Official church "Report" of GPLC event in Brazil

Official church “report” of GPLC event in Brazil M. Field November 1, 2011 (Note: The church report about the Brazil event is so… malicious or spiteful and full of false conjectures that I decided to take the time to translate it to show you what the church is officially saying. The parts that don’t make sense are not a problem of my translation—they don’t make sense in the original Korean version. At the bottom of the whole thing is my reply to their statements.)

This document is comprised of 4 sections: First is Shin’s official church report of the event. Second is a follow up report by the church. Third is my personal reply to the reports. And the last part consists of some pictures of uninvited members who came to the event to fish for information.

1. Shin’s report

GPLC Mid-term report, October 22, 2011 Report by Dongmo Shin, South American continental director

Hyun Jin Nim doesn’t attend the Brazil GPLC, host team confused, participants stupefied

Hello? The GPLC that took place in violation of True Parents directions and spraying endless money just finished with the congress session by Marquezelli’s invitation. All that’s left tomorrow the 22nd is the GPF event where they invite many famous singers. Of course as you can see in the picture the GPF event itself has the atmosphere of a sympathy concert – the posters to promote the event don’t even have the face of Hyun Jin Nim on them and they are using those to promote the event. Most likely this is an event where they wasted money in inviting a celebrity.

The GPLC started on the 19th with a dinner and entered into the 20th for the main event. Many of the Peace Ambassadors who actually promised participate did not show up. The event took place in a very uncomfortable and cold atmosphere. As expected, Hyun Jin Nim did not show up at 9:45 AM as he was scheduled to do so. Hyun Jin Nim also did not show up at the congress session. I am not sure why, but I’m guessing that it was because of legal pressure in Brazil.

Some people are saying that he got frightened of the Brazilian government’s will to execute the law against him because of his actions last year in compromising a religious ceremony, and for using violent words against a legally religious leader.

Of course all of this has some truth to it, and while it’s not entirely certain to me, the conclusion is that Hyun Jin Nim did not arrive in Brazil and he completely gave up on participating in this event.

The staff preparing the event under these circumstances were very nervous because they had already invited so many international participants to the event, and now the event lost its steam without the main host. The governor of the neighboring state of Goiania came to the dinner banquet on the 20th because he heard that the vice-president of Brazil was scheduled to show up (see the pamphlet). But he came and maybe felt such a bad atmosphere that he left without even eating his food.

The dinner banquet and other conferences continued in this type of cold and terrible environment with only the participation of some participants who I assume had their airplane tickets and hotel fees provided for them. One local member who was sent to investigate said that the core staff had to make emergency meetings to deal with the bad situation and that on the second day at the third session of the 21st, it was like the event was happening and not happening with a very confusing environment. I am told that at the official event they vaguely told participants that he (Hyun Jin Nim) could not attend due to “safety problems”.

Until now, the call to appear in court for the violation of the Sao Paulo church and the violence was set for October 19. But as you can see in the picture above, on purpose they prepared their schedule for the event with a dinner on the 19th of October and the main event on the 20th—it’s as if they were proceeding with the event and laughing at the summons by the legal authorities of the Brazilian government. However, the legal team under the church swiftly took action and changed the date to send an additional summons to them. And because some of their staff received the notification of this change Hyun Jin Nim’s side decided to delay his visit to Brasilia.

The event at the congress also proceeded in a poor and miserable way. They borrowed the congress through Senator Marquezelli (Peace Ambassador who is connected with us for more than 20 years) who is related to them, and the ceremony was very messily done by the senator. (We have obtained the video) Furthermore, Bishop Ferreira, whom I clearly suspect is receiving a huge financial incentive from them, did not figure in the pamphlet but he was strongly supporting the event in a supportive role.

