On February 11, 2023, the Women’s Federation for World Peace USA gathered in Washington, DC, for a very special and historic occasion. Over 270 people gathered in person at the Washington Times and online to thank Mrs. Angelika Selle as the outgoing WFWP USA President and WFWP International Vice President for North America, and to celebrate all the ways WFWP has grown and made an impact throughout the United States and beyond during her tenure.
WFWP members, friends, supporters, and partners congratulated Mrs. Kaeleigh Moffitt as the incoming WFWP USA President and WFWP International Vice President for North America, and gave her a warm welcome of support in the next stage of WFWP’s development.
In her remarks, President WFWP International, Julia H. Moon said: “Last year was a momentous year for WFWP, as it celebrated its 30th anniversary with many programs and online events, as well as a lovely book illustrating its history and deep roots. It was also the tenth anniversary of the launch of the Global Women’s Peace Network and the 25th anniversary of WFWP gaining recognition with the United Nations as an NGO in general consultative status. WFWP has celebrated many milestones since 1992. It has been a great pleasure to work with Angelika. Her gentle, steady leadership has been essential to the progress and development of WFWP USA since she became president in 2010. Her efforts have been very significant in spreading the vision of WFWP.”
Julia H.Moon added: “I am inspired to welcome Mrs. Kaeleigh Moffitt as the new President of WFWP USA. Her achievements so far have been deeply impressive. Her work has included outreach in the US Congress with the Universal Peace Federation, Director of the Youth and Young Adults Ministry of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, pastoring in her local church, and much more. We are standing on a firm foundation that will grow and develop in ways we probably can’t imagine. Mother Moon recently spoke of the providential shift going on in the world, as well as the generational shift in
WFWP and all the organizations under the “umbrella” of the Universal Peace Federation. Transitions always require plenty of energy, clear vision, and deep love, and I know that WFWP will be a key player in this generational shift toward peace in the 21st century and beyond. We are truly all part of one human family, sharing this beautiful planet with the responsibility of protecting it for future generations. I look forward to the future, inspired by the legacy and the new beginning of WFWP USA.”
In her address, “Looking Back and Into the Future,” Mrs. Selle gave her profound thanks for all the love and support which came, including from those attending online. Looking back at when she accepted the appointment to WFWP from Father and Mother Moon, she asked at that time what God was calling her to do and received three answers. First, study and understand the vision and mission of WFWP from Mother Moon. Second, prepare for the next generation. Third was the word “satin,” a fabric which is shiny on one side and dull on the other side. This indicated that women are called on to shine God’s love and absorb some of the toughest of life’s challenges.
The program culminated in a symbolic passing of the baton from Mrs. Selle to Mrs. Moffitt, representing the transfer of 30 years of foundation laid in WFWP USA to the next generation of leadership.
The webinar ended with smiles and applause from WFWP International President Dr. Julia H. Moon, WFWP International Senior Vice President Dr. Sun Jin Moon, Dr. Ki Hoon Kim, Chair of Cheon Eui Won for Heavenly North America, Dr. Chung Sik Yong, FFWPU Regional President North America, Dr. Michael Jenkins, UPF International President, and Naokimi Ushiroda, FFWPU USA President. They congratulated both Mrs. Moffitt and Mrs. Selle and expressed their firm support in continuing to advance the important work of WFWP.
