Watch PeaceMakers Be the Change - Reserve Your Spot for This Summer

You heard about the Global PeaceMakers program in La Represa, Dominican Republic in January of this year. Now, watch our PeaceMakers in action. PeaceMakers from the US, Mexico, and Dominican Republic tell their stories of service and transformation during the construction of the levee in the Community of Peace of La Represa. Community members from talk about the floods and the importance of the levee, and their new international family of volunteers. Watch volunteers, kids, and community members serve, dance, laugh, hug, and build their new family.

Want to be part of it? There’s still time to apply for a Global PeaceMakers program this summer in Ghana, Israel, or go back to La Represa, Dominican Republic to work on the levee and the elementary school together with the very same kids and community members you see here. Alternative Spring Breaks

In other news, Service For Peace congratulates Xavier University and the Washington University Occupational Therapy program for their incredible contribution to our Communities of Peace in Guatemala during their Alternative Spring Breaks.

Student volunteers helped construct a wall protecting the school soccer field in El Quimal, provide occupational therapy to kids and training to caregivers at the Kids for Kids Association, and serve patients at the Hermanos Pedro Hospital and Transitions in Antigua, Guatemala. Ultimately, the Service For Peace family grew to include new student leaders from Cincinatti, OH and St. Louis, Missouri. Thanks to you both!

We wish the best of luck to the University of California San Diego, embarking on their Alternative Break in El Quimal, Guatemala today. They’ll be working with community members to complete the soccer field wall using recycled materials, and using the experience to implement a recycling education program with kids at the El Quimal School. Good luck UCSD!
