We must now change how we address God. When we pray, we will change “Hananim” to “Haneul Bumonim.” This is “Heavenly Parent.” It is smooth in English, and is also meaningful in Korean. Therefore, when you pray, the very first words you utter should be “Heavenly Parent” followed by “Beloved True Parents of Heaven, Earth, and Humankind.” As we approach Foundation Day, I must organize things this way; otherwise, you will not be able to do so. This is something I have consulted my original mind about.

Why do we marry? It is to resemble the image of God. God is a being with dual characteristics, possessing both an invisible male nature and an invisible female nature. In one body with dual characteristics, these characteristics are in complete harmony and unity. God is a being that is whole and united. However, these complementary individual natures within God are different from each other. If the male and female characteristics of God were the same, then one would be an exact copy of the other. But they are different. Being male and female, they must become one, become like seeds, and return to the position of God’s original nature.

God’s original substance (the original internal nature and external form) is one being, not two. The dual characteristics of man and woman are not the original substance in itself but attributes of the original substance. Because the dual characteristics of masculinity and femininity pertain to the entirety of God’s internal nature and external form, this gives rise to gender distinctions such as male (man) and female (woman) as distinguished in human beings, with each [individual attribute or character] being given human, God-like personality. However, “male” and “female” characteristics are not actual entities here. Therefore, two “genders” in one original entity does not mean there are two original entities. In other words, this is not dualism.

Heavenly Parent’s dream is to assume the True Parents’ bodies to realize one great cosmic family and live together forever in the joy of true love.
Since the Cheon Il Guk era following Foundation Day is an era in which we actually attend and live with the True Parents of Heaven, Earth and Humankind, who have achieved ultimate unity, it is more in line with the spirit of the Cheon Il Guk era to call God the Heavenly Parent.
Limitation of the term ‘Heavenly Parent’
– In English, the word Parent begs the question: “Which parent, the mother or the father?”
– Personally, I prefer to use Hanul Pumonim
