Busabala School Jesca, the headmistress of Destiny School, has had great success with the Girl

Child Project. This involves handing out menstrual pads and providing education

on hygiene and self-respect. As such, she has expanded to a local school in

Busabala. Additionally, Jesca has improved the teaching standards through

teacher training.

Since she began this support last year, the school dropout rate, especially for

girls, has reduced tremendously. Likewise, the number of girls attending school

has overtaken that of boys.

Students at Busabala Primary School, Uganda.

Successes! With IRFF UK’s support, both schools have seen a huge decrease in cases of

sickness and disease. Plus, there has been a steady decline in teenage pregnancy

and an increase in self-esteem and self-awareness thanks to Jesca’s Girl Child

Results of the Final Primary Leaving examinations have drastically improved

compared to previous years. The majority of Destiny students have succeeded in

getting into Secondary school, with 2 receiving a full bursary and 3 receiving half

bursaries (Grace Christian Secondary School) due to outstanding academic

performances!

Finally, the first Destiny school student to receive a bachelor’s degree!

Joel Gideon Bukenya, a previous Destiny Junior School Student, graduating with a BA in Education at Makerere University, Uganda.
