Women’s Federation for World Peace, International Europe In General Consultative Status the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations And in Association with the Department of Public Information

September 21, 2016

Dear WFWP Members and Friends,

The Women’s Federation for World Peace, International (WFWPI) is an NGO working in over 120 nations to empower women and girls through leadership training, education, confidence and capacity building programs- with an advocacy presence at major UN Offic- es. In addition, WFWP maintains service projects in over fifty nations in the areas of peace, development, education, vocational training, micro-credit, AIDS prevention, human- itarian aid and medical assistance.

We recognise the family as the most important social unit and the foundation for ethical, cohesive and prosperous societies. We are committed to advancing women’s role in the 21st-century and engaging leadership that is principled, creative and effective in address- ing challenges of our globalised community.

Throughout history women have not been fully recognised for their unique capacity for peace building including their essential contribution they make in cultivating character in children and youth and building cohesion in communities. There are many women of all ages who just need a little encouragement, training or tools to take on positions of greater influence with more effectiveness.

Our title this year is:

“Women as peace-builders and leaders fostering healthy families and communities in these challenging times”

Some sub themes:

1. Becoming a global citizen and building a global family: character education in families, school and life 2. Empowering young women as agents of peace, why girls are radicalising? 3. Addressing the challenges of our increasingly multicultural societies 4. Shared responsibilities and inclusive leadership for sustainable development and good governance. 5. Capacity building sessions: training women in advocacy, as educators, sharing effective curricula.

As in all previous annual conferences, our aim is to build solidarity and contribute tools, knowledge and confidence to be able to return to our various leadership roles and meet the urgent domestic and international challenges confronting us in the world today.

There will be, as well, a series of mini-workshops in areas related to leadership skills, ca- pacity- building in family advocacy, networking and other practical resources. We hope that you will be able to bring in your specific local or global expertise and good practices to broaden our program.

Information about the cost can be found in the attached registration form and posted on our WFWP-Europe website www.wfwp-europe.org and WFWP-Europe Facebook. We hope you can join us in Slovakia in November and we look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,
