am I crazy to ask these questions and seek answers?

During my physical ordeal—extracting my gallbladder and operating on my bile duct cancer—I kept asking God for the answer through experiencing these agonizing pains. Why did Father pass away (Seonghwa)? And I have continued asking and seeking the answer for this for one year and six months. Why? Why did he die just before welcoming the Foundation Day? Just like Moses could not enter into the Promised Land of Canaan but was left gazing at it, Father could not be alive on the planned Foundation Day. What did Father plan to do on the Foundation Day? First, the True Family must have been established. Second, the Wedding of God should have taken place. How much Father was longing to conduct the completion stage and final Wedding of God, since he had fulfilled the formation and growth stages? How hard did he long for the Foundation Day on January 13, 2012?

It was planned , but changed to the Golden Wedding Anniversary of The True Parents, as Father said that the proper indemnity conditions were not set up. It was announced that the third Wedding will be postponed to January 13, 2013.

I want to read from the official explanation regarding “The Foundation Day” by Yasuo Usui, Director of Family Education of Unification Church, Japan. I want to introduce his explanation, the significance of “the Foundation Day” on February 22, 2013 (Heavenly Calendar January 13 Cheon Gi Year 4) according to Rev. Sun Myung Moon. Let me read now.

1. The Day when True Father (Rev. Sun Myung Moon) and True Mother (Mrs. Hak Ja Han), God’s substantial embodiments, will hold “The Third Holy Wedding Ceremony of True Parents”;

2. The Day when God’s Family (God’s Original Ideal Family of Creation) will be initiated;

3. The Day when The Original Ideal family of Creation will expand; and the substantial Cheon Il Guk (God’s Fatherland) will be initiated;

4. The New Day of Eternal Life, enjoying the Eternal Liberation and Release by attending God as the center, opening the New Heaven and the New Earth.

Did any of the contents of the above description become a reality? The Foundation Day was set on January 13 th, right? God’s Wedding was also to happen on January 13th. Yet, Father had passed to the spirit world before the planned day that he was eagerly waiting for. How chagrined he must have felt? Moses could not enter into the land of Canaan even though he gazed at it ahead of him. How chagrined Moses must have felt?

I want to quote an excerpt from True Father’s speech on April 6, 2008.

As Cain and Abel unite as one centered on Mother—which indemnifies Eve causing Adam, whose position was her husband to fall—the Mother follows and obeys her husband completely, and she becomes one with the intended true love and true life that is directly connected with God before the fall of man; thus, (the family) will be linked to the true lineage which has nothing to do with the Satanic World. Consequently, the world will become the Kingdom of God on earth, of freedom and liberation, with one mind, one body, one hope, one harmony, and one nucleus.

Until January 13, 2013, a nation that practices Absolute Faith, Absolute Love and Absolute Obedience must be established. The House of Unification is prepared as a formal model. As the heavenly world and earthly world are established, the world will be the world of liberation and release. Yet, God has not been liberated or released.

The ceremony at 49 th Anniversary of True Parents Day April 6, 2008

The model of the Heavenly Kingdom is the True Family. The Mother who brought unity between Cain and Abel before True Father— the Savior, Messiah, The Lord of Second Advent, True Parents—must walk confidently the path toward perfection with Absolute Faith, Absolute Love and Absolute Obedience; and all members of the True Family must walk the path toward perfection, while practicing Absolute Faith, Absolute Love and Absolute Obedience. You must understand how difficult the path which True Father has gone through. When you follow the path in my place, instead of thinking how difficult and hard, you will be able to overcome unbelievable difficulties and troubles—like facing life or death situations thousands and tens of thousands of times on the path—only if you offer your gratitude to Heaven. A life of liberation and release can only be achieved when your mind and body are totally united. You must give your utmost efforts before January 13 th in order that you will fulfill your responsibility given by Heaven— complete your 120 disciples, 1200 members of your clan and 12,000 members of your tribe. You must engrave this in your heart. You are granted to be victors; each of you must be the master who can perfect yourself with full confidence. Aju! Applaud!

