Media Workshop - Summary Report - Vienna, Austria

The Media Training workshop was held from 9:30 am to 4 pm, with an attendance of approximately 20 participants. The workshop commenced with a discussion on the significance, meaning, and responsibility of media, referencing and quoting True Father’s and True Mother’s words of guidance.
The event began with welcoming words and an introduction delivered by Peter Haider, the UPF coordinator. He set the stage for the sessions that followed.
Hubert H., a brother with over 30 years of experience as a journalist, provided a comprehensive overview of his work with the New York City Tribune and various newspapers. His insights offered valuable perspectives on the field and its challenges.
Throughout the workshop, there were three sessions that allowed participants to ask questions and share their comments. It was inspiring to witness the dedication of some brothers and sisters who have already made significant investments in media-related activities, particularly in outreach to opinion leaders, politicians, and universities. Their shared experiences and testimonies were both informative and enlightening.
Peter Zöhrer, the IMAP Coordinator for Europe and Middle East, brought to the workshop a wealth of experience and expertise in advocating for human rights and religious freedom. As a member of the Austrian Journalist Association since 2005 and Reporters Without Borders since 2010, Peter provided valuable insights into these important issues. He also shared his recent collaborations with international scholars and experts, focusing on addressing challenges faced in Japan and other countries. Peter’s contributions enhanced the workshop by offering relevant perspectives.
One of the highlights of the workshop was an engaging presentation by Heidi M. on the underground media work in Austria, known as “Neue Mitte.” Supported by Peter and Gertrud Koch, 15 brothers and sisters were handpicked to work in universities, contacting students and professors, and cooperating with various public figures. As part of their efforts, they produced a quarterly magazine called “Integral,” published books, and organized discussion groups with lectures.
As the IMAP Coordinator, I am immensely grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to the workshop. Their insights and inputs played a crucial role in making the event a success.
Thank you all for your participation.
Best regards,
Johann Brunnbauer,
IMAP Coordinator