The person you see in the middle of the picture is a parliamentarian (Peace Ambassador) who was invited to the congress session. A few days ago our team went in person to his office to explain clearly to him about Hyun Jin Nim and GPLC and the relationship with True Parents. We asked him to separate from them. He said he understood the situation, and that he would finish the event as quietly as possible. [Due to our intervention,] He actually called up and canceled the participation of the top leaders of Brazil and parliamentarians who were going to attend the event, so the event took place with only a miserable 150 people who independently came from other countries and were already there.

He promised that he would absolutely never work with them again and that from now on he would consult everything with church president Simon from now on. And he said that he would put aside all his other schedules to participate in the upcoming True Parents birthday and he even firmly promised that he’d visit Korea with church president Simon.

Although you can’t trust a politician to be 100% truthful, I can see some evidence that he did an effort to keep his word. Today at the congress he took over most of the event and he was the master of ceremony, Youngjun Kim introduced GPF, and Ivan (a member with problems and a bachelor past marriageable age) gave a speech representing Brazil.

Outlook: They are advertising that in February of 2012 they are going to host another GPLC in the state of Goiania (a state 3 hours away from Brasilia). Because heaven’s fortune is not on their side there is no way that that event will turn out well.

I finish my GPLC mid-term report and will give you more details later.

2. Second report Another report by the church (This one was sent out without an actual person attributed to it, but the tone and familiarity with South America directs suspicions that it’s also written by Shin):

In the document inviting people to the Brazil GPLC event you can see the nice stadium with an explanation under it saying that 25,000 people attended the 2010 GPF Paraguay event which ended as a success. Many people know. That the picture was from 2008 when the event took place before True Parents gave the order to stop the events. Many know that the 2010 event ended miserably under rain and with all sorts of problems…

Their arrogance and treason continues even in Brazil.

According to some news I’m hearing, they did big efforts through Marquezelli to get a plaque of gratitude… They threw so much money for the hotel event, so it’s no wonder that so many people participated. Peace Ambassadors or other VIPs who participated in providential events all know about this. Whenever there’s a hotel event the events are packed with people who want a free ride.

It’s very likely that the GPLC begged them to make a good congress event and told them that it didn’t matter how much the event would cost. It looks like they are changing their tactics because the idea of GPF of having social impact by mobilizing a mass of people was a failure. Now it looks like they are spraying money into hotel events. They are copying the ILC model.

And I hear that they are trying everything they can to reserve the special place that is the congress and to make it seem like they are receiving an honorary plaque. All Brazilians know the truth. They know what kind of role money has in that kind of work. And everyone knows how the pictures taken from that event are used… just wait and see. They are probably saying that the GPLC in Brazil was a success and are partying with money doing an event at this hotel and renting the conference room in the congress for which they also sprayed money all over just so that they could take some pictures and send them all over the place. They are hiding the disgusting side from the members that they are abusing the members money for this stuff.

(Note: This sentence just doesn’t make any sense…) When bishop Ferreira went to America in July and when he gave up on the elections, most people know the rumors that the bishop had some financial dealings, and in that situation even at this event there was such an uprising from his church so he had to ask them to please attend the external hotel event. The video of him speaking at True Parents blessing event and he even denied this and asked them to delete the video footage. That’s the bishop.

I think that the bishop will be able to attend this upcoming event (Note: TP birthday?).Because he also has to do as much as he’s received.

But all the Brazil members know. Where all that money they are spraying all over the place came from originally. Their event has nothing to do with providence, and that they are acting as enemies who hurt True Parents heart and steal from the members dedication.

3. My personal reply

My reply to the church’s report:

1. Claim of bad atmosphere – The church’s report of the GPLC and GPF event, officially written by continental director Shin, repeats several times that the “atmosphere” and “environment” throughout the event was “poor”, “miserable”, “uncomfortable”, etc. These adjectives are meant to portray an ambiance of failure so that our members may be comforted (?) to know that God didn’t support the event (?) or some bizarre belief he subscribes to. Some may have read the report about the GPLC and GPF event in Brazil (http://www.mediafire.com/?e08vx5qghs1z674). You can see a little bit of the “atmosphere” in that report.

