The Philadelphia Family Church is excited to announce the completion of their new Student Housing Center which welcomed its first 100 tenants on August 1. The center was built on the old Philadelphia church grounds which was 88-years-old and difficult to maintain. “Many Unificationists really invested their hearts into the building, and many young adults today have grown up here,” said Philadelphia Pastor Shota Iwasaki. “It was a difficult decision,” but after many meetings and discussions about the ongoing maintenance and repairs on the old building, together the community decided “the best move was to create a wonderful new space for students to live in.”

The old Philadelphia church building was located in University City and sat right next door to a lot owned by Campus Apartments, the largest and most successful private student housing company in America. Campus Apartments had approached the Philadelphia Family Church multiple times in the past years about potentially selling the old church location. The Philadelphia Family Church made the decision to partner up with Campus Apartments to create the modern, high-end, 100-bedroom apartment building. Every single bedroom has been fully leased, mostly by students at the University of Pennsylvania, which has been such a blessing to the Philadelphia community. “It has been a long time since the Philadelphia community has had the resources to truly make a difference in the community,” reported Sunkwon Bush, Local Council Chairperson of Unification Family Church of Philadelphia.

Dr. Ki Hoon Kim Regional Chairman of Family Federation North America and Rev. Richard Buessing President of Family Federation for a Heavenly USA offered their sincerest congratulations to the Philadelphia community “for taking responsibility to manage and care for True Parents’ foundation for the sake of advancing toward a successful future.”