The Cain world and Abel world must become one centered on the Mother who represents Father at her center. Now is the time of the final showdown. How busy we must be until January 13, 2013! This is the absolutely destined mission. The liberation of our Home Land meaning, God will grant everything to be fulfilled on earth after creating Heaven’s nation. Mother. Since Adam’s family became a false family and destroyed the world, we must restore sons and daughters of the Satanic World to God’s sons and daughters centered on the True Family. True Father does not do everything.

What has God sought to find through the six thousand years of the Providence of Restoration? Before 43

finding one nation, before finding one people or church, what has to be found? It is a family. Namely, he (the Messiah at the second coming) had to find his spouse and then his family. In order that one nation should be established, there must be a family. Therefore, the family is the most fundamental among all.

Blessed Family and the Ideal Kingdom I

Since the family of Adam who was the ancestor of Humanity was destroyed, this family should be restored. In order to accomplish this objective, True Parents prepared for the day (The Foundation Day). However, it was not accomplished.

Who should be responsible for True Family and the Establishment of the Home Land? Adam (Formation), Jesus (Growth) and the Second Coming (Completion). Formation, Growth and Completion. We learned from the Divine Principle that God’s nation must be established during the time of the Second Coming. Adam (Formation), Noah (Growth) and Abraham (Completion). Thus, by the third time, Abraham’s family must succeed for the Old Testament era to commence. We learned this through the Divine Principle.

The Old Testament era would have commenced if Abraham had offered successfully the symbolic offering to indemnify all failures that accumulated in the course of the providence, vertically. Contrary to this plan, Abraham failed, repeating the mistakes of the past. Consequently, the providence centered on him was prolonged horizontally through the three generations of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. When Jacob succeeded in making the offering, Jacob’s victory was Isaac’s victory and ultimately was Abraham’s victory; thus, the Old Testament era commenced. Likewise, in the age of the Second Advent, his providence would prolong horizontally for three generations –from True Father, his child, and grandchild.

I believe that through prolongation from the first, second, to the third generation, God’s family will be restored; thus, the Foundation Day will be welcomed in a real sense. The first, second and third generations. What True Father could not fulfill will be accomplished through the three generations. The victory will be linked to True Father. This is my sincere desire to prepare for such a victorious day. True Father spoke about the importance of The Three Great Kingships and Lineage.

I will continue by reading Father’s words:

Lineage is more important than life and more important than love. Life and love come together to create lineage. Lineage cannot be established if either life or love is missing. Therefore, among the three qualities that define the parent-child relationship—love, life and lineage—lineage is the fruit.

God’s lineage contains the seed of true love. God’s lineage provides the context and environment for a true life. Hence, for us to become the ideal people envisioned by God, that is, people of ideal character, and to create ideal families, we first need to be linked to His lineage. To take it a step further, only when we are linked to God’s lineage is it possible to create God’s homeland, the ideal nation. Only when we are linked to God’s lineage is it possible to establish the kingdom of the peaceful, ideal w orld. Please inscribe the importance of lineage in your hearts. I cannot emphasize this enough

Without lineage, neither life nor love can endure. You strive to set a good tradition, but it will endure only through your lineage. Lineage is the bridge allowing the parents’ spirit to carry on through subsequent generations. In other words, lineage is the first and final condition necessary for parents to harvest the fruits of their love, the fruits of their life and the fruits of their joy. We need to know this with certainty.

The Importance of Lineage Peace Messages (Pyeonghwa Shingyeong)

I believe that Father’s breath and seed will be connected through his lineage in the future. Therefore, I contemplated and sought who among his children would be able to inherit his tradition and the realm of his heart through succeeding his legacy and placing the utmost importance in his words. Who among his children? Who among his male children? I sought the answer in an extremely serious manner. Consequently, I concluded that there was no one except the third son, Hyun Jin’s family. Except his family, where are the families who can inherit Father’s tradition and the realm of his heart? I cannot find anyone else. This is what I think.

Of course any of the True Children must fulfill the 5% of his or her responsibility. Who among them would struggle desperately to fulfill Father’s desire? This is a serious question. I looked to find the answer offering my eternal life. I asked myself the question, can this child could do this?

I met several of them in person. Inside, I was always questioning if this person could be the one. Can he do it? For instance, I discussed with one of the children, with brutal honesty. He said to me, “If I follow Father, the projects that I am responsible for will be totally useless. “ I said to myself… “No, not this person.”

