Global PeaceMakers is about creating global citizens--and friends--through the shared experience of service. We partner long-term with Communities of Peace throughout the world to engage local, regional, and international volunteers in community service with the ultimate goals of community development and personal transformation.

In this Global PeaceMakers program, volunteers from the Dominican Republic, the US, and more will collaborate with local community members to build a Model Classroom in the community of El Cidral. Service For Peace has been working in the partner Community of Peace of El Cidral since 2006. The community has grown so much over the last few years and dozens of kids are forced to “attend school” outside on the ground, despite tropical storms, tropical heat, or anything else.

The GPM is a service-learning project with a special focus on building personal leadership and peacemaking skills through service. Also woven into the schedule is time to see and experience the local culture and beautiful landscapes of the Dominican Republic--a fascinating culture that is sure to leave a mark on your heart.
