CARP USA May Newsletter: You Are Worth More

You Are Worth More One of CARP’s missions is to empower young people with the skills and habits that make them successful. These are principles we live by; to arrive at those principles, we also do the research.
On April 10th, CARP Las Vegas, the combined chapters of University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) and College of Southern Nevada (CSN), with CARP Bay Area, the combined chapters of Chabot College, California State University East Bay and University of California Berkeley, hosted the 6th Campus Talk. This time, they also teamed up with the Child and Family Advocacy Society (CFAS) of Brigham Young University-Idaho (BYU-I).With esteemed guests like Dr. Joe Malone, Dr. Thomas Lickona, Dr. Cole Ratcliffe, Bishop Ron Thomas, Minister Jadell Lee and Kristyn Marshall, the six hour online conference covered three main principles about sexual integrity: 1. How you live matters. 2. Marriage is a doorway to greater love. 3. Your marriage affects the world.
Each of the six panels discussed a different aspect of one of these principles. Each panel was hosted by a CARP student: Mia Taguchi (CSN, Secondary Education) of CARP Las Vegas, Karen Ishiguro (Chabot ‘23, English) of CARP Bay Area, and Connor Redmond (Economics and Inernational Relations, 2023) of CARP Montgomery College, DMV.
“I’m really grateful to have been a part of making this 6th Campus Talk happen. It was so exciting being able to work with another CARP chapter and another like-minded student group at Brigham Young University-Idaho. It proved to me that changing the culture of love and sex is something worth fighting for, and it’s possible through working with other people who are striving for the same things. In this day and age, it’s really scary to stand up for values regarding family and marriage. I had a really hard time wanting to put myself out there and share about the event because I wasn’t sure how people would receive it. But the support that came reminded me that other people value these things too and the response from Campus Talk has been super humbling as well. I’m moved by all the people who have been impacted by it. It shows that deep down inside, everyone wants a lasting relationship and marriage, the world just doesn’t know how to help people get there. I’m grateful to be a part of something that could give hope to people about something so life-changing.” - Mia Taguchi, College of Southern Nevada
