God’s Lineage and Citizen Sovereignty

A recurring theme throughout the Cheon Il Guk Constitution is one which recognizes that citizens have inherent, God-given civil rights. As the Father over humanity, God blessed all His children with the equal rights. These rights are not granted by the government but are freely given to us as His children. And as we are in His lineage, we naturally inherit full sovereignty over our own affairs to be fruitful, multiply, and have dominion over all of creation.

As long as we do not violate the rights of other individuals, our own citizen sovereignty remains absolute. There is a natural bias even when accused of a crime to have the assumption of innocence before being proven guilty in a court of law by our peers. No issue is singularly as important as understanding that our sovereignty comes from being in God’s lineage. If we lose this vertical relationship, our horizontal man- to-man or man-to-government relationship inevitably devolves into a popularity contest of majority opinion over minority rights.

As a sovereign citizen, it is then our own responsibility to carry out God’s will for our life. We must be constantly mindful that God gave us, as citizens of His nation, that direct responsibility. In other words, if I see an issue, God gave the responsibility to me to be part of the direct solution.

The avoidance of this responsibility, particularly its outsourcing to government, simply repeats the same mistakes found in the Garden of Eden. God gave Adam and Eve the full ability, freedom, and responsibility to grow into the individuals, couple, and family He knew they could become, but they both gave up their inherent sovereignty for quick security and short-term pleasure.
