Treasures of Heaven Family Camp 2019 and Request for Financial Support

This year’s European Treasures of Heaven Family Camp will be held from 7th to 12th August in the Netherlands. This annual family event is for Blessed Children (aged 16 and over) with special needs and their parents, supported by volunteering buddies.

The TOH ministry has been set up to give special attention and support to our 2nd (and further) gen. brothers and sisters with special needs, either physically or mentally. They usually cannot take part in general youth activities for 2nd gen and therefore have little opportunity to experience the joy and atmosphere of the togetherness of joint activities.

Since 2011, we have held five TOH summer camps, all of which had a very deep and joyful impact on everybody who was involved. As some of the participants need special care, we always request at least one parent to be at the workshop as well – a unique addition. Not only does it give the parents a chance to share with each other, and have some free time and fun as well, but it also creates strong family bonds among all participants through daily shared moments like morning service, games, competitions, music or dance and evening programmes.

Age Group: This camp is for participants aged 16+

Location: Near Nijmegen (details will be provided in information letter following registration)

WS Fees: 200 Euro for participants (150 Euro p.p. in the case that 3 or more from one family attend) 70 Euro for buddies

For Volunteers

Are you looking for a chance to deepen your heart and experience how rewarding it is to really live for

the sake of others? Come support as staff at our camp so that we can together build a true family atmosphere.

As a buddy, you will be assigned to a specific participant, which means that you bond with him/her and are responsible for his/her enjoyment, comfort and safety. Of course you will not be alone in that, as all activities are performed as a group. You will focus on supporting the participant and becoming friends with him/her. The only qualification you need is dedication and enthusiasm!

Additionally, we are also looking for people who have experience or even professional training in crafts, art, music, dance and the like, to lead a group activity and create an exciting programme together.

Last but not least, the external welfare makes a big impact on the workshop experience as well – therefore we need people who will enthusiastically support the kitchen staff and spoil our physical needs.

Treasures of Heaven Family Camp 2019 Invitation

Dear brothers and sisters of our European community,

We want to thank all those who have contributed to the fundraising effort to support the TOH Summer camps in previous years. With your help we could reduce the financial burden for participating families and sponsor our volunteers.

This year the Summer Camp will take place in the South of the Netherlands, from august 5 to 7, and again we will need the support of our Church communities to cover the extra costs that such a workshop entails: parents are requested to accompany their child to the WS, we need a lot of volunteers and some special equipment.

The program is compiled to suit the needs of blessed children (age 16 +) with physical and/or mental special needs – personal circumstances that would prevent them from joining in regular youth workshop activities. This is now a mainstream event forming an important part of our Europe-‐wide summer activities for young people.

Our workshops are designed as family gatherings, with always one or both parents accompanying their son or daughter. Parts of the program take place in separate groups – giving parents and children a well-earned break from each other – while each day there are shared activities for everyone: adjusted morning service, mealtimes, outings, competition games and more.