I said to him that Father, as the Messiah, had ordered us to do something inconceivable. “Our responsibility is to accept it and carry it out with Absolute faith, Absolute love and Absolute obedience. With this standard, we can overcome and open a path for the future.” He responded, “Mr. Kamiyama, what are you saying? This…” (Mr. Kamiyama gestures pounding the desk) Oh, no. It is difficult for him to understand…

Then I went to meet another child because I wanted to find out if this person is the one. I wanted to feel the person meeting with him. I wanted to check him out. Does he really love God and humanity? Is he that one who can inherit True Father’s realm of heart? Does he really love Father? What I expected of him was whether he takes responsibility for Father’s lamentations before his passing, even if it prolongs to the second and third generation? If so, I would help and protect him from behind. This was and is my firm determination.

The Future of Humanity will be Miserable

Unless we grope and find a path of salvation, we will be like the Israelites 2000 years ago, who after sending Jesus to the cross, a miserable fate descended upon the people—the chosen people who could not fulfill their responsibility will end up in a miserable consequence.

The Roman army surrounded Jerusalem for 6 months and utilized starvation tactics against the Israelites and the walls came down and its temple was destroyed in 70 AD. The Israel nation was conquered and totally ruined by the Roman Empire in 135 AD. Even after the defeat, many uprisings continued and caused a severe response from the Roman Empire. Romans determined to make a clean sweep of Jewish color from this region and renamed it Palestine; naming it after the hated name of the Philistines. Even before this change, the Jews were dispersed all over the Roman Empire. But after this, again Jews in the region were forced to leave and dispersed; thus, they became a wandering tribe.

The extermination and the human experimentation of 6 million Jews was done by Nazi Germany in concentration camps. Human tortures were conducted for all kinds of medical experimentation. The victims were either killed or had to endure hideous appearances and/or physical handicaps caused by the inhuman experiments for the rest of their lives.

“Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children.” (Luke 23: 28 NIV)

If the same fate befalls Korea, the chosen nation at the Second Coming, what will happen to Japan and the world? As He looks at the situation today, how miserable God must feel? How about True Father who watches this situation from the spirit world? Think about it? Don’t you think this situa tion has resulted from our attitude of faith, that we doubted and disbelieved Father and that we did not obey God absolutely?

I will read excerpt from Father’s speech. I believe this passage is very important today:

As you all know, Adam’s family described in the Divine Principle is not dead. The family is still alive. Their failures are not the failures of a dead family in the past, but rather remain today as living examples. God had to use these failures as living examples in order that their successors would build victorious foundations; thus, it was possible for Jacob’s family, Moses’ racial and Jesus’ national level providences to enter into God’s Kingdom. The Lord of the Second Advent will be the same. All of them are still alive. Once you study the Principle, you know that Adam’s family is the same as your family.

It is the same with Noah. Have you ever gained the same level of faith demonstrated by Noah? Where in the world can you find a person crazy enough to build a ship at the top of Mt. Ararat for 120 years? If you want to build a ship, it is acceptable to do it by the river, right? Since he was doing it on the top of a mountain, how much was he opposed and ridiculed? Of course, he was called crazy. Also, he was the subject of all kinds of terrible rumors and was persecuted in various ways. Even all the animals from East, West, North and South –including insignificant tiny animals in the mountains—pointed at the back of Noah saying, “There is no body more senile than this old man. Where else could you find such a crazy old fogy?” You must know that Noah established that God’s power and authority – that He – was alive, even if everyone and every living thing totally ignored him; this became the flood judgment.

Now, how about you? Have you ever believed in the Unification Church and invested your efforts for the Church with such faith? Noah never rested while he was building the ark. Even with rain or snow, you would have to work for 120 years to build a ship to accommodate all things of creation in it. Did Noah get any appreciation or donation from his own village? His own people mocked and laughed at him calling him a crazy old fogy.

