Here are some more details about the Seminar for Sunday School Teachers - for those who have already registered and for those who still might consider attending.
The weekend will suit those who are already involved with teaching Sunday School and also those who would like to help in this area in the future - don’t worry if you have no experience in this area. (So far ten people have signed up; we have spaces available for another eight or ten participants.
THE PROGRAMME: Run by Mr Tim Atkinson, the programme proper will begin at 9:00am on Saturday morning, preceded by morning devotion at 7:00am and breakfast at 8:00am. Those travelling long distances to get here are encouraged to join us for supper on Friday evening and stay over Friday night as well as Saturday night.
The programme will consist of six sessions: four on Saturday and two on Sunday morning, ending with lunch together. The sessions will be along these lines:
1. Introduction a) Introductions of participants b) Goals for the seminar c) Sharing experiences of Sunday school
2. The Importance of Sunday school a) General principles b) The purpose of Sunday school c) Reasons to be a teacher
3. Background to Sunday school in Sweden. a) How it developed b) How it is organized. c) Curriculum contents d) A typical schedule.
4. A Typical Lesson a) How to prepare b) The structure of the lesson
c) The role of stories d) How to teach
5. Virtues Material a) Teaching through virtues b) Seminars and workshops c) A typical seminar
6. Questions & Answers a) Applying the curriculum to local needs b) Reflections c) Concluding Remarks
CHARGE: The fee for the weekend is £80 (or 95 euros) for two nights’ stay and meals, or £70 (or 80 euros) if you are joining on the Saturday morning. (These levels are set in such a way that covers our fee to Livingstone House (£15 per night and £5 per meal) and adds around £20 per person to contribute to the presenter’s travel expenses from Sweden, and other expenses.)

TRAVEL: Livingstone House is accessible by train from London’s Victoria Station to Bromley South, or from Charing Cross Station to Elmstead Woods (nearer). We can arrange for you to be picked up at either of these local stations.
If travelling by plane, we can possibly arrange to meet you by car at London City Airport, the closest to Chislehurst (unless it is during the ‘rush hour’). However, if you are arriving at Heathrow, Gatwick or Stansted airports, please make your own way by train or bus (these are well-advertised routes by bus or train) to Victoria or Charing Cross stations and then take the overland train, as above.
