The 2025 CESNUR Academic Conference was held at the Cape Town International Convention Center in South Africa from November 18 to 19.

Under the theme “Religious Freedom, Spirituality, and Unity among New Religious Movements,” the conference convened more than 500 participants.

In his keynote address, Dr. Massimo Introvigne of the Center for Studies on New Religions (CESNUR) shed light on the contemporary significance of new religious movements and African indigenous spirituality, while underscoring the importance of religious freedom.

Forum for Religious Freedom (FOREF) Europe Secretary-General Peter Zoehrer also urged greater international solidarity in defense of religious liberty.

During the conference, special attention was given to African indigenous spirituality through the presentation of Prophet Samuel Radebe, founder of African Hidden Voices.

His insights highlighted the richness of Africa’s spiritual traditions, and the conference unfolded as a meaningful forum that emphasized respect for diversity and harmony in support of religious freedom.