Abraham went the same course. God called Abraham from Ur of the Chaldeans. Since Abraham was the eldest son of an idolater, how did he really believe in God’s calling when he left his home? He believed an unbelievable order and followed it. Later, God ordered him saying, “Sacrifice your son, Isaac as a burnt offering.” God blessed Abraham saying, “Look up at heaven and count the stars—if indeed you can count them. So shall your offspring be.” Then, what kind of order was this to sacrifice his son Isaac, as a burnt offering, the son who was born when Abraham was 100 years old? This is madness. Who can believe t his order?

If you believe in the position impossible to be believed, you can establish your foundation. Why is this so? The fall took place; the human ancestors did not believe in God while standing in the position where they should have had no reason but to believe. Therefore, unless you believe in God from a position where you have reason not to believe Him, the bud of faith does not sprout. This is the traditional realm of faith. This is in accordance with God’s providential formula in the time of transition.

Didn’t Abraham fail to divide his symbolic offering? He thought it was no big deal to divide the offering. You should not think what I teach is no big deal. What I share with you is historical proclamation. How much have you carelessly dropped my words that are more valuable than dividing the offering? You must know that the words you dropped are the conditions of accusation that will remain for thousands and tens of thousands of years.

God’s Will, that could have restored the victorious sovereignty that was separated from the satanic world in both Heaven and earth, was frustrated because Abraham failed to divide a little dove in half. Therefore, you must realize that your attitude and actions of disbelief before the Will of God will be tens or hundreds of times more damaging than Abraham’s failure in offering the symbolic sacrifices.

Excerpt from Speech, “Absolute Faith and Absolute Love” October 9, 1994

Father, while he was alive, always instructed this content. This is that Korea and Japan must unite into one with true love. And the two nations should lead the world.

At Yosu, one Korean member mentioned to Father that Japan was the enemy nation… He brought up the past story. Immediately, Father snapped at him, “Don’t mention such a thing! Don’t talk about it! I am ashamed of myself!” I cannot forget this event. In order to save the world, Korea and Japan must unite into one. No matter what happens. However, today the distance between Japan and Korea is widening. Currently, 70% of Japanese citizens dislike Korea. Honestly speaking, my heart is heavy and in pain even talking about this. 70% of Japanese are anti-Korea.

Why did it happen? Father tried to bring the two nations together. When he called me to Yosu, he told me that I came there as the representative of Japan. He said to me, “It is good that you are living here at Yosu. As you live here, Japanese people will become interested in Korea. So, make this place your homelan d. You should be buried here. You should not consider yourself as Japanese. You must be one with me.” Also, he said, “According to the providence, Korea is the Adam nation. Japan is the Eve nation. That means husband and wife!” He continued, saying, “The marriage means husband and wife become one and create a new life. By the same token, a united Korea and Japan would bring peace to the world. So, don’t think you are Japanese. As one body, create Cheon Il Guk and establish God’s fatherland. A bride who join s her husband as his wife should assimilate with him. Likewise, Korea and Japan should together find a way to establish Cheon Il Guk. If this situation continues, Heavenly fortune will break away.” This is what he shared with me. I understood that it is not a time for accusing each other based on what happened in the past. What do you think?

About Lineage and Three Great Kingships: Lastly, I would like to talk about Lineage and the Three Great Kingships. Please think about our history (Japan). Japan’s history started with the first emperor, Jimmu on up to the current emperor, Heisei, with the lineage of the emperor continuing without any interruption for 125 generations. Why has this monarchy survived for this long? I believe that God protected the monarchy to teach us something today. In Japan’s history, the war lords—Nobunaga Oda, Hideyoshi Toyotomi, and Ieyasu Tokugawa—controlled the country and they were the sovereigns of Japan. However, none of them destroyed or replaced the emperor and the monarchy. Even during the postwar era after World War II, the monarchy might have been discontinued or eliminated. For instance, it could easily have been done by the policy of GHQ (General Headquarters), American authority or MacArthur’s opinion. Don’t you think so? Japan was defeated and surrendered unconditionally. However, the Emperor and Monarchy were not abolished. The Emperor system was protected.

Why? I am sure that God protected it in order that He could teach something important. In the past, monarchies existed in numerous nations. Many of them no longer exist after democracy took over. Why did the democratic world appear? You learned in the Divine Principle, didn’t you? The system remains in Japan and in Britain, both of which are the Eve nations. Monarchies remain in several nations including Japan now. But, you hear that the British monarchy has had a lot of trouble lately.

