Houston Family Church Seeks New Pastor

The local Houston Family Church (FFWPU) in Houston, Texas, is seeking to hire a pastor. The Unification Movement has a long history here, going back to the early 1970’s. As the fourth largest city in the United States, Houston is also one of the fastest growing cities.

The very diverse congregation consists of approximately 10-15 active Unification Church families, including a number of next-generation Unificationist families. (We also have several families who are less active, and a number of associate members, ACLC clergy, and Ambassadors for Peace.) We own the church center where service is held currently, so there is no mortgage payment.

Houston is a great place to raise a family! Relatively conservative values and schools, including Universities, no state income tax, great hospitals and medical facilities, a healthy economy and job market, beautiful weather (especially from September to May), affordable housing, and a low cost of living make Houston a great choice for anyone seeking a new hometown.

The fact that it is an international city, with George Bush Intercontinental Airport, consulates of almost every nation, and the busiest seaport in the country, also make it a desirable and unique place for Unificationists. A diverse city with vast ecumenical and witnessing potential, some of the largest Christian churches in the United States and some of the largest non-Christian religions are all here.

What we would like to see in a pastor is an individual (or a couple) who can consistently give the Sunday Services as well as guide outreach and witnessing activities. We hope to have a pastor who can teach Divine Principle and its application, be involved in the Unificationist and young Unificationist educational activities and Blessing preparation. We would also hope for a person (or couple) who could guide or counsel members.

We have elected a church council in July 2013, which would like to support our pastor spiritually. At this time we can compensate our pastor $1000 per month, with hope to increase as we increase our membership and tithing.

A graduated from the Unification Theological Seminary (UTS) would be a big bonus, but we do not consider it absolute as a requirement.
