The Dallas chapter of the American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC) welcomed home some of the 172 clergy members who took a hastily called meeting to go to South Korea to pray for the peace and unification of South and North Korea as well as pray for peace and cooperation among the world’s religions.

Examiner and ACLC Co-Chair Rev. Dr. Don E. Peavy, Sr. acted as MC of the event which was held at the Dallas Family Church, 1922 Anson Road, Dallas, Texas on Sunday, October 16, 2011. A sumptuous dinner was served and in true ACLC fashion, the event was free of charge.

Dr. Karen Hollie-Thibodeaux, pastor of Lifeway Church in Dallas, was one of the 172 clergy who made the trip to Korea. She explained that 172 ministers, rabbis, imams, and other religious leaders answered the call of Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon to come to Korea. She said that many clergy from each of the four directions of the USA were called but only 43 from the North, South, East, and West were chosen.

Bishop Mark Hernandez, Chair of the Texas and Western chapters of the ACLC, explained that 43 represents the three days Jesus spent in the tomb and preaching to the dead and the 40 days Jesus spent on earth after his resurrection and before his ascension.

Dr. Hollie-Thibodeaux reported that the highlights for her were participating in the marriage blessing ceremony, attending the unveiling of the interfaith statutes in Seoul, Korea, and joining in prayer for peace and unification of South and North Koreas.

Rev. David Thibodeaux, husband of Dr. Hollie-Thibodeaux and international Gospel recording artist, summed up the trip as an “outstanding experience.” He said that he “felt a spirit of peace when we landed on the island.” He mesmerized the audience when he recalled a childhood experience during which he suffered a near-death experience (NDE) and met Jesus face-to-face who reminded him of the promise of John 14. Jesus then showed the awe inspired youth a mansion which Jesus had prepared for him. Rev. Thibodeaux said he was reminded of this experience when he beheld the Peace Palace in South Korea.

Bishop Hernandez ended the event by showing a video presentation of the trip and inviting those in attendance to participate in the upcoming Kingdom Conference in Las Vegas, beginning October 21, 2011. “Jesus urged us to pray constantly that the Father’s Kingdom would come to earth,” said Bishop Hernandez. He explained that the trip to Korea and the upcoming trip to Las Vegas are both efforts to get people “out of our comfort zones,” and help fulfill the mission which Jesus Christ entrusted to us
