We would like to begin by saying thank you for the support you have already offered
this year. You have directly improved the lives of hundreds of women and children in
We at IRFF-UK have become aware of the critical issue which requires an urgent
response: the alarming rates of child hunger in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.
This is particularly true in the vicinity of Gqeberha, where the Walmer Angels soup
kitchen has been steadfastly working to provide a lifeline to those in need.

Between August 2022 and September
2023, 1,722 children under the age of
five were newly diagnosed with severe
acute malnutrition. Tragically, 114 of
these children lost their lives, with many
still succumbing to moderate to
severe malnutrition.
Further heartbreaking
statistics reveal that 25% of the
province’s children are stunted, which is
one in four children.

In the face of this crisis, the Walmer Angels soup kitchen in Gqeberha has emerged as
a beacon of hope, providing essential nourishment to children in desperate need.

At IRFF-UK we cannot stand idly by while children suffer from hunger. As such,
we have committed to a recurring donation of £200 per month to the Walmer Angels
soup kitchen. By doing so, we ensure a sustained and meaningful impact that goes
