President Trump has plenty of issues... but I really appreciate his China policy

Before Trump, China was walking all over and taking advantage of the world. No one was standing up to China. Everyone was riding the China wave and “benefitting” off of the cheap labor.

But China was getting the much better part of the deal. It was amassing foreign money, technology, gaining trade/military secrets. It has been a total winner of the past four decades.

The hope when China opened up was that it would develop economically and in the process also become a democratic nation. So everyone was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. It was also very attractive financially. But China didn’t become democratic. Instead it used the system, developed it own state-run- capitalism, and brought itself onto the global stage.

There are over a million Turkic Muslims, the Uygurs, locked up in campsites being “re-educated” by the Chinese communist regime right now. The Christian churches that were growing openly for a period of time have in recent years been shut down, or even being converted to communist education centers. The ten commandments on the walls replaced by words of President Xi jinping.

We are of course outlawed in China. We can’t have any official activity, and all our members are known to the authorities. A few years back some second gen from Taiwan went to Beijing to have a small workshop in an apartment for the local kids, maybe 20 people all together. The police and the religious security came to disrupt the gathering and then deported all the foreigners after collecting their information. I don’t know if any of them have tried to re-enter the country, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they can’t. It’s happened to others we know many times, that and worse.

So, if nothing else, I am grateful that President Trump is standing up to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its manipulation of the world. If this didn’t happen now, and things were just left to go on as they were, things would be much worse. Before anyone knew it, we would all be under the grip of the CCP.

In this sense, I believe President Trump is a God-send. If for no other reason than because his business man instincts could smell a rotten deal and pull out to renegotiate before things became irreversible.