2. Governor – Shin mentions that the governor of the state of Goiania left “without even eating his food” because of the bad environment, but this is just a cheap lie. First of all, he’s the governor of the state of Goias, not “Goiania”. Goiania is a city inside the state of Goias. Shin repeatedly makes this small error whenever he refers to the state.

3. Former presidents and other individuals – Nowhere in continental director Shin’s “report” does he mention the great rapport between the former presidents and the GPFF coordinating team. Shin doesn’t mention about the meeting with the Vice-President of Brazil and also doesn’t mention the 7 minute video sent by current President Rafael Correa of Ecuador for the GPLC event. Nor does he mention the presence of the Chief of Cabinet at the GPF event. He was sent by President Dilma Rousseff to participate in our GPF representing Brazil’s president.

4. Congress session – Shin wrote that the event at the congress was “messy” and in the other report they trash the congress session to a very full extent with claims that we “threw so much money” into the event. Their claim is that we threw away so much money to have a solemn session to honor GPFF in the congress. But, who uses their own money and resources to honor themselves? The entire event at the Congress did not cost GPFF anything. The solemn session to honor GPFF was prepared by Brazilian congressmen representing the Congress of Brazil.

5. Claim that we “wasted money” on GPF event – Shin wrote that the GPF was nothing more than “wasted money”. But I’d like to reply to such accusation by letting you know that the GPF event at the headquarters of the Assemblies of God church in Brasilia, Brazil, did not cost anything for GPFF. The GPF event was 100% done by Bishop Ferreira and his capable staff. Actually, GPFF asked the bishop if we could support financially and he refused any help from our side. He wanted to do this event. There was no money “wasted”. Also, Shin’s claim that Bishop Ferreira is receiving “huge financial incentives” is terribly insulting and defamatory.

6. Claim that Peace Ambassadors didn’t show up – Peace Ambassadors were not invited. He is making up another lie.

7. Shin admits sabotaging the event – In his official report, Shin proudly talks about how he intervened with VIPs to cancel the participation of top Brazilian leaders and parliamentarians. He speaks of how he talked to congressman Marquezelli and made him “promise” never to work with us again.

8. Claims about Main host – Shin says that the event “lost its steam” because Dr. HJM did not attend. Shin assumes that Dr. HJM is the host, but the host is the IDPPS (think-tank) and GPFF. There was enough steam in this event to blow over any false reporting. Shin said that participants were told Dr. HJM didn’t attend because of “safety problems”, but no such announcement was ever made. In his video message Dr. HJM states why he couldn’t make it to the event. His other statements are speculation, but he dresses them up as if they were facts.

9. Nervous staff – Shin mentions how the staff were “very nervous”. This is the only true statement found in his report. Throughout the whole event the staff were on alert mode to deal with any situation, as is usual with big events.

10. Small detail: The last picture that Shin used in his report looks photoshopped.

It is no wonder that there are misconceptions about the work being done when the official report reflects the twisted view of one leader who wasn’t even there to see the event. Shin only received reports from his “spies” whom he sent to the event. It is sad to think what kind of report Dr. HJM’s parents are receiving from these so-called “leaders”.

Incidentally, we spotted “spies” early on in each of our sessions (one of them even made it into our secretariat office trying to fish for documents!) and we asked them what they thought of the event: They said it was great.

Here are pictures of the uninvited members they sent to “spy” on our activities:

Boubacar (right) and other church member exiting the Secretariat office at the event (Boubacar lied to the Bishop in 2010, telling him that Dr. HJM would be attending a church event only to get the Bishop to go to the event in Korea. The Bishop went only to find that he had been lied to by the church.)

Members at the congress session who said the event was great

3 members at the event in the Bishop’s church – they were trying to break through security lines to reach the Bishop
