At the International Stadium Yokohama in Yokohama, Japan, England and South Africa went head-to- head at the 2019 Rugby World Cup final on November 2. More than 60,000 spectators, including members of the British royal family and the president of South Africa, attended, as well as an estimated 40 million viewers from around the world tuning in via TV and social networks.

N. Iwasaki, a young Unificationist barber local to Philadelphia, spent his first two years as a barber in the South Philadelphia area. Then, in November 2018, he spent a year in Sapporo, Japan to acquire supplementary skills at a barbershop.

While in Japan, this past September 2019, Iwasaki’s barbershop was contacted by one of England’s professional rugby players about four national rugby teams — Australia, Tonga, Fiji and England — looking for an English-speaking barber in Japan to cut their hair for their first rugby matches at the Sapporo Dome. Iwasaki was the only one who spoke English and immediately agreed.

Iwasaki returned to the U.S. on October 9, but was invited back to Japan two weeks later to give the teams haircuts before the quarter-finals, and then two weeks after that, he was invited back again for the final match between England and South Africa! Iwasaki recruited his friend Takuya Mulbah, another young Unificationist barber from South Philadelphia, to help complete this notable task.

Pastor Shota Iwasaki of the Philadelphia Family Church said, “I think Heavenly Parent really wants young Unificationists to shine on the global providential stage together with South Africa, supporting Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon wholeheartedly.”