I have a question for you. If the Emperor of Japan passed to the spirit world, who would succeed him to be

the head of the monarchy? Empress Michiko? After the Emperor passes, Empress Michiko will become the Emperor, right? Emperor’s family… How about Japanese ladies, what do you think? Once the emperor passes to the spirit world, the crown prince will succeed as the new Emperor. Behind the new Emperor, Empress Michiko will provide the necessary support. Japanese history has lasted 125 generations starting from Emperor Jimmu. The last 4 emperors are Meiji, Taisho, Showa, and Heisei and the new Emperor. With his new name begins the new era.

On God’s side, there will be a new system of Three Great Kingships; and the system will continue for eternity. Father is the first generation, second, and third …. And this lineage will contin ue for eternity. All blessed families linked to this central lineage and a new monarchy will be born. This is how God’s ideal world will be established on earth. This is what I believe.

Why God could not protect Father?

Why did True Father pass away (Seonghwa) before Foundation Day? Why could God not protect him? What was the problem?

Let me quote an excerpt from his words:

It was said that “Jesus is the son of God,” however, God could not love Jesus. Jesus was crucified and died. Why could God not protect him from the place of death as His son? Why did God turn His back on the only begotten son when His son was facing certain death?

Where are such parents? Can we enter the Kingdom of Heaven by believing such parents? Are you guaranteed? God did not allow Jesus’ desire to be fulfilled or listen to his desperate prayer, but pushed Jesus to the gallows. How can we believe such a God? How can we say, “We will go to the Heavenly Kingdom”?

You should not believe in God blindly and unconditionally. Why did God allow this happening? Although God is all powerful, God must untangle the tangled things in order to use them. However, in order to untangle them, God Himself cannot do it. Humans must do it. Unless human beings untangle them, God’s Will is not fulfilled. Because of this, before the Will is fulfilled, God had to offer even His beloved as ransom in order to prolong God’s providence. This is God’s strategy.

In order to become a Living Sacrifice

I would like to share with you an excerpt from Father’s speech. Father gave closing remarks at the end of the Major Divine Principle workshop for the Japanese Leadership on June 30, 1967.

 Who are the people who gather to our church? They are the people needed to be redeemed by the church leader as a sacrifice. Namely, they are the people who gather for the ceremony of redemption.

 Therefore, the leader who is given greater responsibility is a sacrifice. If the Japanese church mishandles this, the development will be greatly harmed.

 Such a leader as a sacrifice! I spoke how you can fulfill your responsibility as a sacrifice today. You 48

must know this is very important.

The person, who needs to set indemnity conditions, has no freedom. He is a sacrifice. He who holds self concepts cannot be a sacrifice. Also, he who becomes the sacrifice cannot act according to his own desires. If the Master calls and says, “You should climb up on the altar and shed your blood!” You must obey the Master. You cannot resist. Like Isaac. Although you still own your authority over your own life, you should not have such an authority towards the parent. Therefore, you must not have self concepts. Do you know what I say? (“Yes”) This is how it is.

Until now, the mind and body have been fighting each other. As Heaven and earth were divided in creation, the relationship between the mind and the body is that of heaven and earth. In the past, the offering was cut into two and shed blood of indemnity in order to offer to God. However, now we are in the realm of merit where God and Satan recognized the past sacrifices that were shed blood and divided, and we can be one with the victorious foundation of the sacrifice; thus we can be offered to God without dying. Therefore, we must offer ourselves as a living sacrifice to God and become new beings that are given new life from God. Unless we become such a substance, we cannot be true children of Heaven. Namely, unless you go beyond being a sacrifice and become a resurrected substance, you may not enter Heaven. Unlike the resurrected Jesus who is a spiritual being because his body was killed, you must reach the standard where both your spirit and body are resurrected. Only by reaching that, are you qualified to enter the Kingdom of God on earth where both heaven and earth are perfected. Do you understand? (“Yes”)

Therefore, you must not die. You cannot die physically. But, if you don’t let go of the consciousness of your existence, Satan will hit you. Not God, but Satan will attack you. Such a person cannot be a sacrifice. Why was Jesus likened to a lamb? A lamb will never resist if the Master sheers its coat or cuts its throat with a knife. A lamb only bleats one cry, “Baa,” when the Master take its life.

