Victory of Love anthology project update

2026-01-10 · Source: tparents.org

Happy New Year to all!

We are still laser-focused on our goal, an anthology of American missionary testimonies. We have established sub-committees including a communications team, an advisor team, and a Second Gen Tech Team which has been helping us to use the internet to research existing databases, edit existing testimonies and generate new ones, and establish websites for storing written works and photos.

Perhaps you’ve already started your memoir, perhaps you haven’t because it is such a daunting task. Some others have completed their entire memoir, we applaud you!

The German missionaries spent some time working on their own anthology and it worked well because of collaboration. So can you join our small team by writing SOMETHING?

You gave your heart and soul to serve in the mission field, and your story is really important and must be written down before you leave this earth. This anthology is like our final altar to offer up our dedication as missionaries.

For some years now, True Mother has requested that the foreign missionaries sent out in 1975, as well the elder members from the 60’s, finally write their memoirs. True Mother called our memoirs “The Acts of the Apostles of True Parents” and urged it to be recorded for human history.

She wants everyone to know the early history of pioneering nations on behalf of True Parents. Her perspective is that in the future (300 years from now?), when everybody in the physical world knows about True Parents, they will want to research the pioneers who worked with Them to make that happen.

Please consider submitting something for this historical missionary anthology. These will not be long articles – just short “golden nuggets” that exhibit your sincere endeavors to serve God and True Parents. Any longer submissions will have a home in an online site, available for anyone to read with possible update opportunities.

You have been an essential element in the Providence of God, and your voice is so important for the new generations God is bringing to earth. We need your active involvement, and we can help with some editing and feedback if needed.

ACTION STEPS: Specific to this request, please include the following:

*Your full name, date of birth and the dates and nations you served as a missionary. Add a very short bio, Blessing date, a closeup family photo and a head shot of yourself either now or then. *How God worked through you, guided you and helped you. *How hard it was to find unity among the missionaries, who were comprised of three former enemy nations. Mother wants us to tell even the ugly stories.

*True Mother (and Father before) wants honesty. She is also hoping for our vulnerable stories of struggle and our victories, imperfect as they might have been.

PLEASE respond to this email by March 1st, 2026, in some way. Tell us if you can participate in this great effort, even if it’s just “I can’t do this now”. Let us know where you are in your memoir effort. Help us understand what type of support you need to succeed.

Our team of dedicated volunteers is small but we wish to help you leave your voice in service to True Parents. Attached (and copied below) is a document to aid you in getting started, if you need it. We will respond to any questions to the best of our collective ability.

In the document, there are two sections: The first is for the short testimony(ies) which we will publish for you in our book; the second is for you to write your longer autobiography in your own book. We encourage you to write both, but we hope you will focus of the short version first so we can compile them and publish our book. That can be a springboard for you to write the complete version.

Although this letter is coming to you through the hands and voice of brothers and sisters, it’s really Father and Mother who are asking you to write your testimony. We hope that this helps you find more motivation to move ahead.

As we move forward, we will try to update you more frequently.

======================= Guidelines:

Suggested guidelines for writing your memoir (partial story for the anthology)

1. Make a plan on what you want to write about. Some directions from True Parents are: Show how God worked in your life, how He guided you, how did you respond? Share the difficulties, even the ugly ones and how you got victory, even if the victory was not complete. Creating unity among former enemy nations is a theme too.

2. What is the result you wish to show? Who is your audience? If it is the public, then explain all Unificationist terms and ideas. If it is just for posterity and our members, still explain most of what the ‘terms’ meant to you at that time. 3. Write each day for a short time. Just put your ideas down on paper. After you have a good amount you can go back and rearrange and edit. Writing is a muscle that needs to be flexed. 4. Write episodes, vignettes, or short stories. Let the telling emerge from your heart, and memories. Don’t judge yourself or others, you are being a reporter on how everyone worked.

5. Ask another person to read your memoir and give feedback on: is it clear, does it flow naturally and does the reader “discover” who you are and how God worked in guiding you? 6. Don’t tell the reader what to think, ‘show’ the reader in your descriptions. Sometimes close your eyes and ‘see’ the situation you were in, then describe what you ‘see’. 7. You don’t have to write everything, just the historical stuff. 8. It will take time, be patient. 9. We will accept up to 3 vignettes (individual testimonies) per submitter of 1,000 – 1,200 words each. Use 12 point for your type size. This is Calibri / sans serif (means no squiggly tails on the letters like Georgia. This is Georgia type style)

Things you will need to consider if you want to write a book:

1. Will you use photographs? Color doesn’t show the details when it becomes black and white. Close ups are best. 2. What is the cover going to look like? Photo or image? Who will create it? 3. What is on the back cover? Someone’s description of your memoir or a short bio? Who will create it? 4. Will you include a map of your nation(s)? [Do not use a copyrighted image.] 5. Final words, self-reflective or hopes for the future? 6. Short bio of your life included? 7. Website or email for questions, comments? Supporters may want to contact you, but this could be painful if someone doesn’t agree with your view.
