Update on Destiny Junior School
Since its conception in 2009, there
have been many investments in
Destiny Junior School.
More recently this has
been accelerated to meet the needs of
local children from poor backgrounds.
In September 2020 the perimeter wall was completed and throughout 2023 IRFF
UK has been funding the plastering work of the wall.
The support given to pay for the teachers and children’s food and education has
steadily risen to its current amount of £1,150 per month.
In addition, the Covid pandemic as well as the Ukraine war has contributed to the
huge increase in food costs. As such, despite our increased funding, our
contributions are still insufficient to cover all costs.
Jesca Kyaligamba Jesca is passionate about impacting the education of poor community children
and providing them with the best possible primary-level education (PI-P7). She
also desperately wants to protect the young girls in her school who are likely to
get involved with boys and men from as early as 11 years old, get pregnant or
catch HIV/AIDS.
Therefore she has been concentrating on the ‘GirlChild’ project where girls and
boys are taught about sexual abstinence and safety, and girls are given menstrual
health education and menstrual products to which they would otherwise have no
Jesca is now looking into purchasing a pad-making machine as this would
a) be a source of inexpensive pads
b) be a source of income to allow Destiny School to expand.
There are currently 206 pupils at Destiny Junior School but she tells us they have
the capacity for 400 which she is eager to reach.
Destiny Junior School Goals for early 2024
1. Increase IRFF UK monthly support for teachers and children by £300/month
to facilitate the increase in student intake
2. Raise £820 to finance school furniture for the small children
3. Raise £2,000 to purchase a pad-making machine
Please consider supporting Jesca and this inspiring project and help us reach our