This is different from other animals. It symbolizes obedience. It symbolizes honesty. This is the attitude for indemnity. If it resists, its nature would agree with Satan’s. Satan is the master of opposition. Didn’t Satan raise a flag of opposition against righteousness? He resisted God and went against goodness. To become a sacrifice, you must not have any elements of opposition. A lamb was a symbol of Jesus, because Jesus never offered any resistance, nor opposition to God, like a lamb. After Jesus prayed three times at Gethsemane, he said, “As You will,” and “not as I will, but as You will.” He repeated this three times. His obedience and honesty are symbolized as a lamb. So, you should not have the concept of self-existence.

When offered, a person who needs to sacrifice himself for his redemption should not have any say on who will make the offering—should he be upper class or lower class—in other words, a sacrifice should not have any class consciousness. You should go beyond classes and be obedient to anyone from any class. You should be ready to be an offering for a miserable person. You should be a sacrifice for a chief priest. Then, you are no longer bound by class-consciousness. Why should you who would be a sacrifice go beyond class-consciousness? If you are bound by class-consciousness, you cannot stand in a position of the heart. In heart and love, there is no sense of class. Isn’t this right? So, don’t keep any class-consciousness. No more favoritism. When people come asking to redeem themselves from their sins, you will be able to deal with everyone fairly. You are in pitiable position—being a sacrifice. But you must strive to live such a way.

What is your position? A sacrifice to be offered. You must be offered both spirit and body. So, we cannot insist on our own position, saying, “I am so and so. I am a college graduate. I graduated from Tokyo University. Look, I am in a higher social status than you.” You must forego such a concept.

You must not have consciousness of your own self. You must not have class-consciousness. Who is the leader who is tasked with the greater responsibility? He is a sacrifice for the whole who will climb on the altar. President Kuboki is a sacrifice that is offered on the altar representing Japan. On the altar, there is no more consciousness of self. No class-consciousness. You offer yourself for the whole. 49

You are an offering for a miserable person or a person with high social status —beyond all classes. You are offered for redemption of all people. Do you follow? (”Yes”) First, you should not keep consciousness of your own existence. Second, you should let go of class-consciousness. Unless you are able to do these, you can never be a sacrifice to be offered to God.

From this perspective, let me give you my critique. You are leaders of different districts. So a district leader should give an order confidently as a representative of God. “Hey!” Who are the people who gather to our church? They are the people needed to be redeemed by the church leader as a sacrifice. Namely, they are the people who gather for the ceremony of redemption. What should you do at the ceremony? People are gathered to be redeemed of their sins. Therefore, the leader, who is a sacrifice to be used to redeem them, stands in the position to give an order to and resurrect them. At such a time, you must prepare yourself to receive the order first. Without this attitude, if you give the order, you will violate the law. Do you understand?

Even Jesus had to win the twelve disciples to natural surrender and redeem their sins so that the disciples were grateful to him as being saved by him. With gratitude, all disciples confessed their eternal purpose expressing, “Even though we face death thousands of times, we will be grateful. Please lead us in order to do God’s Will.” By receiving this confession, Jesus was able to give an order to them. Until such a time, he could not give any orders. Do you understand clearly? (“Yes”)

If you inherit this tradition and work at your district according to this spirit, you will witness never ending tears of gratitude of being redeemed of sins wherever you go. This is the conclusion. “We are grateful to our district leader who acted as a true sacrifice for redeeming our sins.” The members are always respectful before such a leader. Do you know what I am talking about? Do you? (“Yes”) But, if you mishandle this, the development of our movement in Japan will be greatly hindered.

