Important Youth Ministry Updates from God's Own (GO)

After a long break because of the Holy Day celebrations the past two weeks, the God’s Own Youth Ministry Program will resume this Saturday, February 24, 2013. The Schedule will be normal - 5 PM arrivals and 9 PM departures - at the Clifton Church. On behalf of the Youth Ministry staff, I know we had a wonderful time in the past two weeks seeing some of our former and current staff members (and program participants) getting Blessed in marriage by our True Parents. Likewise, we sincerely hope that you and your families had wonderful Heavenly Parent’s Day and Foundation Day celebrations.

Now we are looking forward to getting back to our normal schedule with GO… Fun, Education, and Fellowship.

New Ideas in the Month of March In the month of March, our Youth Ministry Staff will be experimenting with a new way of doing activities. This month, we want to provide an opportunity for our young people to engage in various types of activities based on their passions - whether those passions be sports, music, arts, crafts, photography, writing, or crocheting. During our activity hour, instead of doing one big, crazy, silly activity, the staff will be leading focused, short activities based on their own passions. Some will lead dance groups. Some will teach kids how to do origami. Some will lead an exercise group, and others will engage the kids in creative writing. These miniature “workshops” are being given to engage the kids in helping them find their interests and their passion and their talents. Each activity will be hosted over the course of the entire month. The kids will be able to sample activities from each interest-area, or choose one activity to follow throughout the entire month. It is their choice. And we are hoping that some of them find a new passion, some develop a new skill, and some hone their natural talent.

In terms of education, March’s theme is, “The Chambers of the Heart.” Following Valentine’s Day, the Cosmic Blessing Ceremony, and the Foundation Day Blessing, we are sure some of the kids are thinking about love and marriage. Of course, we would like to channel that energy into True Parents’ teaching about how love grows and matures through the Four Realms of Heart. Therefore, we will be taking one week in March to discuss each of the Four Realms of Heart.

On March 2, the topic will be discussing how a child’s heart develops through the love of their parents. On March 9, we’ll talk about the sibling relationship. On March 16, we will convey why marriage is an important element of self-growth by developing our heart toward our spouse. And finally, on March 23, we’ll discuss how a Parents’ ability to love deepens through the birth and growth of their own children.

The entire month of March will culminate in a final, celebratory Talent Show that will be held on March 30th. The entire community is invited to this talent show, and we are hoping that our parents, especially will come see the talents that their children have been learning throughout the month in their interest-based activities. The Talent Show will take place from 7:30-9:00 PM on Saturday, March 30th. We hope you will take the time to come see the great, up and coming talent in our community.
