Raising Our Leaders, Growing As People We are in the heat of the summer. July has ended and it is already August, when the semester begins for most schools. Many of our CARP leaders and students have been busy involving themselves in various opportunities, whether that be our sponsor organization Family Federation for Heavenly USA’s various summer camps and programs across the nation, spending time with family, choosing classes, finding jobs, working, and more.

Many of those young adults came together recently for National CARP’s annual Momentum leadership retreat that happened in Barrytown, New York from July 25th to the 27th. This year, a record number of participants joined, with a total of 109 participants and staff all together. Many graduates from our partner organization Generation Peace Academy have decided to join CARP for the upcoming year.

During the retreat, the student leaders had the honor of welcoming Family Federation for Heavenly USA’s Continental Director Dr. Chungsik Yong, President Naokimi Ushiroda, and the other subregional leaders. Dr. Yong shared passionately about having a heart of sacrifice for God as our CARP founders Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon embodied. Dr. Yong’s speech was among many of the talks and testimonies that ignited a sense of purpose in many of our students.

“I’ve come to realize that God has raised and nurtured within me a certain level of love for America for a

reason. Simply hearing about CARP’s vision, mission, and goals and hearing from our leadership just brought forth to me very clearly that… [there is so much important work for us to do] here in America… Seeing this, I could acknowledge within myself a desire to be right here… and do what I can to contribute.” - Miae Iwasaki

This year CARP’s partner organization High Noon joined the workshop. High Noon’s half day program reminded the CARP leaders that it is through their own personal growth and breakthrough that they can develop the confidence and ability to help others.

With all that the students gained from this retreat, they were left with a sense of mission. Thank you to all the donors and supporters for helping make this a memorable experience for the CARP leaders.

Building Momentum for the School Year

National CARP hosted their annual Momentum leadership retreat from July 25th to the 27th at Barrytown, New York. Momentum gathers CARP leaders across the nation to connect to the national vision and with each other in preparation for the upcoming school year.