Therefore, the leader who is given greater responsibility is a sacrifice. Because you are a sacrifice for a great many people, unless you accomplish your mission as an intermediary—providing God’s grace through you as a sacrifice, you are not qualified to give any order to people. For example, if their sins amount to 100, only after you redeem the sins equivalent to 100, you are allowed to give the order equivalent of 90. However, despite there are 100 sins to be redeemed, you only forgive the equivalent of 10 sins, but you give the order which is equivalent to 20; then, both the leader and the people following will be claimed by Satan. Do you follow? (”Yes”)

All sacrifices including Jesus in the past were offered by shedding the blood as an indemnity condition. However, today what we need to do is to go forth with determination to offer our life—shedding our blood—instead, we shed our sweat and tears as replacement for blood. We must go through this. Why? In order to set up indemnity condition, the offering must be cut in two. It is the iron-clad rule that the sacrifice must be divided in two. But, instead you must shed tears centered on God’s Heart and stand in the realm of God’s Heart in place of God. This was the situation of Jesus. While standing in the same place as Jesus, you give all you have as a living sacrifice for the redemption of people shedding tears. Otherwise, the Kingdom of God will not be built on earth. Do you follow? (“Yes”) Do you understand? (“Yes”)

Firstly, a sacrifice does not have any concept of self. If you understand this clearly and go back to your district, you will be able to fulfill your responsibility as a leader. Secondly, you must not have any class- consciousness. Reflect on your attitude in the past from this new understanding, were you humble as a leader? Or were you arrogant? What would have been your score from this point of view? But, from now on, if you practice these points, people will follow you while shedding tears of gratitude. That is a logical consequence. They feel that they will be saved by you. Then, their conscience will know it and follow the goodness. Their original minds will follow God. Once you set this eternal standard, you will be a true sacrifice. Both heaven and earth will bow their heads.

Rev. Moon is determined to keep this standard in my life even risking my own life. This is how I live.

When you welcome me, saying, “Thank you Rev. Moon for gracing us with your presence.” But, I don’t allow myself to indulge in good feelings. On the contrary, I know I have a very important task to provide salvation to them. Their original mind would be moved to tears. So, I am prepared to receive people with the heart of giving. Thinking this way, no matter how hard I give myself, I don’t feel it is hard or arduous. The more I do, the more I want to do. Your heart is wired this way without being taught by anyone.

This is how parents live for their children. Loving parents will sacrifice themselves for the sake of their children even if they wear rags. They never seek for any reward or being appreciated. They do not have any concept of themselves or class-consciousness. Some leader wants to give an order even though he did not give birth to this person (child), “Hey! You must offer filial piety to me.” Many leaders are like this. This goes against the Principle. You should be aware that you have such a tendency. You have a very strong tendency! I can see it in your eyes, tip of nose, ears, and mouth. You are full of it. Do you understand? You must change for the better.

We must clarify everything and repent with seriousness

I am certain that if we start with Father’s tradition, Father’s thought and the words that give life while making a commitment to inherit the realm of God’s love, all the problems that we see will be resolved. You will find a proper solution in the words.

I am an expert in discerning between right and wrong. That is why I know immediately who is for Satan and who is for God…. To stop this battle, He had to clarify what was right and wrong. There was a complete split of opinion. Cheon Seong Gyeong (Book 6: Our Life and the Spiritual Realm Chapter 3, Section 2.1)

Let me read a passages from Father’s words:

After having discovered the words of truth, when I claimed, “This is how the spirit world should be,” Satan opposed me and even God opposed me. Since humankind abandoned God, God must abandon humankind. This is the law of restoration through indemnity. To stop this battle, He had to clarify what was right and wrong. There was a complete split of opinion. Cheon Seong Gyeong Book 6: Our Life and the Spiritual Realm Chapter 3, Section 2.1

To conclude my talk today, I would read Father’s words:

God’s lineage contains the seed of true love. God’s lineage provides the context and environment for a true life. Hence, for us to become the ideal people envisioned by God, that is, people of ideal character, and to create ideal families, we first need to be linked to His lineage. To take it a step further, only when we are linked to God’s lineage is it possible to create God’s homeland, the ideal nation. Only when we are linked to God’s lineage is it possible to establish the kingdom of the peaceful, ideal world.

Without lineage, neither life nor love can endure. You strive to set a good tradition, but it will endure only through your lineage. Lineage is the bridge allowing the parents’ spirit to carry on through subsequent generations. In other words, lineage is the first and final condition necessary for parents to harvest the fruits of their love, the fruits of their life and the fruits of their joy. We need to know this with certainty.
