Orphans and Volunteers Under Threat The humanitarian crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s

North Kivu province has reached a critical stage. In Goma, the

provincial capital now under M23 rebel control, despair is

Hospitals have been ransacked, medical supplies are non-existent,

food prices have tripled, and access to clean drinking water is

“Goma is isolated from the world. No humanitarian aid, no medicines… The wounded and sick are dying every day,” reports Nzanzu Saasita Bienvenu (Ben), IRFF’s local coordinator.

Male volunteers forced to flee To avoid forced conscription, IRFF’s male volunteers fled north to

nearby towns as fighting spread south. Despite their own

struggles, they continue working to support others.

The orphans from IRFF’s Hope for Children Centre were swiftly

evacuated to the relative safety of 20 foster families before the

volunteers fled. While not under immediate threat of violence, the

foster families now face paralyzed daily life and urgent shortages.

With large-scale international aid halted due to Goma’s airport

closure, IRFF’s unique network of local contacts remains a lifeline. It

enables stealth delivery of vital support via ground routes, ensuring

help reaches those in dire need.

IMMEDIATE NEEDS FOR SURVIVAL

IRFF-UK urgently needs $3,000 (around £2,300) to deliver vital

resources during this emergency. These funds will enable our

Goma-based community development specialist to equip host

families with small-scale entrepreneurship tools and skills,

fostering self-reliance.

Could you please sponsor the children and their new

families? Every contribution counts — 100% of your donation will

go directly to the 60 former street children and their host families

during this emergency period.

A donation of $50 (£40) would sponsor a single child. But we are

happy to receive any amount you can give, no matter how small.

Help us offer a lifeline to those caught in the crossfire of conflict.

Please stand now with Goma’s most vulnerable.

Menstruation Should Not Be An Obstacle In Life

As a charity for Africa, IRFF UK holds a strong promise to help underprivileged African girls facing challenges, especially period poverty, which makes it hard for them to go to school. We are dedicated to breaking down these barriers by making sure these girls have what they need for their periods. By doing this, we empower these young minds, giving them the chance to stay in school, learn, and break free from the cycle of poverty.
