In Memory of Kent Johnston — Johnston · Following the Stories of Real People

Kent was born on April 14, 1954 in New York City to parents Irene Graham and Thomas Johnston. They lived together in Toronto, Canada and later San Francisco, where he met and joined the Unification Movement.

A decade of mission followed as he participated in international, interracial, and interreligious initiatives to help bring about a more peaceful world led by Rev. and Mrs. Moon. Kent was matched and received the Blessing of marriage to Viviane Francis on July 1, 1982.

In 1985 the Johnstons moved to the Gulf Coast to work in the shipbuilding business. From there Kent made the decision to start his own business selling books in order to have the flexibility of time to invest in his greatest joy: raising his children.

Kent was superman and did it all at times. While building his business, he’d come home to cook elaborate meals, and then gather the family together each evening to read from his extensive collection of books, both religious and secular, ever seeking to obtain and bequeath wisdom and knowledge.

Kent departed from this life on September 7, 2019. He leaves his wife Viviane, children Coree, Charles, Beni, and Jeanette, their spouses and his grandchildren, as well as a loving community of beautiful souls to cherish his memory.
